It had been a month since he had turned 10, which meaned he had the chance to awaken any day now.
He just hoped whatever he got wasn't useless.
And Oko was about 5 now, since her birthday was in January.
His was exactly on valentines day.
Right now, he wanted to see what this building he was in looked like.
They took the same route to the torture chamber every time. He had asked but they always said no, which just bored him even more.
The pain didn't even hurt anymore.
He was actually waiting for it. He wanted it at this point.
It made him excited.
He walked around the room, which was now littered with marks top to bottom.
He was going crazy.
Maybe he wasn't?
Why would he be, right?
Just then, the door opened. It was a man in a suit.
"Hello, young man."
He just glared at him.
"Do you know why we do this and why we are here?"
He shook his head.
"We do this to build the perfect specimen for powers. People say there's a higher chance of a great power when they're in a state of despair."
Higher chance?
Likely just a myth then.
Because fron what i read, it was completely random, no matter the circumstances.
"You may be confused as to why we do whaf we do, but you'll just have to live with it. If you don't get a good power, you'll be killed immediately. So go all in. Bet your life on your power. Or you will die. No matter what."
He stood up and left, leaving Aki alone with this new information.
'So basically, people think there's a higher chance of getting a good power when in a negative state, and that if my power turns out to be complete shit, i die.'
He sat back down, looked up and closed his eyes.
"I'll find you, Oko."
