When she heard the God of Destruction's words, the Goddess of Life sighed helplessly.
"Little Zi, we don't really have the right to criticize Tang San. After all, what we've done also interferes with the lower realm, breaking the God Realm's rules."
The God of Destruction nodded, gently caressing the Goddess of Life's cheek.
"There's no other way, Little Green. Finding a suitable successor is too difficult. To ensure everything goes perfectly, and for the child we'll one day bring into the world after we relinquish our godhood, this was the only choice. Heh… perhaps you're right. Maybe we don't have the right to condemn Tang San's actions either. But beyond that, the matter of expanding the God Realm—its future direction—is incredibly important. I once considered handling it myself, but I never expected that successor to have the potential to unify both the God of Destruction and the Goddess of Life's divine seats. If he truly succeeds, we won't need to worry about the future of the God Realm. By then, you and I can go wherever we like."
"Mhm. I look forward to that day, Little Zi."
Tang San was troubled—deeply troubled.
Ever since the God of Destruction discovered he had tampered with the lower realm through the threads of fate, he'd been in a completely passive position. Every move he made was now under the watchful eyes of countless beings in the God Realm. His grand plan had stalled completely.
Feeling the widening gap between the fate of the lower realm's child of destiny and that of his own daughter, Tang San was so vexed he could barely contain his frustration. Fortunately, his beloved Xiao Wu was still at home and helped him release some of that tension.
To avoid further suspicion for meddling, Tang San had even been forced to withdraw the fragment of his daughter's soul he had secretly placed inside the Emperor Auspicious Beast.
Even with all this, the God Realm's greatest, most cunning strategist wasn't about to give up. He still needed that so-called child of destiny to become his… loyal hound—no, his capable assistant!
Of course, he had no idea that the Gods of Destruction and Life had already taken a bold risk and granted that very child of destiny a portion of their divine power, essentially declaring him the next successor.
So, completely unaware, Tang San moved forward with his next best plan—tormenting his daughter.
Yes, tormenting. Tang San and his daughter in the lower realm were spiritually connected on the deepest level. He had even placed an anchor point in her spiritual sea. Through this, he could subtly influence her thoughts—implanting painful emotions and a compulsive desire to seek out the child of destiny.
And this was all thanks to a divine artifact Tang San controlled—the Mirror of Prophecy, which let him foresee all that could unfold if his daughter and the child of destiny were to meet from the beginning.
To his delight, his daughter had finally made the decision to go find the child of destiny! As long as they started interacting, he could easily begin manipulating things from behind the scenes.
Of course, this was also a form of tempering for his "precious" daughter. After all, without enduring storms, how could one see the rainbow? And once the bond between his daughter and the child of destiny deepened, Tang San planned to properly shape that future assistant of his.
Now, the real issue troubling him was what to do about the person currently deeply entangled with the child of destiny via another thread of fate.
"Maybe… probably… I'll have to eliminate her. Heh, don't blame me for being heartless, little girl. This is all for the greater plan of the God Realm. Without it, there wouldn't even be a lower realm for you to exist in. Learn to be grateful."
And with that, our great Tang Buddha began calculating his next grand move.
—
In the lower realm, Huo Yuhao suddenly felt a chilling shiver, interrupting his work on a soul tool.
"…What the hell?"
His mood had been gloomy for days, like a cloud hanging over his heart.
Still, he didn't take it too seriously. Probably just exhaustion from overwork, he thought. After all, the upcoming exchange program was only three days away. Jing Hongchen had already led the exchange group, including Xiao Hongchen, to the border between the Sun Moon Empire and the Heavenly Soul Empire. They were escorting the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy's exchange students and preparing to receive the ones from Shrek Academy. In about three days, Huo Yuhao would meet them.
But for Huo Yuhao, this exchange program was more than just a formality. There were several important tasks he needed to complete during this period. Some of them others knew about. Some… only he knew.
"Wang Dong is coming from Shrek too, right? Wait…"
He suddenly slapped the table, eyes widening.
He had just realized the likely source of his recent unease.
If Wang Dong was coming, that meant they might end up in close contact—and that also meant getting entangled with Tang Buddha. And when had anything involving Tang Buddha ever ended well?
"Of course. That explains it."
Although Huo Yuhao didn't have the prophetic accuracy he sometimes claimed to, and hadn't fused with the Auspicious Beast's third eye, as the child of destiny of this world, he still had some vague sense of the future.
Now, he couldn't help but worry. It seemed trouble was coming.
If trouble was coming from Tang Buddha, then the only countermeasure he could think of was to continue refining his grasp over the two divine powers that could oppose him—Destruction and Life.
Huo Yuhao suspected that the God of Destruction and Tang San were already at odds in the God Realm. That might explain why, despite everything, he could remain in the Sun Moon Empire without suffering any backlash from Tang San's meddling.
To Huo Yuhao, the greatest threat Wang Dong posed was that she might be Tang San's easiest anchor to interfere with the lower realm. Her spiritual sea most likely contained some horrifying seal planted by Tang Buddha himself.
Aside from Wang Dong, the only other places in the lower realm likely touched by Tang San's power were the Sea God Pavilion at Shrek Academy, the Icefire Yin Yang Well, and the Valley of Love. But with the God of Destruction and the Goddess of Life watching, those locations were probably no longer a major threat.
"If it really comes down to it, I might need to lay low for a while. Go somewhere quiet. What a pain… But I was planning to take Senior Sister Meng to the Extreme North anyway."
Even if he feared interference from Tang Buddha, Huo Yuhao had to visit the Icefire Yin Yang Well eventually—for Meng Hongchen's sake, and for the many treasures hidden there.
