Upon arriving in Los Angeles, it was morning. Instead of going to the law firm to handle the inheritance procedures first, Gao Yang went to Mr. Federer's home.
He rang the doorbell, and the door was opened by a middle-aged man whom Gao Yang did not recognize.
Seeing Gao Yang, the man who opened the door softly said, "May I ask whom you are looking for?"
Gao Yang solemnly replied, "I am here to visit Mrs. Federer. I am a friend of Mr. Federer."
Gao Yang was dressed very formally, with a somber expression on his face. The middle-aged man nodded and said to Gao Yang, "I am Max Federer, you must be Mr. Gao, right? My father's heir."
Gao Yang nodded and said solemnly, "Yes, it is me."
Max extended his hand, and after shaking hands with Gao Yang, he said solemnly, "Please come in."
After inviting Gao Yang into the living room, Max said in a low voice, "Are you here to receive the inheritance?"
