She bit her lip, her eyes lowering as she stared at the wine glass in his hand.
The room's light hit her face just right, making her eyelashes tremble slightly, it made her look weirdly beautiful.
"You scared I'll take advantage of you when you're drunk?" he asked, like he could read her mind. "If I really wanted a woman, I've got a million ways. I wouldn't need to stoop this low. Even if I took you right here and now, no one would dare say a word."
Rachel silently laughed at herself for overthinking it.
She took the glass and downed it all at once. The wine tasted both bitter and sweet as it slid down her throat.
She wasn't the type to drink much. Back when she had to go to work dinners, she'd usually just sip champagne.
After all, she used to be Ralph's girlfriend, and no one had the guts to force her to drink.
