"Oh Cain, are you still writing that pathetic little novel of yours?" she teased, flipping his worn-out notebook open and pretending to gag. "Still dreaming of being a hero? News flash—you're not."
The class roared.

Cain staggered back. "Who… are you?"
She approached like a lover, fingers brushing his cheek. "You wished to vanish. I offer something better."She opened her mouth—and fangs gleamed in the moonlight.
"You are pain incarnate, Cain Morgan. Rejection. Desire. Hatred. You are perfect for my gift."
Cain tried to speak, but she kissed him. Her lips were poison and fire, burning into his soul. Something ancient cracked open inside him.
The last thing he heard before blacking out was her name:"Lilith."
