After solidifying the replication ability, the vast white Arctic terrain lay before him. A piercing blue laser shot from Russell's eyes, stretching out over a hundred meters and slicing through the distance. It burned a deep trench into the permafrost that hadn't thawed in centuries.
Molten lava flowed, scorching heat rising in waves—the scene was terrifying.
But Russell shook his head, clearly unsatisfied.
"Only when it's strong enough to cleave an iceberg clean in two will it barely be acceptable."
Such power would only be useful when facing an opponent who demanded his full effort.
"Laser eyes…"
Russell's gaze flickered. He suddenly recalled that in the The Boys universe, besides Homelander, there was another who possessed an equally terrifying laser vision.
"A child's eyes are no different from an adult's. Even at that age, Kid Homelander's laser eyes were likely no weaker than Homelander's."
Like the time he, in a fit of rage, glared Stormfront into a crippled mess—that was proof enough.
"And... today's greatest gain."
Russell switched templates and applied the Eve template. A pink glow surged from his palm. Disliking the girlish hue, he altered the energy color to blue instead.
He levitated a chunk of soil from the ground into his hand.
Concentrating deeply, he perceived every molecule within the dirt. Then, with a flick of his wrist, he let it scatter—another identical clump of soil appeared and fell to the ground.[Template Applied: Atom Eve]
[Abilities: Energy Projection, Matter Manipulation, Super Defense…]With the Atom Eve template activated, Russell now possessed all her abilities—and seemingly without her mental instability. He could freely manipulate life forms as he pleased.
Though not limitless, Eve was still formidable. Even near death, when her restraints lifted, she could alter life itself—though still incapable of dealing fatal blows to Viltrumites.
For instance, when she was pushed to the brink by the elite Viltrumite Conquest, she had to completely burn herself out just to peel off one layer of his skin.
And while she later casually revived people on the verge of death, whether against Conquest or the final Regent, the heavy lifting ultimately fell to Mark's desperate struggle.
"Besides, this is still early-stage Eve."
What Russell truly valued was the broken nature of this template's core ability.
To manipulate and alter matter at a cellular and molecular level—it was almost identical to Dr. Manhattan from the DC universe, who was revered as a Quantum God.
"Even if the power levels are different—like how Captain America also has super strength, but his version of it is worlds apart from Superman's.
Cap might barely hold a helicopter in place, while Superman can shift tectonic plates or move planets with ease."
Compared to a being who toyed with the universe like Dr. Manhattan, Eve's power was even further behind than Cap's was from Superman's.
But that was enough. Any stronger, and Russell wouldn't be able to beat her.
"Vought Labs went all-out, but even then, it'll take them three to five months just to mass-produce the temporary and side-effect-ridden Compound V."
With Eve's matter manipulation, Russell could reduce that timeline to mere minutes.
Clenching his fist, the permafrost beneath shattered into dust, trickling through his fingers as a gleam flashed through his eyes.
If he could acquire Kid Homelander's laser eyes and unlock Homelander's full ability template...
With enhanced laser vision, immortality, and perhaps a bit of support from Mark—even without Mark—he'd still have a chance of stopping Uncle Almighty!
The sunset bathed the living room in a warm orange glow through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a golden hue over the laptop in front of Debbie Grayson.
She was meticulously reviewing this month's property sales report, her slender fingers tapping rhythmically on the keyboard.
Suddenly, her fingers froze mid-air.
A strange sensation of being watched shot up the back of her neck like electricity, sending chills down her spine. Slowly, Debbie turned her head, scanning the empty living room—sofa, coffee table, fireplace—everything seemed normal.
But when her gaze drifted toward the hallway shadows, her pupils shrank.
A figure in a trench coat stepped out of the darkness, the soft tap of leather shoes sounding on the hardwood floor.
"Forgive the intrusion, Mrs. Grayson."
The Demon Detective (Damien Darkblood) removed his vintage hat, revealing a crimson face. His voice was low and raspy, like sandpaper scraping wood.
"Your intuition is sharp."
Debbie shot to her feet, her chair scraping loudly against the floor.
"What are you doing in my house?!"
Her voice trembled slightly from shock.
Suddenly, a figure flickered into view at the top of the stairs—it was Russell, who had just returned from the Arctic.
Mark had asked his father, Omniman, to train him, and the two had gone somewhere private. That left only Russell and his aunt at home.
"You should know no one likes uninvited guests."
After wrestling with countless superheroes, Russell had just finished a shower and was preparing to head back to The Boys world when he heard unusual sounds downstairs.
From the stairway, his gaze sharpened like an arrow, aimed directly at the Demon Detective.
"The one who repelled multiple Flaxan invasions—Infinite. Earth's strongest young superhero. Your presence here is quite fitting."
It felt like a dragon from hell had fixed its eyes on him. The Demon Detective's chest tightened. He clutched his hat to his chest and gave a slight bow.
"Cecil recently asked me to look into something. Though two days ago, he messaged me again, suddenly saying the matter was dropped… I still found it fascinating.
I've uncovered something I believe the only two Earthlings in this house deserve to know."
He raised his head slightly, amber vertical pupils glowing with obsession in the dim light.
"—It's about the Global Guardians Massacre.
All signs at the scene point to one culprit… Omniman."
"Absurd!"
Debbie flinched at the mention of her husband's name. Her voice suddenly rose in fury.
"Nolan was critically wounded, unconscious in the hospital for days how could you accuse—"
Her voice abruptly stopped.
She suddenly recalled the strange behavior since Nolan's discharge: the growing coldness, his commanding attitude, his indifference toward the Global Guardians' deaths… and the many inconsistencies in his story about that day.
The Demon Detective's lips curled into a knowing smile.
"Seems… you've noticed something 'off' too…"
But before he could finish, Russell's expression darkened. With a whoosh, he flashed in front of the Demon Detective, grabbing his throat with a crushing grip.
"Detective, don't you know… sometimes curiosity is a very dangerous thing."
He had already instructed Cecil to warn this demon off the case and send him back to hell when the chance came.
Cecil had been searching for the hidden detective for days. Russell hadn't expected him to appear here.
"Infinite… why do you look completely unsurprised?"
Choking under the powerful grip, the Demon Detective stared wide-eyed at Russell's calm face. He realized—he had made a grave mistake.
But he couldn't figure out how.
"Was it Cecil who told you?
No… that doesn't make sense. Even if Cecil discovered something before I did, with his suspicious nature, how could he trust you, Omniman's nephew, so quickly and tell you everything?"
