Chapter 115 - In Search of a Leader (114)

The air felt thick with tension as Violet nodded, her earlier lightness replaced by a more serious demeanor. "We should gather more information. Maybe speak to the traders coming from the outskirts. They might have seen him."

Aeron sighed, glancing at the sky as if searching for answers among the clouds. "It won't be easy. It's like he works in the shadows. "

"True," Violet replied, her voice steady. "But if we don't take risks, the dragons might end up extinct."

As they search for any answer among the village if they have heard or seen of Lyam. However, the more they asked, the more it seems no one has heard or seen from him. Soon enough, their prayers were answered as they overheard two men engaged in a hushed conversation about someone who seemed to have heard about Lyam.

" Did you hear that Lyam stopped another VulcanFire encampment? " One of them said, his voice laced with both disbelief and excitement. The other man nodded enthusiastically, leaning in closer. "I did! They say he managed to sneak in at night and set their supplies ablaze. Can you believe it?"

The group exchanged a quick glance, hope flickering in their eyes.

"This could be the breakthrough we need," Violet whispered, her heart racing. They moved closer, careful to remain hidden, eager to catch every detail of the conversation.

"Word has it he's been doing it alone," the first man continued, his expression a mix of admiration and concern. "But who knows how long he can keep it up? Those VulcanFire warriors are relentless."

That was all they needed to hear. Without hesitation, they hurried toward them, eager for more information.

" Excuse me, sirs, " Starfania said politely. " Do you know where this VulcanFire encampment is? "

The first man gave Starfania a wary glance before nodding. " Now why are you kid looking for the VulcanFire camp? "

" We're actually looking for Lyam. " Aeron interjected trying to not lead to any suspicion of them. The first man frowned slightly, his brows knitting together. "Lyam, huh? That name carries weight around these parts. What do you want with him?"

Starfania glanced at Aeron, unsure of how much to reveal.

"We just need to talk to him. It's important," she said, hoping her tone conveyed sincerity. The second man, taller and broader than the first, stepped forward. "You don't just wander into the VulcanFire encampment. It's risky, especially for kids. What if you're in over your heads?"

Aeron felt a surge of frustration but kept his voice calm. "We've faced worse. We can handle ourselves."

The first man studied them for a moment longer, then exhaled slowly. "Alright, but know this: if you're looking for trouble, you'll find it. The VulcanFire is not to be messed with."

Starfania nodded, determination in her eyes. "We understand. We just want to find Lyam."

The taller man exchanged a glance with his companion, then sighed. "Fine. If you're so keen on this, follow the river. You'll find the encampment that you're looking for."
