"Rufus. We have known each other a long time. We have fought together as Aurors, and that develops a certain level of trust. I need to take that level of trust a bit further today, so please forgive me." Madam Bones said. She then lifted her sleeves exposing her forearms. She looked at him, waiting. Scrimgeour took the hint and lifted his own sleeves. No Dark Mark was visible. Madam Bones let out a breath she had not really known she was holding. "Again, I am sorry, but I just had to be sure." She said. "I understand" Scrimgeour replied. "What is it you want to talk about?" he asked. "Our Ministry is riddled with Death Eaters and sympathizers. We need to identify them and weed them out, otherwise we are going to have a real problem on our hand. You saw the outcome of that battle today. Let me ask you, how long do you think that battle lasted?" she asked. "The first spell was recorded at 10am, we arrived at 10:20am. So, my guess about 15-20 minutes?" he replied. "You would be more than 10-15 minutes off." Madam Bones countered. "It was over in literally 2 to 3 minutes! They destroyed 30 Dementors, killed 15 Giants, and killed 25 Death Eaters, all in just 2 to 3 minutes. Not one muggle soldier was injured, and there was very minimal structural damage. The Commander looked me in the eye and told me a few things: (a) information was being leaked from the Ministry to the Death Eaters about muggle fighting strategies; (b) The muggle Prime Minister has repeated his order to kill all terrorists "with extreme prejudice; and (c) today's action is only a small sample of what they can, and will do if we do not take care of You-Know-Who. He told me that the Prime Minister has given us one week to eradicate You-Know-Who, or they will provide us with a more Public message than the action taken today. I am so frustrated with Fudge! I need to convene an emergency session of the Wizengamot. Can I rely on your support?" she asked. "Yes, of course, Madam Bones" Rufus responded.
At 2:00pm Madam Bones and Rufus Scrimgeour met with Minister Fudge. "Minister, who have you told about our meetings with the muggle Prime Minister." She asked. "I've consulted with some friends. That is neither here nor there. The muggles cannot just kill wizards. I am calling for an emergency Wizengamot meeting today. " he said.

December 23, 1995. 5:00pm. Ministry of Magic, Wizengamot. "I call this emergency session of the Wizengamot to order!" called Minister Fudge. "The muggles have gone too far. They have killed nearly 100 good citizens of magical England with no provocation. We cannot let this stand. This Ministry must be seen to be doing something. These are provocations of war!" called the Minister.
Madam Bones lit her wand to be heard, but was ignored.
"On November 9th last, 10 of our good citizens were murdered while shopping in Exeter. On November 23rd last, 30 more of our good citizens were murdered while visiting the town of Goathland. On December 20th last, 20 citizens were murdered having dinner in a suburb of London. Madam Bones told me that today, 25 more citizens were murdered visiting Christ Church. These provocations must NOT be allowed to continue."
Madam Bones again lit her wand to be heard, but was once again ignored.
"Chief Warlock. I've lit my wand to speak. Why am I being ignored!" she called out to Dumbledore. "You will have your turn to speak" he said.
"The murders in the London suburb were done at the home of Hermione Granger, a magical Citizen. I call for her and her family to be arrested and tried for assisting in murder. Miss Granger has withdrawn from Hogwarts – she considers herself above us purebloods! She is also the former friend of Harry Potter, a person we know as a traitor to our way of life. A trouble maker. She should be found guilty of treason and assisting in murder and she and her family sent to Azkaban!" Fudge continued.
Once again Madam Bones lit her wand, requesting to be acknowledged. Once again, she was ignored. Dumbledore needed Miss Granger in England. Whether she was in Azkaban or not was of no consequence. Through her he felt he could control Potter, once he was found, his magic restored, and his memories restored.
The Wizengamont voted to arrest Miss Granger and her family, and kill any muggle responders. She and her family would be immediately sent to Azkaban.
Madam Bones left in disgust.
