"Kyōraku Callum and the Kendo Test"
Kyōraku Callum stroked his chin, pondering,
"Let's take this chance to finish this task."
As the first student to choose an asauchi, he was alone in the kendo class.
Kyōraku Callum, without hesitation, began his kendo practice on the training grounds.
The Way of One Sword Style, continues within my heart.
One Sword Style Kendo doesn't have fixed techniques; it's more about incorporating one's own sword intent.
As Kyōraku Callum gripped his asauchi, his eyes changed.
Sword intent flowed in his dark eyes, like a sharp sword about to pierce his opponent's chest!
Unlike the peaceful demeanor of a master, Kyōraku Callum's understanding of One Sword Style Kendo was more like a sharpened blade!
As techniques flowed, sword intent raged, and the sound of breaking air was incessant.
A forward step, a twist of the waist, Kyōraku Callum's asauchi slashed at an incredible angle!
A faint pressure emanated from the tip of the asauchi, as if about to cut everything before him.
After warming up, Kyōraku Callum sheathed his asauchi.
Kyōraku Callum, once satisfied with his strength, now deeply frowned.
Although usually lazy, Kyōraku Callum was quite talented.
With the guidance of his unconventional elder, his foundation was solid.
But this foundation wasn't enough; it wouldn't even make him more than cannon fodder in the Seireitei.
"Hopefully, the next task will give better rewards,"
Kyōraku Callum looked at the clear blue sky, a hint of worry in his eyes, muttering to himself.
As time passed, students arrived to collect their asauchi.
Each wore a satisfied smile, having obtained their desired asauchi.
Kyōraku Callum's gaze wasn't long held, it was caught by a rather arrogant red-haired young man.
Coming from Rukongai District 78, Abarai Renji's personality had a violent side.
In the unfamiliar environment of Shinigami Academy, he used this personality to protect himself.
Most students came in groups; he was alone.
Soon, Abarai Renji noticed Kyōraku Callum's gaze.
He paused, then glared back with what he considered a fierce look.
Kyōraku Callum smiled and ignored it.
He knew Abarai Renji's personality and wouldn't bother with him.
Abarai Renji was puzzled, muttering,
"Strange guy."
After all the students arrived at the kendo training ground, their teacher appeared.
"My name is Gengorō Ōunabara, and I am your kendo teacher."
Gengorō Ōunabara was an unremarkable middle-aged man with a calm demeanor and friendly personality.
"To improve your kendo skills, I'll conduct a simple test."
"Different kendo levels receive different instruction. Show your full strength!"
Kyōraku Callum stood among the students, a strange expression on his face.
"A kendo test?"
Gengorō Ōunabara ignored the murmurs and continued in a calm tone:
"Two students per match, using wooden swords. The winner advances. Any questions?"
Students looked around, searching for partners. But Gengorō Ōunabara had already assigned them.
Soon, the large training ground was filled with students.
Gengorō Ōunabara stood high above, his gaze sweeping the ground like a hawk. His low voice boomed,
"Begin."
Kyōraku Callum, holding a wooden sword, looked at his opponent—a young noble. He didn't recognize the family crest.
Without a word, he nodded and began.
Single-handed, a left forward step, his sword aimed at his opponent's throat.
A sharp whoosh echoed from his wooden sword.
The opponent was flustered and couldn't react.
After mastering One Sword Style Kendo, Kyōraku Callum's kendo skills were quite good.
He extended his arm, his sword tip at the opponent's throat, ending the match with one move.
"I yield."
The noble youth, though unwilling, had to accept defeat.
The kendo test continued round after round.
Kyōraku Callum didn't meet strong opponents; the strongest were defeated in three moves.
This continued until the final round.
Kyōraku Callum looked at his new opponent, a dangerous smile on his face.
"Kyōraku Callum."
"Abarai Renji."
Gengorō Ōunabara watched the two.
He'd seen all the previous matches.
Kyōraku Callum and Abarai Renji were undoubtedly the most talented in kendo among this year's students.
But who would be the top freshman remained to be seen.
Their previous opponents were too weak to fully test their abilities.
Now, a clash of strong opponents! Let me see who is truly the best freshman!
Gengorō Ōunabara's thoughts were unknown to Kyōraku Callum. His opponent, however, demanded his full attention.
Unlike his previous opponents, Abarai Renji's wild eyes were filled with a thirst for battle.
His hands, gripping the wooden sword, were tense, veins bulging.
He sensed danger from Kyōraku Callum.
Kyōraku Callum met Abarai Renji's stance, his wooden sword slightly lowered, the tip angled upwards.
Unlike Abarai Renji's aggressive gaze, Kyōraku Callum's eyes were calm.
The kendo match didn't involve spiritual pressure.
The tension between them thickened the air. It tested patience and composure.
These weren't Abarai Renji's strengths.
"I'll win this!"
Abarai Renji roared, swinging his wooden sword with all his might.
"Not so sure about that."
Kyōraku Callum raised his wooden sword, parrying the attack.
Powerful and heavy.
Abarai Renji felt less like a student and more like a ferocious beast.
His potential and strength were unmatched by ordinary students.
Unfortunately, he lacked professional kendo training.
Kyōraku Callum's eyes sharpened. He twisted his wrist, slashing at Abarai Renji at an incredible angle.
The sudden counterattack threw Abarai Renji off balance.
