Selene could feel her heart pounding loudly as she sat at the back of the cab, her pulse pumping in her ears, her brain racing with several thoughts.
Ever since Sandy told her the news about Cyrus being in the hospital, she had not been able to think properly. It felt like she was a third person in her own body.
"Selene, you have to relax," Sandy said calmly, for the hundredth time since they boarded the cab on the way to the hospital.
But Selene said nothing, as she could already feel sweat pooling in her palms.
As her head spun with questions, what happened? She had left Cyrus with Cassie, so how did she let him out of her sight long enough to get injured?
And to make matters worse, the nurse who called Sandy had not given them much to hang on to.
The only words that kept echoing through Selene's head were that Cyrus had an accident, and he was in the hospital.
