Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 The Split

"You are grounded till Thursday," Claire said, causing Liam to grit his teeth.

It wasn't even my fault...

Wait.

That's right!

It wasn't my fault.

Why should I have to be punished?

"It wasn't even my fault I was late, some guy tried to pick a fight with me," Liam said, catching Claire's attention.

"What do you mean?" Claire asked.

"Yeah, I was heading to my locker to put my bag down and head to class, but this guy tried to fight me"

"Why didn't you report it to your teachers?"

"I won the fight, there was not really any need to blow this up" Liam said.

"Why was he even trying to fight?" She asked.

"He found out that I had wanted to take his position as the Lacrosse captain, his ego didn't take that too well" Liam said.

"Since when were you interested in Lacrosse?" Claire asked turning her head back to look at Liam.

"About a week ago" Liam said with a straight face.

"Well, fine, but your father will talk to you about this," Claire said.

Liam let out a sigh as he lay back in the car seat.

At that time he got a notification on his phone.

Switching it on, he glanced at the mail he had just received.

It was from the school, asking him to stay back for the Community night tomorrow to help set it all up because he had put his name down on the volunteers list.

Liam glanced at his phone and then at Claire for a second.

And he brought it up.

"Mom, tomorrow I will have to stay back in school till 6," Liam said as he handed his phone to Claire to look at the email.

Her eyes were scrunched as she read the mail for a few seconds before she nodded.

Hailey and Luke opened the door soon and climbed into the car.

"Hey, Mom," Luke and Haley said.

"Hey guys, how were classes" Claire asked.

"They were good" Luke and Haley replied.

Haley switched on her phone and started texting her friends.

Liam glanced at Haley's phone and accidentally discovered that Haley was planning on ditching the Community night and heading towards the reserve with Dylan, Lydia, Jackson, and a few other friends.

Liam felt a headache coming on.

They could have gone anywhere, yet they chose to go to the woods, Liam thought as he rubbed his temple.

Alex walked into the car at this point as well and Claire started driving.

"So Haley and Liam, you've got your PSAT next week Monday, how are the preparations going?" Claire asked.

"It's going well Mom" Liam said, he had been putting a lot of time into studying, his future finances depended on those results after all.

Haley, on the other hand, was silent for a few seconds, causing Claire to glance back at her through the rearview mirror.

"Yeah... the PSAT," Haley chuckled as she stopped texting and put her phone down.

"I'm ready for it, come at me PSAT" she said as if the PSAT was tryna come and fight her.

Liam took one glance at her and knew that Haley had completely forgotten about the PSAT.

But right now, he was preoccupied with another thought.

How exactly was he going to prevent Haley from going to the forest.

At least make sure she was safe.

They soon arrived home, Liam still not managing to come to a conclusion.

They stepped inside and saw Phil was there.

"Hey guys," He said with a raise of his coffee cup, wearing a robe over his clothes while sitting on the couch.

"Hey Dad," Liam said.

Haley, Alex, and Luke also greeted Phil, who nodded and went back to watching the news.

Alex headed towards the kitchen to get herself some water.

Haley went straight to her room.

Luke went over to Phil.

"Hey, Dad, they said my class is going on a field trip soon," Luke said excitedly.

"Really, that's awesome, but buddy, I got some more good news for you," Phil smirked.

"You are gonna like this as well, Liam," Phil said as he glanced back at Liam, who was putting away his bag at the moment.

"Grandpa Jay has invited us to a Plane strip to fly some of the RC planes with him and his buddies on Saturday," Phil said with an excited smile.

"Really!" Luke exclaimed, looking at Phil with excitement.

"Yep, you better believe it, buddy," Phil said with a grin on his face.

[Liam's Pov]

Putting my bag away, I heard Phil's words.

I felt a surge of excitement within me, but my mind did not feel much hearing Phil's words.

I glanced back at my memories.

Before "I" became "Liam Dunphy", "Liam Dunphy" was a major fan of RC planes and overall anything plane-related.

The body, he glanced at himself.

It is used to firing off these emotions when hearing about flying planes.

But I think differently than the previous "Liam Dunphy."

We're the same person… but different

"I am super excited," I said, mustering up a small smile.

"Hey, Dad, can I fly one of Grandpa's planes?" Luke asked attracting Phil's attention.

I glanced at the system.

The daily missions were available for completion.

Warming my shoulders a little, I begin to walk up the staircase.

Trying to take my mind off the current issue

The Next Day.

Classes ended and I bade farewell to Scott and Stiles.

I made my way towards the Auditorium, where everybody who was participating in setting up the Stalls and food stands, along with decorating the place, was asked to gather.s
