CALLA'S BEDROOM (NIGHT)
(The final episode of 'The Worst Witch' ends. Calla switches off the TV. They're all lying together in the big bed.)
Talia:
"Bruhh!! What if that's all real? What if on 31st July, which is coming after two weeks, our Hogwarts letters come like Harry Potter got?"
Calla:
"What if we get a Cookbook?"
Selby:
"Or what if in the afternoon we see a witch like Mildred saw?"
All together :
"It would be so cool!!"
(All laugh)
Calla:
"I wish it were real. And like them, our trio will always fight against all bad people."
Selby:
"Yeah! Forever."
Talia (wakes up and jumps on the bed):
"Hey! Guys, I have an idea — on this 31st July, we'll sit together and see if we get Harry Potter's letter!"
Selby:
"Or if we see a witch flying in the sky!"
Calla:
"And we'll check if there's any Cookbook in our house."
(The girls all shout together)
All:
"Yes! It will be awesome!"
(Their voices are loud enough that Calla's mom hears and comes to check. The girls quickly dive under the covers and pretend to be asleep. Calla's mom peeks in, smiles a little, and quietly leaves the room. As soon as she's gone…)
Talia (whispering):
"Heee heee…"
Selby (giggling softly):
"That was close!"
Calla:
"Goodnight, witches."
(And then they all fall into a deep sleep)
Morning of 31st July
(It's early morning. We see each girl in her own house…)
Calla's Room
(Calla suddenly wakes up, her eyes wide.)
Calla (shouting):
"It's 31st July!!"
(She jumps out of bed and rushes out of the room.)
Talia's Room
(Talia wakes with a big grin, stretches, then gasps.)
Talia:
"It's 31st July!"
(She hurries out towards the door.)
Selby's Room
(Selby blinks awake slowly, then suddenly remembers.)
Selby:
"It's today!"
(She jumps out of bed and runs to her window.)
(Calla checks if she can find a cookbook in her basement.
Talia checks if she has got a letter from Hogwarts.
And on the other side, Selby checks if she can see any witch flying in the sky.
After doing all this, they didn't find anything magical, so they got on a video call.)
Talia:
"I didn't get a letter from Hogwarts. Just some bills and a letter from my long distance grandma."
Calla:
"I even searched for a Cookbook. I only found two books in my house. I checked if there were any clues, and even tried making a recipe, but nothing worked."
Selby:
"I spent five hours straight looking up at the sky. I just saw some birds flying nothing else."
Calla:
"What if now we switch roles? I'll watch the sky for a witch. Selby, you can check if you got a Hogwarts letter. And Talia, you can search for a Cookbook in your house."
Talia :
"Good idea!"
Selby:
"But… what if even after doing that, we don't get anything?"
Talia:
"Yeah, she's right. And it's already getting late. I think it'll just waste our time. Let's promise to search every year on 31st July — until we finally find something."
Calla:
"Yeah! You both are right we'll definitely do that. Promise." (smirking)
Selby: Promise.
(After that day, every year on 31st July, all three girls kept their promise.
Each year, they searched for something magical a letter, a Cookbook, or a witch flying through the sky.
And every year, they found nothing…
But somehow, each year gave them a little hope.
Hope that maybe not this year but next year.)
