Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: An Unexpected Encounter with a Fan

Why would these major companies resort to such tactics to make money? Robin couldn't quite understand, but she didn't dwell on it—it was just an annoying spam call, after all.

Less than a minute later, the spam call came again. Without hesitation, Robin hung up, just as she'd rejected Kuaishou's live streaming contract. She refused to be tied down by these entertainment companies.

Undeterred, the caller tried again a minute later, this time using a different number.

Robin smirked. This time, she answered. A female voice said, "Hello, is this Miss Robin? We sincerely invite you..."

"Excuse me, who's Robin? You must have the wrong number," Robin replied, pinching her nose and deliberately lowering her voice to make it sound distorted.

"Huh?" The caller was clearly bewildered. Robin could practically picture her double-checking each digit to confirm she hadn't misdialed.

Then, she hung up again.

After a normal live stream and an afternoon of studying, the next day dawned. Instead of lazing in bed, Robin woke up early, packed her things, and embarked on a spontaneous trip.

Though her knowledge of fashion was still basic, Robin's sense of style had definitely improved since she started learning. Standing before the mirror, the girl reflected back at her looked serene and charming. Only then did she nod in satisfaction and turn to leave.

She had even considered wearing a dress with white stockings, but ultimately abandoned the idea, deeming it too embarrassing.

"Whew—it's been ages since I got up this early and left the house," Robin murmured, savoring the crisp morning sunlight and air. Her mood lifted considerably as she inhaled deeply, humming a light tune as she walked toward the nearest subway station.

Unbeknownst to her, less than ten minutes after she left, a man in a black suit arrived at Robin's apartment complex. He headed straight for the fifteenth floor and knocked on her door.

Knock-knock-knock!

Knock-knock!

Naturally, no one answered. After waiting in vain, the man pressed his ear against the door, listening intently. Hearing no sound from within, his expression turned bewildered.

"No one's here?"

"Could the intel be wrong? Is this the wrong place?"

After buying her subway ticket, Robin found a seat and started scrolling through her phone. However, she couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her.

Putting her phone down, she glanced to her side and caught a glimpse of a young man suddenly ducking his head.

This body's senses and intuition were far sharper than her previous one. Perhaps it was simply because she had been an ordinary passerby before, invisible to most.

Watching the young man's futile attempt to avoid her gaze, Robin frowned slightly.

But the next moment, as if having steeled his resolve, he stood up and walked straight toward her. He stammered, "E-excuse me, are you Robin?"

"I'm a fan! Could I get your autograph?"

It was clear he was shy, and this bold move must have taken considerable courage.

Robin breathed a sigh of relief. She had initially worried he might be a stalker or something worse, but upon reflection, a stalker who was so easily spotted would hardly be professional.

"Since you're a fan, that makes perfect sense," Robin said. To be honest, this was probably the first time she'd encountered a "normal" fan—Yu Lin didn't count. Watching the young man's awkward fidgeting, she added, "Sure, but I should warn you, I'm not very good at autographs."

"Really? Thank you so much!" The boy's expression froze slightly as he patted his pockets, realizing he had neither pen nor paper. This was hardly surprising; who carried such things around these days? After a moment's hesitation, he pulled out his phone and offered it to Robin. "Um... would it be okay if you signed it here?"

Robin took the phone, suppressing a laugh. He had even switched it to a handwriting input method. What kind of cyberpunk autograph is this?

Still, she carefully wrote her current alias, "Robin," one stroke at a time with her index finger, and handed the phone back.

The boy immediately took a screenshot and thanked her profusely. "Thank you so, so much!"

It was clear he was just an ordinary person, perhaps experiencing his first intense admiration for a streamer, his first foray into "stanning," and his first meeting with the real-life person behind his favorite persona. His nervous excitement was almost palpable.

It wasn't until he was leaving that the guy suddenly realized, "Damn it! I should have asked for a photo instead of an autograph!"

Robin seemed so approachable. I bet she would have agreed, he thought.

But there was no way he could turn back now and strike up another conversation. As soon as he returned to his seat, his first impulse was to brag in the group chat.

Shu Cat: "Guys, I just met Robin in person! She's even cuter than in her live streams!"

Shu Cat: "And I got her autograph!"

Yes, this was the same "Shu Cat" Robin had added to the group chat yesterday—the loudmouth online who boasted endlessly about how no one knew Robin better than him, but in reality was just an incredibly shy, ordinary guy.

Invincible Bro: "?"

Free Eagle: "?"

Peace Dove: "?"

Invincible Bro: "What the hell are you talking about? Stop dreaming and go wash your face to wake up! An autograph? If that counts as an autograph, I've got a whole collection here: bold, Song, Li, Kai—take your pick!"
