Angel's POV
I stood in front of my closet, scanning the rows of clothes for the perfect outfit. I was meeting Samuel for lunch at his office, and I wanted to look nice. We'd been best friends since diapers and I knew he'd tease me mercilessly if I showed up looking sloppy. He never misses a chance to mess with me
I settled on a yellow sundress with white flowers, pairing it with a pair of neutral sandals. The dress was bright and cheerful, just like our friendship has been recently. I added a simple silver necklace and a pair of stud earrings, keeping my makeup natural. Yeah, I wore a gown, yeah I used makeup, yeah I might have been dressing up for him but there's no harm there right?.. i mean he knows I like him now and he feels the same too so no qualms
As I headed out the door, I grabbed my bag and checked my phone for the address of Samuel's office building. I'd never been there before, so I wanted to make sure I got it right.
The drive to the office took about 20 minutes, and I found myself humming along to the music on the radio. When I arrived, I parked in the visitor's lot and made my way to the main entrance. Damn!, this building was up high
Inside, the lobby was sleek and modern, with a large reception desk and a bank of elevators. I approached the receptionist and introduced myself, explaining that I was there to see Samuel.
The receptionist smiled and nodded, telling me she had been told to let me in and directing me to take the elevator to the 7th floor. "Turn left when you exit the elevator, and you'll see his office at the end of the hall," she instructed.
I thanked her and made my way to the elevator, pressing the button for the 7th floor. As the doors closed, I took a deep breath and smoothed out my dress. I was excited to see Samuel and catch up over lunch. I missed him a lot
When the elevator doors opened, I stepped out into the hallway and turned left, just as the receptionist had instructed. The hallway was quiet and lined with office doors, each one bearing a nameplate.
I walked to the end of the hall, where I found Samuel's office. The door was open, and I could see him sitting at his desk, typing away on his computer. I smiled and knocked on the doorframe, announcing my arrival.
As I stepped into his office, I couldn't help but notice how the soft light from the window highlighted his features, making him even more handsome. He looked up from his desk, flashing a warm smile that made my heart skip a beat.
"Hey, you look lovely," he said, rising from his chair to greet me.
I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I returned his smile. "Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself."
" Thanks, milady " he says mock bowing
"Cheesy, by the way, your office is high up. Aren't you afraid one of your workers might think it's a good opportunity to commit suicide?"
He chuckles and moves closer to me " I can never understand your way of thinking, it's too unique "
" What'd you mean?" I ask pouting
" I was complimenting you, kitten. I wouldn't insult you now, would I?"
I cough awkwardly in an attempt to cover up how flustered I was " I'm starving" a poor excuse if you ask me, I literally just ate like 2 hours ago but I'd never miss a chance to get free food
"Shall we grab some lunch? I know this great place just around the corner."
I nodded enthusiastically, and we headed out of the office, strolling through the quiet streets until we reached a cozy-looking restaurant. The sign above the door read "Bella Vita," and the aroma of freshly baked bread and simmering sauces wafted out, making my stomach growl with anticipation.
As we walked in, Samuel held the door open for me, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "After you."
I smiled, feeling a spark of electricity as our arms touched. Inside, the restaurant was bustling with the lunch crowd, but we managed to snag a quiet table by the window. The sunlight streaming in highlighted the dust motes dancing in the air, adding to the relaxed ambiance.
As we perused the menu, Samuel leaned in, his voice low and conspiratorial. "I'm warning you, their pasta is addictive."
I playfully rolled my eyes. "I can handle it."
Samuel chuckled. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. You and your legendary self-control."
I laughed. "Hey, I resent that. I have excellent self-control."
Samuel raised an eyebrow. "Really? Then why did you eat an entire pizza by yourself last week?" How'd he know that?, guess my mum is really working closely with this guy and I seriously need to get my own apartment
I grinned sheepishly. "That was a research. I was testing the limits of human pizza consumption."
Samuel burst out laughing. "You're ridiculous, Angel."
I smiled, feeling happy to be sharing this moment with him. "That's why you love me."
Our banter was interrupted by the waiter, who took our orders with a friendly smile.
As we waited for our food, I told Samuel about my latest dance classes. "I'm really loving it," I said. "It's such a great way to unwind and express myself."
Samuel smiled. "You're so passionate about it. Have you ever thought about pursuing a career in dance?"
I laughed, a career?. I'd probably be the clown dancer. "No, I don't think so. I just love it as a hobby."
Samuel nodded understandingly. "That makes sense. So, how's the house hunt going?"
I sighed. "It's going slow. I've seen a few places, but nothing that's really stood out to me like my previous apartment yet."
Samuel nodded sympathetically. "I know how that is. It's tough to find the perfect place. But you'll get there."
" I know, thank you"
" What's your top priority in a house?"
I thought for a moment. "I think it's a big backyard. I want to be able to have a garden and maybe even a little patio area."
Samuel grinned. "You're going to be a suburbanite"
I laughed. "Hey, I just want a nice place to call my own." You don't have to put it that way
When our orders arrived, we dug in, savoring the flavors and textures. The pasta was indeed addictive, and I found myself stealing bites from his plate more than once
As we ate, Samuel started making funny faces at me, trying to get me to laugh. I tried to maintain a straight face, but eventually, I couldn't help giggling.
At one point, Samuel reached across the table and gently brushed a strand of hair behind my ear, successfully wiping off the sauce on my cheek with his hands, his touch sending shivers down my spine. "You have a bit of sauce on your cheek," he whispered before licking it off his fingers, his eyes sparkling with amusement and mischief.
I felt my face heat up, but I couldn't help smiling. "Thanks for helping me but you could have just told me."
" I know but I just didn't want to. Any problem?" He asks with a raised brow
" Of course not" I reply smiling
As we finished our meal and prepared to leave, Samuel reached for the check, his hand brushing against mine. "I've got this," he said, smiling.
"Of course, you have to pay. You're the man"
"What happened to gender equality, kitten?"
I turn red from embarrassment as I drag him out the door "what'd you do that for" I whisper shouted
He chuckles at my very obvious embarrassment "oooh, is our little kitten shy?, don't be shy baby, Daddy's got you"
" Oh, you did not just say that" I ask with eyes as wide as a saucer pan "who made you like this?, you do not say things like that outside, you dummy"
"You don't like it?"
"Me?, i- I obviously don't have anything agai--" I pause "that's not the point here"
" See..!!. You clearly have nothing against me saying it"
" That doesn't justify you saying it"
"Whatever, I'll take you home"
"As you should, bruh"
He keeps quiet but as soon as we get settled in the car, he asks like what I said just finally dawned on him"did you just call me bruh?"
"Maybe I did" and he pouts. The high CEO just pouted at me and dang, he looks so cute Gawd
"You have to make it up to me"
"How?"
"I want you to do something for me"
"Fine, what do you want me to do ?"
He smirks and I knew he wasn't up to no good "Dance for me kitten"
