The next day, midday, Shisui sat in Fugaku's house, in a room with the father and son duo. "So, is this your final decision?" Fugaku asked, his expression stern and serious. "Yes, father," Itachi replied, sitting face to face with Fugaku, while Shisui sat on the side. "I don't want to be a part of the Konoha Military Police Force," Itachi responded with a determined look. "My decision of staying in Anbu is final." Shisui sat, keenly looking at them with an interested look and sipping tea. It had been a month since Itachi had made his excuse of thinking about leaving Anbu after Kakashi and Shisui did so.
But Shisui, as well as even Fugaku, had guessed that Itachi was just buying time to prepare himself to refuse. Although Fugaku had tried to persuade Itachi a few times himself, Itachi finally spoke and refused to leave Anbu. "Hahaha, didn't I tell you, Uncle, he wouldn't agree?" Shisui laughed lightly, continuing to sip his tea. "At least Itachi has made his decision, but what about you?" Fugaku asked, looking at Shisui warily. "You didn't even choose to join the Konoha Military Police Force, nor even become an official working Jonin of Konoha. When do you make a decision yourself?"
Shisui coughed lightly, putting his cup down on the table, and said, "I really need some time to think, and I am a proper Jonin of Konoha, what do you mean by that!" Fugaku shook his head. "Well, you are Jonin, so your rank would obviously be Jonin after leaving Anbu, but you from that time aren't working Jonin. Even Kakashi has started to do missions as a working Jonin for the village, but you," Fugaku continued to shake his head at Shisui. Shisui chuckled embarrassedly at that; he indeed didn't choose to join the police force department, nor had he done any missions for the last month.
But the big reason was, his mind was busy with other matters. First was learning Jutsu from the Scroll of Seals, especially Edo Tensei. Moreover, after he had used Kotoamatsukami on Obito and made him his personal subordinate, he ordered him to get purified Hashirama's cells ready for him, and his mind also wandered on that matter. Plus, he even started to train Sasuke; sometimes Itachi joined and sometimes Naruto with Kakashi. And even for today, he wasn't very free despite to others he had no specific task to do today.
He had decided to go to the Uzumaki Clan Temple, more like the Uzumaki Clan's Mask Storage Temple, to release Minato's soul and have him seal Yin Kurama inside him. He didn't care about what others would say when they found out that he also had a Bijuu sealed in him, suddenly, and that too, was Kurama, The Nine-Tails, who was only supposed to be in Naruto. Even on the night when Minato cut Nine-Tails in half and sealed half in Naruto and another half with him in Shikigami's stomach, this wasn't known to many either.
Maybe only Hiruzen and a few others knew; as for the remaining who knew about Kyuubi, they didn't even know full details about this. Moreover, he knew that Hiruzen and Jiraiya would be more shocked when they realized that Shisui had become the Jinchuriki of the other half of Kyuubi that was supposed to be in Shikigami's stomach with Minato's soul. Since both of them knew how dangerous the Dead Demon Consuming Seal was, and further added to it was that Jutsu was a permanent Jutsu. Once used, the soul of the user and the one on whom this Jutsu was used would be gone forever.
And this would obviously shocked them when they would saw Shisui breaking such a seal and taking the other Kyuubi out and becoming its Jinchuriki. Since the Chakra of a Bijuu is vast and despite being sealed, it would be impossible for Kage Level Shinobi like Hiruzen and Jiraiya to miss it, especially with Naruto; they would easily feel familiarity. But Shisui wasn't much worried; he currently was also very strong, but once he had Yin Kurama and used his Kotoamatsukami to become its perfect Jinchuriki, he would become even stronger.
Nagato wouldn't remain much of a threat, even if he were to face him head-on, since Kurama was even able to break free from his Chibaku Tensei in his eight-tails state. Though this didn't makes Chibaku Tensei weak and Half Kurama strong, this just shows Nagato's lack of strength and control over Rinnegan, as when Sasuke used his Rinnegan to cast Chibaku Tensei on all Tails Beasts, no one was able to break free, and not even full Kurama able to either. But against Nagato, who currently could be said the strongest ninja alive, even Half Kurama is enough to overpowered him, if Shisui able to successful in his plan tonight.
He even thought of persuasion if needed, but he immediately gave up on that idea upon remembering the grumpy attitude of Kurama. He wasn't Naruto with talk no Jutsu, nor did he have much patience to explain how there was Akatsuki that wanted to reawaken Juubi and they needed to be together to stop them and such. A simple solution—one Kotoamatsukami and he would be a force to be reckoned with. And matters of Kotoamatsukami would be sort out once he go through Hashirama's Cells transplantion with the help of Obito. For now, the matter is about Yin Kurama and Minato's soul in Shikigami's stomach.
But that was for tonight, and that too, if he was successful in implementing his idea, which had quite high chances thanks to plot knowledge he has, of how Orochimaru cracked the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. Currently, he was here to take Sasuke to train him. They usually trained early and sometimes in the evening. Fugaku also didn't push the matter of Shisui's, and they had some light talk. Then Sasuke came into the room, ready for training. "Would you like to join?" Shisui asked Itachi, who in response shook his head in denial. "No, I am busy today..." He replied, with slight nervousness on his face.
"Itachi nii-san is lying, I heard him last night, he has planned to spend his day with Izumi nee-san," Sasuke blurted out immediately, smirking mischievously. "Oh! Really?" Shisui exclaimed a little and grin at him, knowingly, "Then it seems he is quite busy today, alright, you don't need to come, we two will train together, you should finish your important work."
"Really, Itachi?" Fugaku also chimed in, surprised, and started to see his elder son in a new light. "I-it's not that," Itachi stuttered, and quickly rushed out, "I really have busy matters to take care of, and Sasuke, stop spouting nonsense!" Shisui chuckled and took Sasuke to the training ground of the Uchiha Clan Compound. To train Sasuke, Shisui took the approach which should be needed aside from basics, knowing Sasuke's innate talent and potential.
He had him, and even Naruto whenever they joined and trained together, practice leaf balancing, wall walking to improve their Chakra Control, and hard physical conditioning training, which for Naruto wasn't much of a problem, especially with his vast Chakra Reserves and being a Jinchuriki and Uzumaki, but Sasuke had a hard time in physical training, even complaining many times, but Shisui knew how important physical conditioning was, and he also did them. He was expecting to learn Eight Inner Gates later on and also, if possible, teach them to Naruto at least, if not Sasuke.
With Naruto's physique and his high potent Yang Chakra, Eight Inner Gates was more suitable to him, while for Sasuke, Genjutsu training was much better, but having physical training was also as important for him. While Shisui also taught Sasuke Taijutsu, Shurikenjutsu, Ninjutsu, and Genjutsu Techniques as well. While for Shurikenjutsu, he himself felt it was just flashy and mostly useless, unless it was jointed with Paper Bombs, but Sasuke was fixated on learning Uchiha's Shurikenjutsu as well and showing his progress to Itachi.
With the way Shisui thought of it, if given a year to Sasuke and Naruto with him, both would easily come out as equals to seasoned Chunin Level Shinobi without any doubt, and if one considered Naruto's status as a Jinchuriki, then him being a Jonin wasn't impossible in a year or two. While at first he taught both of them directly Tree Walking, which was very difficult for them and even Kakashi was against teaching them anything like that. But Shisui ignored his protest, but still took it into consideration, and told them to practice Leaf balancing and Wall walking which are much simpler and straightforward for Chakra Control.
Which for Naruto at first was difficult, but with Shisui personally visiting Yang Half Kurama in Naruto's mind space and calming him down with his Mangekyō Sharingan, he had it much easier to practice those exercises. While he knew that in the future, Naruto would be able to convince Kurama and become friends with him, but for now, let's put that Beast in Genjutsu and set his actions aside and let just focus on Naruto's general training.
"Let's start with basics, Sasuke, and then you will be practicing Genjutsu today," Shisui said softly, while lightly stretching. Sasuke nodded and they did some physical training first before making a Shadow Clone to supervise Sasuke's training in learning D-rank Genjutsu. E-rank were quite useless and were quickly learned by Sasuke, despite his normal talent being similar to that of normal Uchihas, not like Itachi and Shisui's himself. But his innate talent was what Shisui knew of, and he trained him diligently.
The best D-rank Genjutsu is "Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique!" which Sasuke was learning under Shisui. While Shisui himself made another Shadow Clone and was practicing Bringer of the Darkness Jutsu on the Clone. Although Shisui was able to learn it much easily, practice was still needed, and rather than asking anyone else and creating problems for him, it was better to practice it with a Shadow Clone of himself. After all, it is a very potent Genjutsu. The Bringer of Darkness Jutsu plunges the target into a world of total, pitch-black darkness.
Every visual input is replaced by this illusion, making it impossible for the target to see their surroundings, their opponent, or even their own hands. This level of sensory deprivation is incredibly disorienting and terrifying, inducing panic and making it nearly impossible for the victim to fight back or even move effectively. Without sight, a ninja loses a crucial sense for combat, making them susceptible to immediate and decisive attacks. Even highly skilled shinobi find it incredibly difficult to counter, often relying on other senses or sensory abilities to track their opponents.
That's why it is an A-rank forbidden Genjutsu, which Tobirama created specifically for using against Uchiha's Sharingan, and most of the reason Shisui wants to practice and perfect this Jutsu further. With a small hope that if it can be used against Sharingan, then using it with much power and Chakra, it might also be able to block even Rinnegan's vision. Though it was his wishful thinking, trying it out didn't cost him anything. Who knows, in future he might be able to gain success with this, but for now he can only practice it for further mastery in it.
While he knows that the Rinnegan offers more than just optical vision. It grants the user various sensory perceptions, including the ability to see chakra flow, perceive things in spiritual realms like Limbo clones, and potentially have a broader understanding of their surroundings beyond typical sight. Even if the visual input is completely cut off, a Rinnegan user might still be able to discern the presence of others through chakra sensing or other Six Paths abilities. Moreover having very high resistance to Genjutsu.
But in later future, he with his vast Chakra Reserves and Control, then infusing this genjutsu with Sage Mode chakra maybe could make it significantly harder to break even for Rinnegan. Nature energy flows through the natural world, and a genjutsu imbued with it might be able to bypass or overwhelm the Rinnegan user's chakra disruption attempts. This is because Sage Mode chakra interacts with the world in a way regular chakra doesn't, making the illusion feel more "real" and harder to dispel.
Later, the day for Shisui was pretty much the same as before, nothing unusual, with even Obito come and reporting that currently nothing worthwhile was going on in Akatsuki's plan, and progress for Shisui's transplantation plan is going well, and that operation would soon be available, as Orochimaru was delightfully working after Nagato ordered him to, plus Orochimaru himself was quite invested in such thing.
Later on the night, as Shisui planned, he moved silently in the nights of Konoha, towards the outskirts of the Village Forest, where the Uzumaki Clan's Mask Storage Temple is located. Though the exact location wasn't known to him, even as an Anbu, that location was simply secluded, but more than that wasn't much recognized worthwhile by others before. He wasn't alone; his Shadow Clone behind him was carrying an unconscious man on its shoulder.
Shisui recalled that Orochimaru had worn that Shinigami mask himself in the anime and then cut the stomach of Shinigami, which also reflected on him as well, but Orochimaru survived because of his Life Corpse Reincarnation Jutsu, which Shisui couldn't use and never wanted to use as well. So he needed some other person to act as a medium, who would be sacrificed, and Shisui just picked out a random prisoner of Konoha, whose disappearance also wouldn't affect anyone, even if find out about his disappearance.
Even with Shisui using Body Flicker Technique, swiftly moving from location to location, it still took him more than an hour to find the Temple. "Finally!" Shisui muttered, slightly tired, standing outside the broken temple. At the entrance of the temple is a giant replica of the Uzumaki clan's symbol. "Let's move in.." Shisui said, and his Shadow Clone followed behind with the sacrifice he picked up. He walked and entered the center of the Temple. Within the temple at the center is a podium of sorts where several Oni-masks hung beneath three connected symbols of the clan, under all of which are ornate, black flames.
"The shrine has since fallen into ruin from the wear and tear of time, though the masks all stayed intact, not quite surprising I suppose," He muttered under his breath, before walking forward and scanning each mask. "Which was the so-called Dead God mask that invokes Shinigami?" He scanned with slight difficulty, because few masks looked quite identical to each other.
"I recall that that mask resembles the Hannya mask used in Japanese Noh theatre," Shisui deliberated. "Hm, maybe this is the one or maybe this..." Shisui was focused on it because he didn't want to choose any other mask, as who knows what would come out if he put any other mask on his sacrifice, as he also only took one person for sacrifice as well. He started picking each mask and started throwing them aside after carefully scanning each one. After throwing 15 of those 26 masks, he found the one he was looking for.
That Mask is a stylized, humanoid mask with a somewhat sinister and grim expression. Predominantly off-white, pale grey, giving it a bone-like and ghostly appearance. With two prominent, curved, yellowish-brown horns that protrude from the upper sides of the head, resembling a demon or Oni mask. Its eye sockets are dark, sunken, and somewhat hollow, giving it a dead and unseeing gaze. A flattened, slightly upturned nose.
The most striking and scaring feature is its wide, gaping mouth filled with numerous sharp, pointed, yellowish fangs. The teeth are irregular in size and shape, emphasizing its predatory nature. A few subtle lines and creases are present around the eyes and mouth, giving a permanent, grimacing expression. With a distinctive element is the dark green, segmented snake that appears to be wrapped around or emerging from the mask, around the base of the horns and the sides of the face, further enhancing its ominous appearance.
A small loop is visible at the very top of the mask, likely for hanging it. "This one is it..." Shisui nodded delightedly, happy to find it. "Wake him up," He said to his Clone to wake that person up who would soon be used as sacrifice, also throwing mask at him. "W-what i-is t-this place...?!" That person stuttered, fear palpable in his eyes and face, upon finding himself in such a scary and unknown place. "Genjutsu: Sharingan!" Shisui's Shadow Clone didn't waste time and put him under Genjutsu.
Meanwhile, Shisui himself summoned his crow and brought back the linchpin Danzo here, who had many bruises all around his face and remaining body, looking barely alive. "Oooh! You all really tortured him a lot, I think..." Shisui said to his Crows, with a hint of joy in his voice; after all, it was fucking Danzo, he deserved it. "Aaaaarrrgggghhh... Yo—" Danzo tried to say something, but Shisui quickly knocked him out. He didn't want to waste his time on him, and Danzo didn't even need to be awake for being used as a sacrifice for Edo Tensei.
"Alright, then I will use Edo Tensei on Danzo," Shisui elaborated, while passing his sword to his clone, "And you will cut Shinigami's Stomach once it appears, alright? We need to do it quickly..." Shisui thinks if he wasted much time, maybe Minato's soul would directly go to the Pure Land, and there would be chances that if he later summoned him with Edo Tensei, Yin Kurama wouldn't be with him. Maybe he was wrong, but he didn't want to take any risk. His Shadow Clone nodded and ready to put the Shinigami mask on that criminal he picked, who stood there with blank expressions.
This would allow that person, the wearer, to summon and control the Shinigami by allowing it to possess the user. This enables the user to perform "Dead Demon Consuming Seal: Release." Shisui's Shadow Clone, with his right hand ready to put the mask on that person, while his left hand holding the sword, coating it with crackling lightning chakra, ready to strike. On the next side, Shisui himself was ready, putting Minato's cells he collected from his corpse before coming here into Danzo, also ready to do his part. "NOW!" With his shout, his Shadow Clone put the mask on his sacrifice's face.
