Synopsis
Twin Brothers is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and hidden identities in modern Kenya. Kirion and Tajae—two brothers born of the same blood but walking different paths—are caught in a dangerous web of family secrets, political power, and forbidden love. Kirion, a tech genius living a double life, rescues Ada from street thugs one night, setting off a spark that entangles him in a twisted love triangle with Ada and her jealous sister, Cecile. His mysterious wealth, secretive past, and complicated ties to their family draw suspicion and desire in equal measure. Meanwhile, Tajae lives as a humble market trader by day and a feared vigilante by night. His heart, however, is weighed by his vendetta against their corrupt father—Hannes, a powerful government official who abandoned them. Tajae’s secret hacking mission to bring down African governments risks igniting a diplomatic storm and exposing long-buried truths. At the center of this storm is Reina, their manipulative stepmother, a political puppet master determined to protect her empire—even if it means turning family against family. "Twin Brothers" unravels a high-stakes drama of ambition, power, loyalty, and love. When blood ties are tested and secrets unveiled, who will stand, and who will fall?

Chapter 1 - The Night She Met The Ghost

The night was chilly and she was cold and had goosebumps on the bare parts of her skin. Ada was wearing a maroon, sleeveless, bare back tight dress. On her hand was a black purse matching her black neck choker and black (back toJesus) roped sandals. Her hair were standing out from her head rather than lying flat, the popularly known dutch braid. Ada had a markedly pigmented chocolate skin, the one that never burns and always tans. This was a beauty on another level topping it up to an american height with a near model body. The weather was doing her injustice tonight and now she was walking through Uhuru park approaching Serena Hotel, taking a shortcut to appear on the State House Road. Her phone kept buzzing and it was driving her nuts. Ada was already tired and the week was only gaining momentum as today was Wednesday and her boss had already annoyed her. It's ten past ten and Ada was almost losing it and the buzzing phone was just making matters worse. She would occasionally feel that she was either being watched or being followed. She tries increasing her strides but the tight dress would only limit her to the shorts strides making her cat walk gracefully across the park. She finally comes to the road and breathe a sigh of relief. Suddenly she is surrounded by four street urchins in the empty street and they are noisy and reeking of all kinds of smells. These only angers Ada the more but she stands anyway, surprisingly relaxed and steady. "Oya! sister, help us with 100 ksh for coffee. Look, be fast before UoN market closes sister." Presumably he is their leader and spokesperson. Ada scrutinizes them one by one, taking her time. The one who spoke has an over-sized coat with a club on his left hand. The one next to him is sniffing gum from a Kenya Kane bottle and its like he is already drowsing in the effect of the gum. The third one has one shoe and swollen nose. The last one has his trouser cut on one leg and he is carrying a pocket knife with him. "For now I do not have and am also cold. I will bring tomorrow as I pass. For now give way, let me pass." Ada says and attempts to make a move and the spokesperson stops her with his club. "Sister, do you think we are playing with you?You could have requested for an uber if you wanted to teach your place or your lover's place on time.We will sleep with you if you don't give us some money." He says and the rest echoes his sentiments laughing sarcastically. "That's enough boys. Take this 1,000 ksh and go away." A voice erupts a few metres from where they have sorrounded Ada and they all turn in the direction of the voice."Who? Look, go on with your business. Who told you we need your money? God has brought this sister and she has to satisfy all of us." Before they realize what'shappening, their leader is on the ground convulsing. The last boy with a pocket knife also feels like his shoulder was separated from the body and he also falls to the ground. "Retreat, this one is a tough one. Bro forgive us." The one shoe guy tells the gum sniffer and they disappear into the park. "They are right you know. You should have taken an uber to your place." Her saviour tells her and she recognizes him immediately. "Kirion? Oh! It's really you." She hugs him tight her breasts poking into his chest. "Nnnnn!" The boy with the pocket knife whines and Ada loosen her embrace as Kirion squats next to the streeturchin examining him. "Your problem is thinking you can harass anyone anywhere in this Nairobi. If only you could have taken the 1000 note I was offering before, you could be in that market already. Anyway, your friend will wake up by morning and you too will not be able to stand until early hours of the wee morning or the dawn so as to say." Kirion says and straighten up turning to Ada. "Let's go." Kirion starts to walk away and Ada stands akimbo. "Really now Kirion? You were just a gentleman few moments ago and now you are here walking away from me?" She asks. "My job here is done, see tomorrow at work and greet your sister for me." It seems this is what Ada was waiting for and she clicks so hard,Kirion stops and turns to look at Ada. "Am I my sister's keeper? Everytime 'Ada how's your sister, Ada what's your sister like,' Ada your sister this, your sister that. Coward! Go talk to my sister if you are really that interested. Have you ever considered my feelings for once? Don't even answer me. I hate you." Ada tells Kirion and runs past him. Kirion processes all these and realises a jerk he has been to Ada. It's always said that if you truly love someone, you will shy off before garnering the courage to approach them. That's what was happening to Kirion now and he really hated himself for being in this kind of a situation. Ada doesn't deserve this kind of torture. "Ada wait up please." Kirion runs after her. "I don't want to listen to you Kirion, leave me alone." Ada says but she is not walking anymore. "Am sorry. I didn't know you felt this way all this while. Why don't I make it up to you then?" Kirion tells her noticing a smile on her face. "What do you propose?" Ada asks him. "Spend the night at my place then." Kirion tells her. "Only if you get to sleep on the couch." Ada says and Kirion chuckles. "No need, there are many rooms you can sleep in any of them." Kirion replies and Ada feels embarrassed and stupid for thinking Kirion lives in one bed-roomed apartment like her and her sister."Oh! My bad, am sorry." She apologizes. "It's okay, so are you going to .....never mind." Kirion realizes what he is about to do and holds his tongue. "I will inform her when we get there." Ada says smiling and Kirion nods as he requests an Uber.

"My son, today you made a lot of sales and for that I want you to rest tomorrow and let Ephyline sell tomorrow." My mother tells me as I finish recording the day's sales. Ephy as am used to calling her is my neighbour whom we finished 4th form together and as I was joining the university, she went to Kenya Medical Training College in Kisumu. She is a fair-skinned girl, average body size and a bit taller than my mum. After her studies she came back to Siaya to work closer to home though I was informed she wanted to stay closer to me. "Tajae? Are you even listening to me?" Mum asks again. "Yes mummy, but I like selling my groceries myself. If Ephy wants to help, she should help you here at home." I tell her and she shakes her head. "You are just so stubborn." Mum says. I went to Moi University and did a bachelor's degree in agriculture and when I was through with my degree, I decided to start a small business to sustain me and my mum. My dad left us when I was just pronouncing the term 'baba' as I was told and he never came back. My mum has then since struggled for me and am grateful I was able to hold a degree certificate even though I couldn't afford to pursue my dream career. "Ephy likes disturbing you and I will talk to her to stop the idea of selling for me in the market." Mum nods and I kiss her goodnight. I proceed to my hut 'simba' and boot my laptop. Besides agriculture, am good at hacking and I am working on an impossible mission of acquiring some cash from the treasury of four countries in Africa. Ghana, South Africa, Mozambique and of course mother country Kenya. Now before you make a conclusion that am a bad person, am only revenging on my dad for letting us down. He works for the government as the CAS for foreign affairs. I want to shake the diplomacy of these countries and put all the blame on him. This only happens 'if' I succeed before the cyber crime team gets to me first. To the community, am their saviour and to their eyes, I have never wronged someone or fought them. This might be true but my bad sides seems to be active during the night and whoever hurts Tajae or his friends or mum especially, then their judgement comes at night. Am the ghost of the night as the villagers put it. Kids are manipulated to do simple tasks like eating, bathing or the ghost of the night will come to them in their sleep. Cases of theft, and rape has greatly reduced ever since I started this vigilante work. It only happens when something serious happens in the village and just has everything has advantages and disadvantages, I too had those who liked my form of judgement and thosewho didn't. I was sleepy and tomorrow awaits.
