NATHAN'S POV
My legs didn't stop moving until I got back to the house. I walked so fast, I almost broke out in a run, thinking that they were after me. Maybe they had seen me, maybe they were going to run after me.
My heart was pounding. What I had heard—everything that had been exposed to me—was surely not something I should've heard. They had plans, they were after something, and it could be that Derrick might be innocent.
How come she was in a relationship with a councilman? How come she brought someone here that wasn't her father? What was going on? What were they planning?
Derrick might be innocent. Surely Derrick had no clue about this. He must've been clueless about this whole thing, but who would blame him? They had played their part so well—even Kendrick, who wasn't her real father, looked like her a bit.
What was going on?
