Rebecca was evidently excited at being called into Clara's office while Andrew Sterling was inside.
Anne, however, hesitated. She had just rejoiced that she wouldn't have to be in the presence of that man.
Why had she suddenly been called for?
The secretary, who was still waiting for the people she called, began to look impatient. While Anne hesitated due to uncertainties in her mind, Rebecca was busy grabbing a compact mirror to touch up her makeup.
When the secretary opened the office door, a sound of soft laughter could be heard from the inside.
Anne was surprised.
That was because she'd never heard Clara laugh before.
The woman's face looked soft and radiant as she laughed. Anyone would find themselves mesmerized at the view of such a beauty.
The man in the room, however, maintained a stone-cold face. It was as if whatever joke Clara was laughing at had nothing to do with him at all.
