After class on Monday morning, Carrie Johnson, Emma's roommate, ran up to her. "Emma, are you
headed for dinner? Let's go eat together. She organized the books neatly and picked them all up.
The two of them went downstairs together and exited the school building.
From afar, Carrie pointed at the door and said, "Take a look… Scumbag."
Emma looked at the door and frowned. Ted.
Seeing her, he quickly ran over. "Carrie, I want to talk to Emma alone. Can you leave for a moment?"
Carrie looked at Emma.
Emma smiled at her. "Go to the first cafeteria and wait for me."
"Emma, come over as soon as you can."
After Carrie left, Ted said unhappily, "I heard you have been hanging out with Robert Erickson
recently."
She laughed coldly. "Ted. What gives you any right to question me?"
"Emma, you have to watch yourself. Don't you see what kind of person Robert Erickson is. If you get
too close to him, you will only get hurt. Listen to me. I'm saying this for your own good."
"You are saying this for my own good? After you and Kristen messed around, you're still pestering
me? You believe whatever Kristen tells you, don't you?"
"I... Kristen did not tell me."
She opened her bag, pulled out a few photos, and threw them in his face. "I was going to give these
to Kristen, but I did not see her today. You can help me get them to her."
Actually, she had planned to give them to Ted in a roundabout way. She knew Ted's character. He
was stubborn and honest, and he hated people doing things behind his back the most. If he saw
Kristen's true character, Kristen would never be his girlfriend.
To people like Kristen, Emma's greatest revenge was to let her love him but not get him.
"What is this?" He quickly flipped through the photos.
In the photos, in a dark alley, there was a disguised woman wearing a hat and a mask. She's stuffing
money into a man's hand. Although the picture was distant, and the background was very dark, he
could still clearly see the woman in the few photos that were deliberately magnified. That woman
was Kristen.
"This is evidence. The day before yesterday, when I was working in a bar, I met a bastard who
wanted to hurt me. It was Robert Erickson who saved me. That person admitted to everyone that
someone hired him to come after me. Other than the person who hired that man, no one else knew
that I met Robert Erickson that day. But now you know. And these photos are the evidence I
needed."
Ted's expression changed drastically. He reached out and pulled her toward him, his face full of
worry. "Are you okay?"
She shook off his hand. "Ted, learn from them. We have only been separated for a few days, and you
are with Kristen. Is it really so easy for you to lie?"
"I'm not with Kristen. I don't like her." Ted frowned. "Trust me. I don't want to break up with you."
"Ted, I don't want to hurt anyone. I don't want to fight with other women for a man. Let me go. I
want to live a peaceful life. Don't come find me again." She walked around him and tried to leave.
"I won't break up with you," Ted said. "I will come find you every day and try to talk to you every
day. I will make you fall in love with me again. I will marry you. Emma, I love you."
The more he shouted, the more students nearby paid attention. People were just standing around,
trying to figure out why this guy was shouting.
Emma's expression was calm as she walked further and further away. A person who claimed to love
her had sex with someone else... Love? Who would believe that?
When Carrie came to class in the afternoon, she excitedly ran up to Emma. "Let me tell you, big
news. That scumbag Ted hit that bitch, Kristen, up at noon today."
"Hit Kristen?" She was shocked. She did not believe that Ted would hit Kristen.
"Many people saw that Kristen went to find Ted, and he pushed her to the ground. I'm happy for
you. You don't know how it feels when she is in the dormitory these days."
She smiled. "This is between me and her. You guys can get along with each other as you like."
"No way. Who knows if she will pry into anyone else's boyfriend in the future? But to be honest, she
doesn't know her own limits. That demonic principal doesn't even take a fancy to a girl like you,
who has both personality and academic qualities? How can she take a fancy to a girl like Kristen?"
Emma was speechless and smiled. "What the principal does not take a fancy to is my family
background."
"You make it sound like her family's ancestors were rich for eighteen generations. It's not a big deal.
I support you."
Emma used her elbow to lightly tap her upper arm. "Thank you."
Five minutes before class, Kristen came over angrily. She stood at the door and looked around the
classroom before she found Emma among the crowd.
She walked over in anger. Her eyes were red and swollen. She threw the photo in her hand on
Emma's desk. "You are ruthless. Emma is ruthless. Do you think I can't find any evidence against
you? Let's just wait and see." After she finished speaking, she snorted coldly and turned around to
leave.
Carrie picked up the photo and looked at it. She was puzzled. "What is this?"
Emma took the photo from Carrie and casually tore it into pieces. She smiled. "Nothing. Class is
about to start."
"Aren't you angry that she treats you like this?"
"Would you bite back the dog that bites you?"
"Okay." Carrie was speechless. "In terms of revenge, remind me to never cross you."
She smiled and instantly felt good. After class, she left the school to go to the Erickson family villa. It
was still a long way from the bus stop to his house. However, she was lucky today. She had only
walked a short distance when she encountered Robert's car.
After getting inside, she smiled at Robert and said, "Mr. Erickson, you're back early."
"There are high school students at home. Of course, I have to return early."
"Okay." She was speechless. It was as if he had done something. When she was tutoring, she really
hadn't seen him care about high school students. After a short silence, the car pulled into the villa.
The two of them got out of the car. Emma said, "I'll go to Samuel's place to tutor first."
"Wait a moment." He walked in front of her and said, "I went to see your principal today."
She looked at him, shocked. "You know her?"
"I guess so. I wanted to talk to her about something."
"Alright."
"Aren't you curious about what we said?"
Her expression was indifferent. "I'm not curious."
"I think you're afraid that she'll say something bad about you."
"She doesn't like me, so it's only right for her to say something bad about me."
"That's strange. You're such an outstanding student. What reason does she have to dislike you?" He
raised his eyebrows, waiting for her to answer.
"Who knows? It's probably because she's old and weak that she admires my youth. Or perhaps...
jealous of my beauty?"
Robert tilted his head toward her. This woman...
She smiled. "Mr. Erickson, I'm going to start your brother's tutoring session now. After all, my
tuition fees are calculated by the hour.``
She walked towards Samuel's residence, but his calm voice came from behind her. "Why did you
choose to stay in school as a teacher?"
She stood still.
"With your grades and abilities, you can definitely enter any of the top 100 companies and find a
good job, but you chose to stay in school. What is your reason?"
"Do I really need a reason?" She looked at him.
"There is always a reason."
"Then... Maybe I don't have great ambitions." She raised her eyebrows. "I just want to live a peaceful
life."
He looked at her. What kind of logic was this? "Do you think that your life in a big company would
not be ordinary?"
"Yes, I don't like playing tricks."
"Who told you that working at a big company would mean scheming against each other?"
She laughed. "A television series."
"Then you should watch less TV in the future."
Actually, she could count all the television dramas she'd watched on one hand. "Okay, I accept. Now
can I go tutor your brother?" She turned around and walked away.
He raised his eyebrows. There was hostility in his eyes. Emma had walked away without answering
his question.
But, in his opinion, the reason she stayed in school to teach must have something to do with Ted.
Thinking about this, he felt unhappy and slightly jealous.
The next day, the two of them left in a car.
On the way, he asked her, "Do you have any plans for tonight?"
She looked at him. "Work."
"Cancel. I have a wine tasting to attend. Come with me. Consider it my reward for helping you out at
the bar the other night."
"Didn't I already thank you?"
"In my opinion, that was not thanks. It was torture. This makes me feel comfortable. That's thanks."
She frowned. She'd never be able to calculate like Capitalists do. "I will make it clear in advance that
I will not drink or provide you with escort services."
He looked at her coldly. "Don't overestimate yourself. You're not qualified enough."
She frowned. What was this awful man saying?
Seeing her angry, he raised his eyebrows and said, "Do you know why you're not qualified?"
She looked at him and did not understand why.
He whispered into her ear, "Your skills in bed are not that good."
Her face turned red. She pushed him and looked at him from the corner of her eye. This man... was
shameless.
He turned his head and smiled, looking out the window.
After class ended in the afternoon, she had just left the school when she was picked up by Tom and
Robert's secretary. The secretary took her to buy a dress. Emma put on makeup, and her hair was
done. She stood in front of the mirror and could not recognize herself. Although her face was still
the same, her clothes made her feel totally uncomfortable. She had never worn such a short dress.
The dress was made of the gauze that wedding dresses were made from. Light yellow flowers
decorated a white background, making her naturally pale skin look soft and smooth. She looked
gentle, delicate, yet not lacking in sexiness.
Her soft hair and the loose tendrils hanging on each side of her forehead were just right. The three-
inch golden high heels made her body look tall and slender. She turned back to look at the female
secretary and worriedly covered her chest with one hand. "Isn't this dress a little awkward?"
The secretary smiled. "Emma, don't worry. Tonight, you will definitely become the center of
attention. I promise."
She exhaled, but... she wanted to say that she only wanted to quietly hide in a corner and freeload a
meal. She did not want to be the center of attention at all!
