Chapter 19 - With autumn comes a task (19)

The talk with Yukinotard lasted a long time, and I eventually arrived late to magic class. But the teacher wasn't angry, because he understood the importance of this message.

Today, magic class taught us how to send messages to one another over long distances. Apparently, if you take any piece of paper and infuse it with a potion called Kafka, then rip it apart, anything written on one half will also appear on the other.

The potion formula is a bit complicated because it requires the user to perform ritual magic, and we—being new students—have to learn that first. The teacher assigned it as a project to create this magical paper.

The required herbs were given to us in advance by the teacher. The potion contains:

50 ml of normal water

10 g of telekinesis herbs

2 g of black flour

The day flew by like a train at the speed of light, and in the blink of an eye, a month had passed. The tournament was getting closer, and during this time, I was able to level up well. My current attribute levels are:

Agility: 30

Strength: 15

Mana: 15

Charisma: 0

Vigor: 20

Combat: 5

Perception: 5

The start of leveling is easy because with each level, you gain five attribute points, but later—after your first Path Evolution—this decreases to 3. Eventually, it goes down to just 1 point per level.

Meanwhile, at home — Lutz's POV

I know I finally have an income that might someday make my dream come true. This guild I randomly joined—The Deception of Winter—has given me the opportunity to take on missions. I've already earned two gold coins, which I immediately stored in the system's inventory for safety.

Of course, I could spend them on items to boost my stats or on potion formulas, but imagine having my own guild, with a cruel secret behind it that will eventually make me rich.

The mafia idea I talked about earlier won't be easy—but the casino plan... That one I'll consider. I'll look around for buildings in the market district that I could possibly buy. But for that to happen, I need at least 150 gold coins. Also, at my age, buying property isn't allowed, but I hope to find a way around that.

A day passed, and the tournament was only a week away. It was Monday, and I could feel the light, warm air of autumn.

At school, I met Yukinotard. Beside him was Ray, who had red cheeks.

"I think we haven't greeted each other since the day with the assassins," I said out of habit.

"That's true," she replied, her cheeks turning even redder.

We shook hands, and Yukinotard began a serious conversation.

"We are not here for children playing with puppets. With charisma, you could surely become a great manipulator. But that's not why we're here. I've received a new task from the Revenant Guild that I'd like to share with you."
