Just as Riku was about to click "Confirm," he paused for a moment and instead clicked "Cancel."
He switched to Psychic-type.
Z-Crystal.
It was a small piece of metal, only about the size of a thumb.
If someone didn't know better, they might've thought it was a piece of chocolate. Back in the countryside, Riku had eaten plenty of chocolates like that during festivals.
Thinking of this, Riku even gave it a squeeze.
Surprisingly, it could actually be compressed—just like gold.
It looked like it would be easy to bite.
The Psychic-type Z-Crystal was worth 200,000 points.
It sounded like a lot, but in truth, it was the cheapest special metal.
Each type had three special metals: X, Y, and Z.
The Z-Crystal cost 200,000 points.
The Y-Crystal cost 2 million.
The X-Crystal—Riku counted the price, then counted again. It actually cost 20 million points.
Eating something like that would probably send someone straight to heaven!
When Riku first picked up the Psychic-type Z-Crystal, none of the Pokémon around reacted.
But soon, Metagross's eyes widened like lanterns.
Even the legendary Pokémon were visibly startled.
The laws contained within the berries had already made the legendary Pokémon regard them as rare treasures of the Pokémon world.
But now—
The metal in Riku's hand contained laws so profound that even they would covet it.
If not for the fact that Riku, their master, held the Psychic-type Z-Crystal, the legendary Pokémon would've definitely fought to the death to seize it.
Even though it was a Psychic-type Z-Crystal, and didn't match the main types of the legendary Pokémon present, just consuming it would allow even the three silly birds to use Psychic-type moves in the future.
"Mas… Master, where did you get this metal?"
The three legendary birds and Groudon quickly asked.
They had already made up their minds—if Riku revealed its location, they'd dig three feet into the ground to find more of this special metal.
"You guys want it too?" Riku asked, shaking his head.
"I advise you not to think too much. I only have one, and there probably won't be another one in this world."
Riku's words stunned the legendary Pokémon.
They exchanged glances, sighed, and sat down dejectedly.
From the moment they first laid eyes on Riku, they had known—this human was no ordinary person.
So if Riku said there was no other, it was most likely true.
"Metagross," Riku called, his expression serious as he looked at the Steel/Psychic-type Pokémon.
"This is the Psychic-type Z-Crystal I finally managed to obtain. There's only one in this world."
"I'm giving it to you."
"You have to perform well for me. Understand?"
"Chirp…" Metagross nodded quickly, almost wanting to pound its chest like Groudon.
"Eat it," Riku said, though with some visible heartache and reluctance.
He still handed the Z-Crystal to Metagross's mouth.
"Chirp chirp chirp…" Metagross let out a few grateful chirps, then swallowed the Z-Crystal in one gulp.
Moments later, Metagross began to react—its entire body shone with a radiant silver light.
Ding—
Host's Pokémon, Shiny Metagross, has successfully consumed the Psychic-type Z-Crystal.
Ding—
Shiny Metagross has learned Telekinesis.
Shiny Metagross has learned Psychic.
Shiny Metagross has learned Zen Headbutt.
Shiny Metagross has learned Psyshock.
Shiny Metagross has learned Psychic.
Shiny Metagross has learned Calm Mind.
Shiny Metagross has learned Light Screen.
Ding—
Shiny Metagross's Psychic potential increased by 200%.
Shiny Metagross's mental strength increased by 200%.
——
In just moments after consuming the Psychic-type Z-Crystal, Metagross had learned six powerful Psychic-type moves.
Not only that, but both its Psychic potential and mental strength increased by 200% instantly.
"Chirp…" Metagross stared in disbelief at its own front legs.
Years ago, when it was still a Beldum, Metagross had planned to train both its Psychic and Steel attributes—just like others of its kind.
But after meeting Groudon and buying into Groudon's talk about strength and defense, it had completely focused on the Steel-type path, abandoning Psychic altogether.
It hadn't been a bad path—its strength had steadily increased, and it had become a rare pseudo-legendary.
But now—
This one Psychic-type Z-Crystal Riku had given it completely overturned Metagross's belief.
It was born a Psychic/Steel-type Pokémon, and today, it had finally returned to its true self.
"Red Shrimp, your underling's going to be terrifying in the future," said the three legendary birds, filled with envy and jealousy.
"Its potential might explode."
"Master's special metal is amazing. If I could get a special metal for my own type, I might even have a shot at becoming a first-tier legendary Pokémon."
"Different Pokémon, different fates. We've trained hard for years, built up solid foundations, yet with just one metal, Red Shrimp's underling is catching up to us."
"So, Red Shrimp, how do you feel now?"
Faced with the slightly mocking tone of the three legendary birds, Groudon's heart was bleeding. Still, it waved a paw in a dignified manner.
"Hmph! I'm already a tier 1 legendary Pokémon—the Lord of the Land! I stand at the very peak of the Pokémon world! Why would I envy my underling?"
"Besides," Groudon added, "the stronger my underling is, the better I'll look when I bring it along to fight Stinky Fish's underling!"
"Haha, alright, alright, you're always right," the three legendary birds said with a chuckle.
"But if Master gets a Flying-type special metal in the future, I hope you'll be just as generous and let your underling have it."
"Bullshit!" Groudon shouted, instantly anxious—and then excited.
"Right, right! How could I have forgotten that?"
"If Master ever gets that kind of Flying-type special metal, why would I still eat those damned berries!"
Saying that, Groudon rushed up to Riku and acted like a little girl.
"Master…"
