When Ash, Karen, and her gang arrived at the designated location, Karen put her arm around Ash's shoulders and said: "This guy here is sort of my junior—his name's Ash. He's a rookie trainer who just started his journey, so he should meet your standards, right?"
The people opposite examined Pikachu on Ash's shoulder and Meowth and Chansey by his side, then nodded in agreement.
"No problem, but please don't forget, Elite Four Karen. For this battle, you can only use Dark-type Pokémon."
"Of course, my little brother specifically brought Dark-types to help me out."
"That's good. Hello young man, I'm Krane, and this is my assistant Shuji beside me."
When Krane introduced himself, Ash responded very politely. "Hello. I'm Ash from Pallet Town. I just recently started my journey, and this time I was called by Sister Karen to help out."

"Then I'll show my hand too—go, Mightyena!"
Upon hearing Ash mention Mightyena, Krane and Shuji exchanged glances—the plan was simple... They'd just ignore Karen and directly attack Ash's Pokémon later. After all, their Pokémon were elite-tier powerhouses. Dealing with some rookie who just started his journey would be child's play.
However, when Karen's Honchkrow and Ash's Mightyena were released, both their faces turned green.
"Wow!"
With the terrifying malice emanating from Mightyena the moment it appeared, even the Fighting-type Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan were intimidated and took several steps back.
Looking at the fiercely intimidating Mightyena in Ash's team, Krane felt he might have encountered a tough opponent. Just as Krane and his companion were somewhat startled by the Mightyena's strength, the referee raised his hand and announced, "First match - Honchkrow and Mightyena versus Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee! Begin!"
"Go! Hitmonchan, use Bullet Punch on Mightyena!"
"Go, Hitmonlee uses High Jump Kick on the Mightyena!"
"Hitmonchan!"
"Hitmonlee!"
Upon hearing their trainer's command, Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee immediately unleashed their signature moves towards the Mightyena. Seeing this, Karen instantly understood their strategy.
'For an ordinary person it would be fine, but with Ash...'
"Honchkrow, use Wing Attack."
"Whoa!"
As Honchkrow's wings glowed white, it charged directly towards Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. Seeing Honchkrow of Elite Four Karen approaching, Shuji hurriedly commanded, "Hitmonchan! Use Protect to block it!"
"Hitmonchan, go!"
As Hitmonchan's body was enveloped in a green protective barrier, the Honchkrow's attack was completely blocked. Krane excitedly shouted, "Got you now!"
"Oh really? Mightyena, Sand Attack."
Upon hearing Ash's command, the already prepared Mightyena immediately kicked up a pile of sand directly into Hitmonlee's eyes. Blinded, Hitmonlee's High Jump Kick missed completely as Mightyena dodged effortlessly. At that moment, Ash took a mask from Meowth and put it on his face before saying in a deep voice: "Mightyena, Crunch."
"Roar!"
With a howl, the Mightyena opened its jaws and clamped down hard on the Hitmonlee, then began violently shaking and tearing at it. Ash's group of little brothers immediately erupted in cheers upon seeing this.
"It's appeared! The old lady's Mightyena's signature move! Deep Tear! That's when it latches onto the enemy with its fangs and utterly destroys them with terrifying shredding power!"
"Whoa! Go get 'em!" *N
"What!"
Krane never expected his Hitmonlee's attack to be completely countered by a simple Sand Attack. Now, it was pinned to the ground by the Mightyena, its jaws clamped down mercilessly.
"Hitmonchan, support Hitmonlee! Use Bullet Punch!"
Shuji saw his boss's Hitmonlee being restrained and quickly ordered his Hitmonchan to help. However, he forgot one thing.
"Forgotten me? That would be quite troublesome. Honchkrow, use Aerial Ace!"
"Whoa!"
"Oh no!"
As Honchkrow swiftly swept past Hitmonchan, the latter lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground. Seeing that Karen had dealt with Hitmonchan, Ash then commanded, "Mightyena, take him down! Throw it up and use Giga Impact!"
Heard Ash's command, the Mightyena that was fiercely biting and tearing at the Hitmonlee directly flung it into the air. Then as it fell, the Mightyena slammed into it with full force.
BOOM!
With a tremendous crash... the Hitmonlee was sent flying into the wall. It then lost consciousness, lying motionless on the ground.
"First match: Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan defeated! Winners: Honchkrow and Mightyena!"
Krane stared in disbelief as his Hitmonlee was defeated by a Dark-type Pokémon, then turned his shocked gaze toward Ash. But when he saw Ash's mask, his pupils constricted sharply.
"That mask with the sinister smile... you... Are..."
"Let me introduce myself again. I'm Ash, a rookie trainer from Pallet Town. Also a Dark-type trainer. Leader of the pack."
