Opening my eyes, I feel a razor sharp pain numbing my body — with the pressure of a relentless flame consuming me. As I watch a planet drift further and further away from me. Leaving nothing but space around me. I reach my hand out towards the vanishing world struggling to lift it.
Thinking to myself "Where… am I?"
As a massive weight overtakes me, crushing my body. I plummet rapidly, sinking down into an endless sea of stars. Fighting to remain conscious as the weight increases with each passing second, pushing harder and harder against me. Watching everything fade to black, as my body made a sudden impact knocking me out cold.
After who knows how long, I hear a voice faintly calling out to me.
"Hello? Are you awake?"
"You are? Well, excellent, then you're right on time!"
I slowly open my eyes, blinking as I look around. Trying to make sense of my unfamiliar surroundings. Wondering if any of this was real or had I already died.
An unknown voice speaks to me fading in and out of my head.
"You may be confused as to where you are, why you're here, and how you arrived."
Sitting up, I look down at my hands. Observing the dark cloths wrapped around them. As a sharp pain pierces through my head. As I grab my head with my hands. The voice continues to speak more clearly now as I writhe in pain.
"All very valid questions that will be answered in due time. For now all I ask of you is to trust in me — or not. Really, it all depends on you."
My head starts to clear up and I start to process what I've heard. I can't recall much of anything, from before I ended up here but my instincts urge me to listen to this voice. So for now I'll do as it says. I respond to the voice "I'll trust you for now, so where do I go from here?"
As I stand up, I scan my surroundings. Seeing the light peek in from above the stones towering around me, just past the horizon. The voice seems to appreciate my response as it eagerly says "Wonderful, exactly what I thought you'd say! Now, first things first let's get you out of here. Climb along the edge of the rocks and make your way to the surface."
Wondering if I can even maneuver my way to the top. I say to the voice "I don't know if I can do it." The voice responds saying "Although you might not remember who you are, your body always will. Once you start moving around it will all come back to you. Trust your instincts you got this! And if you can't trust your instincts, trust in me."
Making my way to the edge of the crater. The light grows dim as I reach the walls of stone. I feel around and grab hold of the rocks lining it. Making sure I have a fire grip as I begin to climb. Shaking rocks to make sure they wouldn't move and fall under my weight causing them to fall out. As I near the top of the cave a violent shockwave made me slip, losing my footing as I dangled from my arms. Holding onto the rocks tightly with my hands making sure not to fall. While I find another foothold to finish making my way out this crater.
With a firm foundation I finish my journey to the top. Pulling myself over the ledge and throwing my body onto the ground. Rolling over on my back to lay down while I catch my breath. I lifted my head and took a good look at myself in the light.
Seeing the black robes covering my body for the first time and the cloth wrapped around my arms. Noticing that clothes seem to be unscathed even after the impact of the crash. I question if the pain was even real or was it a really real bad dream. Soon enough I'll have my answers.
Breaking the silence as I am lost in thought the voice says "Ah, you're finally out! You sure did take your time."
Startling me as I rise to my feet looking at the view in front of me. As I see mountains scattered across barren rocky planes. Filled with nothing but ruins and rubble throughout the land. I say to the voice "What happened here?"
Ignoring my question it responds saying "Never mind that, look past the mountains . Do you see those lights shining in the East?"
Determined for an answer I try to ask again about the rubble "Yes I do but w-" I am redirected again before I could get the chance to ask.
"Follow them! Oh and don't worry about getting lost, they shine so bright you will always see them no matter how far away you are. Just remember, when you reach there, you must search for the blue lights."
I feel another shockwave shake the ground beneath me struggling to stay on my feet as the mountains rumble in the distance. I ask the voice "what was that just now?"
Avoiding the question once again the voice responds "Now, now, now, I'd love to stick around for the show, but I have other things to attend to! Good Luck! Try not to die."
Making my way to the lights, I travel through the barren rocky lands encountering a city. Littered with tall buildings that appear to have been abandoned long ago. Many were intact appearing to be in good condition despite being worn down overtime.
Making my way through the deserted city, I hear a loud shockwave in the distance. Causing the ground to violently shake, crack, and crumble as it got closer. Seeing the buildings collapse right before my eyes I act quickly, to avoid being crushed by the rubble raining down from above.
Having no time to spare I leapt with all my might soaring towards the falling buildings. Crashing into one with my shoulder, I go straight through the wall landing on my side.
Hanging halfway over the edge, I see the ground getting closer. Quickly getting on my feet, running forward towards the opening in the building. Jumping off the side of it.
Landing on top of a falling wall, carefully holding onto it as I plan my next move. Swiftly moving through the debris from one to another, avoiding the unstable ground that was splitting apart at all cost.
With the cracks growing bigger every passing moment, I realize now that this is a race. A race where the winner is determined by speed and If I am going to survive, I have to win. I have to go even faster!
Focusing on maintaining my momentum, I put all my strength into my legs. As I move as fast as possible across the crumbling terrain, doing everything I can to outrun it. Leaping through the building hoping the rubbles holds together just long enough for me to get through.
Determined to reach the blue light and uncover my truth, I push myself even further. Darting across the debris as fast as possible, outrunning the shattering ground below. Going so fast I gained distance faster than it could destroy with each movement.
Reaching the last building that remained ahead I jumped to the ground without a second thought rolling back onto my feet rushing forward. Giving it everything I got to get as far as I could. I heard the rubble behind me crashing into the ground growing distant as I ran onward.
Feeling ripples throughout the ground growing far stronger than before, another shockwave tears through the lands. Terraforming the rocky surface into jagged rocks elevating high into the skies blocking the path ahead. Almost knocking me off my feet as I barely manage to stay standing. Stumbling backwards as I witness the massive obstacle standing tall before me.
Refusing to stop now after coming so far I regain my footing, digging my feet into the ground for a firm foothold. Putting all the strength I have into my legs - leaping up the rocks grabbing hold of one with each hand. I brace keeping stead as I plant my feet. Gathering the strength to push forward as I pull myself up each layer making my way to the top. With bloody hands grabbing hold of the last rock as it began to fall off the wall I launched myself over the edge barely making it to the top.
Sitting at the top after the brutal climb, I search for the blue light. Surely I could see it here higher than even the mountains were. Catching a glimpse of it, the glare fills my eyes with wonder. Approaching the light with each step forward it was as if it was illuminating my world. Opening my eyes to all the things I could not see before. Shining so bright I could see monsters that lurked below.
Every step I take into this light is another step leading to the monsters below, yet the light seemed closer than the danger could ever be. Being barely out of reach it calls to me to take another step. Gazing deep into the light, I see clusters of color within. Taking one more step as I look beyond the clusters seeing 7 figures cloaked in light.
Overcome with curiosity I reach out to the light leaping forward right over the edge. Soaring through the air grabbing hold of the radiant light. Looking directly into the light I saw for a brief moment the 7 figures all distinctly having a light of their own. No one figure was simply cloaked in light. They were bonded to it. Made for it. The green, blue, black, red, purple, silver, and gold all belonged to one who had claimed the light to be their own. As I aim to look further past the lights, they flash all at once blocking me out as they fade away. leaving only blue light.
The overwhelming radiance of the blue light consumes me — filling my mind with experiences that have yet to come. Leaving me with memories of a savior I do not know from lands long gone; Memories of me greeting a man chained up alone in dark depths below; Memories of a giant that fell from the heavens straight pass me falling to hell. All linked to me in some way or another but how? Why am I seeing this? Why now?
As the light begins to fade away I see a woman reach out her hand calling out to me. I can't hear her but I see her not clearly, not perfectly but I know I have to find her. I have to live for her. I don't know who she is just yet but knowing she's out there waiting for me is enough to know for certain I cannot stop here.
Watch her slowly go away into the light as I fall further away from it. I reach out my hand desperately reaching towards her as she and the light vanish before my eyes. Leaving nothing but the stars above me as I descend. Feeling a rage – I don't know yet fill me with new found motivation to live.
