Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Fusion Experiment

"So, Dracina, can you explain what exactly I can fuse here? or synthesize, or whatever you call it?"

[ Answer: Host can fuse anything that exists in the Fusion Archive. Skill with Skill. Bloodline with Bloodline. Skill with Bloodline. Even multiple targets can be synthesized together to create hybrid species. This process often results in unpredictable traits: evolved, mutated, or entirely new hybrid organisms. ]

Yuki blinked.

"So basically, this doesn't let me create Dragons?" he asked with deadpan expression. "Then why is it called the Dragon God System?"

[ Answer: Title is symbolic. It represents Host's potential to stand above all dragons and species as a God of Evolution. Not necessarily tied to the act of reproduction. ]

Yuki looked at the sky screen hovering over him with a complicated expression.

"So... it's a branding gimmick."

[ Correction: A divine designation. ]

"Excellent Marketing," he muttered again.

Nevertheless, Yuki wasn't too worried. If he could eventually extract some true Dragon bloodlines, then the dream of commanding a few Dragon subordinates might not be so far-fetched.

He smirked to himself.

"Now then... how should I synthesize myself with these Skills? I don't want to fuse with those lower bloodlines though. Their mutation wouldn't suit me."

[ Host can initiate Fusion with a simple mental command. ]

[ And just a friendly reminder: fusing with lower bloodlines can strengthen your body, as long as you suppress any mutations using your superior Dragon heritage. Doing so will refine and empower your core bloodline over time. ]

Yuki looked enlightened.

"Oh... so that's how it works. Use the inferior to strengthen the superior... I like it."

He nodded with determination.

"Alright then—let's begin."

He mentally commanded the system to fuse with [Water Resistance] first.

The moment his thought registered, a stream of glowing blue energy surged from the Archive. Before he could blink, it pierced into his small dragon body like a spectral spear, silent and forceful.

Suddenly, a brilliant white radiance erupted around him, otherworldly and blinding.

Ding!

[ Self Fusion has been initiated. Estimated time: 10 seconds ]

"Argh!"

Pain struck.

Not on the surface. Not on flesh or bone. It came from somewhere deeper. A searing, soul-level agony that made his tiny claws dig into the platform beneath him.

His breath hitched.

His vision blurred.

But Yuki gritted his teeth. He would not scream. He would not faint.

He knew, instinctively, that losing consciousness now could cause the fusion to fail.

And he couldn't afford that.

He didn't want to stay weak. Not again.

Not like in his past life, helpless and dying slowly in that lone hospital bed. Compared to everything he had already suffered, this was nothing.

He clenched his jaw, endured the agony, and welcomed the Fusion.

Seconds later, the radiant light vanished, replaced by a crisp and cheerful system chime:

[ Congratulations, Host! Your Fusion is successful. ]

[ You have acquired a new passive Skill: Water Resistance (F) ]

[ Water Resistance: Increases your defense by 10% against Water-based attacks ]

Yuki let out a long, shaky breath. Relief washed over him. His body still tingled from the fusion, but it was done. He had succeeded.

Curious, he pulled up his status screen.

____

[ Name: Yuki Igarashi ]

[ Age: 5 Years (Physical) ]

[ Lifespan: 30 Years ]

[ Species: Frost Dragon ]

[ Level: 3 ]

[ Strength: 11 ]

[ Agility: 8 ]

[ Defense: 8 ]

[ Mana: 21 ]

[ Skills: Shell Sense (F), Frost Breath (F), Water Resistance (F) ]

___

Sure enough, the new skill sat neatly among his existing abilities. But this wasn't just text on a screen. He could feel the difference. A subtle shift in his scales. A faint coolness that lingered under his skin.

Like a protective barrier had formed deep within him, ready to absorb and dull the sting of water-based damage.

"Alright, now I want to try fusing two skills."

Yuki narrowed his eyes as he studied the glowing entries inside the Archive. Only three skills remained. After some thought, he chose:

[ Skyblade Wings (F) ]

[ Water Toad's Leap (F) ]

They hovered before him as two distinct orbs—one shimmering with a metallic blue hue, the other a pulsating gray-green. He raised his clawed paw and gave the mental command.

[ Initiating Skill Fusion: "Skyblade Wings" + "Water Toad's Leap" ]

[ Estimated time: 6 seconds ]

The two glowing orbs began to spiral around each other. Sparks danced through the air as blue and gray energy twisted into a vortex, growing more chaotic with each rotation.

Yuki's heart raced. Would it result in something powerful? Something unique? He held his breath.

The light pulsed once. Then twice. Then—

Ding!

[ Skill Fusion Complete ]

[ Skills Evolved Into: Windleap Dash (E) ]

> Windleap Dash (E): A mid-air burst skill that combines explosive leg force with wing-assisted propulsion. Increases leap range, jump height, and allows a short aerial dash. Grants reduced fall impact and improved evasion reflexes.

Yuki's eyes lit up.

"An E-Rank Skill! And it sounds really useful too."

This was the kind of progress he had been waiting for.

"Not bad... This is going to be fun."

Next, Yuki didn't hesitate to fuse the newly acquired skill into himself.

[ Initiating Self Fusion With Windleap Dash (E) ]

Bright energy surged around him again, this time sharper and cleaner than the last. His body tingled as if something clicked into place inside his bones and wings.

Ding!

[ Self Fusion Is Successful ]

[ You Have Acquired a New Active Skill: Windleap Dash (E) ]

That marked his second personal fusion. He could feel it clearly now—the subtle tension in his limbs, the improved balance in his steps, the slight twitch in his wings ready to push him at a moment's notice.

"Only one more left for today," he whispered, grinning to himself.

He was over the moon. His confidence surged along with his strength. The system, the fusion, the power—everything was falling into place.

But he wasn't done.

"Now let's see what happens when I try fusing a bloodline," he murmured, his voice low with anticipation. "If I can suppress the mutation, then this will be a game-changer."

He opened the Archive and selected the most promising one: [ Sky Dragonfly (F) ]. Light-blue and translucent, the bloodline orb hovered in front of him like a suspended jewel.

The real test had come. If he could truly fuse a weaker bloodline without suffering a mutation, then the Dragon God System wasn't just powerful, it was terrifying.

"Alright, Dracina... let's do this."

And with a silent command, the fusion began.
