Chapter 8 - Gu Feng

After leaving Alexis alone, Leah observed the two people standing there. How did she not realize it before? His hair was its original color, and he had clearly lost weight. His head was down. He had clenched his fists at his side, but he did not react outwardly.

'How did I not see it before?'

She had always joke that she would recognize him if he turned to dust, but just now, she almost missed him.

Gu Feng was always mischievous, donning many disguises in the past so he wasn't chased by fans when he roamed the city. This time, there was no disguise, it was just him, with his dark hair without any funny prosthetics or make-up.

Just at that moment, the shrew raised her hand to slap him.

Leah saw red at that moment. She did not even realize when she got there and forcefully held her hand.

She almost even hit her, but her rationality returned quickly. She could not hit her; the shrew was a celebrity after all. It would not look good if she did. She had to think about Hazel's family.

Leah's expression was dark now, and her gaze was a bit frightening. How dare she touch him?! Who gave her the right to lay her disgusting hands on him?

"You- who do you think you are to stop me?! Do you know who I am?" The woman spluttered.

Leah needed to calm down. Although she wanted to, she definitely could not beat her up, that would be troublesome for everyone. She took a deep breath and gritted her teeth.

"Why, yes, I definitely know who you are. With your behavior here today, you are definitely a market shrew who got a little taste of money and thinks she can disrespect service workers."

"You!" She said, trying to forcefully remove her hand but Leah did not budge.

"It's enough. Haven't you humiliated him enough?! Look at him! What wrong requires you to treat him like this? Are you not an actress? Do you not fear destroying your public image?"

The woman sneered. "Do you know who is behind me? Are you not afraid that I will make your life hell?"

Leah laughed loudly. "Oh? And who does miss Zhao think she is? A C-list actress who has no way to increase her popularity, and can only rely on shocking scenes to trend for a few days?"

That seemed to infuriate her even more, and she struggled even more fiercely. Leah chose that moment to let her hand go, and the woman fell ungraciously.

"Ah! You will definitely regret this, I swear!"

"Swear all you want, but please remember that this is a public place, and your face is recognizable. If you know what is best for you, you will get up and leave with your remaining pride."

The woman looked at her with hatred. She tried to get up, but one of her heels bent when she fell and she stumbled when she tried.

At that moment, the manager of the shop appeared in a hurry and helped her to stand up.

"Miss Ingrid, I sincerely apologize for today. I will definitely deal with this matter." The manager said hurriedly.

Ingrid smiled vindictively. "I want you to fire him and ban that insolent girl permanently."

At that moment, Gu Feng himself spoke. His hoarse voice made Leah's heart tremble.

He bowed deeply to the manager. "I am deeply sorry for this. To atone for my mistake, I will resign this very moment. Thank you for hiring me."

After he was done, he turned and began to walk out of the shop, his head still low.

Ingrid smiled happily, seeing him walk away. Trampling on him was fun. She had already done this to him several times and had gotten him fired at different places. After all, he was everyone's god before and thought he could easily trample on her heart. She had this rare chance to get her revenge on him; she would not let it slip by so easily.

She began to speak haughtily again. "And as for this foolish girl, not even a strand of her hair is allowed to land here."

Leah, who had already turned to leave, rolled her eyes. What just happened had just degraded the shop in her eyes. That manager was very stupid if he was going to be so sycophantic with someone like that, but she had no time to deal with their nonsense. She had to follow Gu Feng.

Just as she was about to exit the shop, Alexis grabbed her forearm. She looked worried.

"Hazel! What has come over you?"

"I am so sorry, Alex. I just couldn't watch that continue to go on."

I made a promise to protect him years ago.

"You're so bold. And what you did for him was really great. But what if your face ends up on the internet and you get scolded for defending him?"

"Honestly, at this point, I don't really care. All I know is that I need to speak to him."

Alexis looked confused.

"Why? I never knew you were a fan of his."

"Who said that? I was always his biggest fan."

Leah smiled sadly and turned away. Alexis followed behind her quietly.

It was all her fault that he ended up like this. She had promised to stay by his side through everything, but she abandoned him. After his family disowned him, she had promised to be his only family, but she abandoned him without realizing it.

She had listened to Aiden and resigned from her position at Xinglin Entertainment, and had stopped being his manager, though she knew he did not want that. She remembered what he said.

'Don't abandon me, Leah.'

Leah laughed bitterly. Their relationship had been strained then, and she reduced contact with him because it made Aiden uncomfortable.

But he had come running the moment she needed help. He had tried to protect her, but had gotten hurt in the end. Aiden had ruined his career. She remembered what that monster said to her afterwards.

'Don't look so upset, darling. That fool tried to take you from me. How could I possibly accept that?'

Her hands were tied heavily then. She could only watch Aiden ruin Gu Feng's life from the house where she was locked up.

She wiped the tears that fell from her face unconsciously. With this strange chance she had gotten, could she really let go of Gu Feng?

She had fit in so well with Hazel's family, and she felt she was living the dream she always had; to have a happy family. She however could never abandon Gu Feng. She had to help him.

Could she unabashedly live a carefree life knowing what Aiden had done? She really wanted to move on and forget everything. She could not waste a second chance focusing on that monster anymore.

But was she really okay with him going unscathed for all his actions against her? Against Gu Feng?

'Or am I just unwilling because I am still scared of him?'
