Chapter 17 - Uzumaki Clan's Temple (2)

The primary effect of wearing the Shinigami mask is that the Shinigami possesses the wearer. The wearer's body becomes a vessel for the Death God. Shisui had even put the supposed wearer in his own Genjutsu. Once the Shinigami mask was placed on the prisoner's face by Shisui's Shadow Clone, a demonic and terrifying figure appeared as a large, spectral being with a truly unsettling and malevolent presence. Its fierce and evil gaze mirrored the appearance of the mask itself. Its hair was long, white, and flowed wildly, which usually used to restrain the soul of the summoner.

Its left arm was wrapped with prayer beads, which it used during the sealing process. It had sharp, elongated fangs and carried a small, curved dagger in its mouth. Its skin was a pale purple and grayish hue. It possessed two prominent horns on its head, adding to its demonic aesthetic. This was the Shinigami, also called the ''Death God''. Shisui's Shadow Clone quickly brought his sword, crackling with lightning chakra, to the mask wearer, who, under the effect of Genjutsu, swiftly sliced open his own stomach.

While possessed, any physical changes or actions inflicted upon the Shinigami by the wearer would be reflected onto the wearer's own body. This was crucial for the release of sealed souls. Due to that possession, the Shinigami simultaneously cut open its own stomach, which then allowed the sealed soul of Minato to escape. Meanwhile, Shisui himself swiftly made hand signs and slammed them on the ground, shouting, "Edo Tensei!"

The act of slicing open one's own stomach resulted in the immediate death of the wearer, and the same happened to the person used for this purpose by Shisui; he died immediately, which also resulted in the Shinigami retreating. With the sealed souls released, the immediate task of the Shinigami, as invoked through the mask, was complete. It retreated from the physical world. On Shisui's side, once the hand seals were complete, a complex, intricate sealing formula with patterns of kanji and lines rapidly spread across the ground.

This formula appeared as a circular pattern with various symbols within it. Shisui then slowly took a step back, looking at the dispersing figure of the Shinigami. Despite the mask still being on that sacrifice, it was just a corpse now, so the Shinigami had no business with anything that had no soul. One meter away from him was the center of the sealing formula. From that center, a large, dark, coffin-like structure with specific markings on it dramatically rose from the ground. This "wooden coffin" was the initial container for the reanimated body.

Meanwhile, within the coffin, a swirling mass of dust and ash began to coalesce. This substance was the materialization of the deceased's, meaning Minato's, physical form, reconstructed based on his DNA sample used by Shisui. The dust and ash slowly but steadily formed the shape of the targeted individual, Minato Namikaze. Danzo's body was absorbed into this process, becoming the foundation for the new form, completely eradicating Danzo's unique chakra signature. The soul of Minato was then bound to the newly formed, yet still somewhat inert, body within the coffin.

This was the step where the personality and memories of the deceased were re-inserted into the created vessel, this was the reason why Shisui wanted to use Danzo as a sacrifice for Edo Tensei. With this, Danzo's body lost its unique chakra signatures, rewritten by the soul of Minato, making Danzo completely unable to revive ever again with Edo Tensei as well, though there was also the fact that no one was actually going to wish to revive him with Edo Tensei anyway. This whole process within the coffin took only a few seconds.

Once the reanimation was complete, the lid of the wooden coffin groaned, then slowly receded into the ground. The figure of Minato Namikaze stood, his golden hair stark against the dim moonlight inside the temple. His skin bore the tell-tale grayish hue and faint cracks as an Edo Tensei, his sclerae a muted grey, yet his eyes held a flicker of his original sharpness. He remained silent for a moment, perhaps processing the jarring transition from death to this unnatural life, especially because he himself felt that now, after using Dead Demon Consuming Seal, even his soul was a lost cause.

On the side of Shisui, his eyes widened slightly after seeing his plan really worked. He could hardly believe how he had managed to do it. Excitement bubbled inside him, as Shisui could sense the raw, vast, unfiltered chakra inside Minato. Within him, the dormant Yin Kurama stirred, its chakra already accessible, calm but still feels like it's waiting to be unleashed.

"Hahahaha, it really worked, man, I am really awesome...!" Shisui said excitedly, clapping for himself. His Shadow Clone beside him had the same expressions, expressions of joy and utmost excitement. But the next moment, Shisui dispersed his clone and walked towards Minato, who was still silent, and upon seeing Shisui, his eyes narrowed slightly at him, scrutinizing him.

Since Shisui had only used Edo Tensei to summon Minato, anything related to controlling and seals for that, Shisui didn't bother with them, as he felt he could persuade Minato; there was no need to force him to give Yin Kurama to him. But another reason was also that Shisui was little weak in Fuinjutsu, more like he never gave it a try, so here he couldn't make any other seal formula like Tobirama and Orochimaru to control Edo Tensei summons.

"Ahaa, You're Shisui, I remember you," Minato blurted, with a laugh, "But what's going on? How am I here, and is... Is this place the shrine of the Uzumaki Clan, which was supposed to be a secluded area around village outskirts?"

"Yes, Yondaime-sama, it indeed is," Shisui replied, respectfully bowing in greeting, "And I am the one who used Edo Tensei to summon you here from the stomach of Shinigami." Minato, shocked, his expressions somewhat like panic. "W-what, I know Edo Tensei Jutsu, i-it needs a sacrifice, d-did you just kill an inno—"

"It was Danzo!" Shisui interrupted him, and said nonchalantly. "Oh, It's alright then," Minato sighed in relief but his expressions were still somewhat serious and he asked, "But how did you manage to break the Dead Demon Consuming Seal, and most importantly, why?"

"Well, I won't talk in circles. Firstly, about cracking seal, one of the genius scientists or researcher you can say, was able to break this seal originally, and I just copied his method and apply here," Shisui spoke. "Secondly, I actually want to be the Jinchuriki of the other half of Kyuubi, which you took with you after cutting it in half and sealing one in your son, Naruto." Minato was about to ask who the great scientist he was talking about, but stopped when he heard Shisui's second response.

"Huh?! Did Naruto being a Jinchuriki become such a common thing?" Minato was surprised and asked, "Didn't Sandaime make such a thing a secret for Naruto's safety? I know he wouldn't make it public that Naruto is the Jinchuriki of Kyuubi, right?" Shisui narrowed his eyes, his face curved in a smirk, which made Minato a little uneasy.

"To answer your questions, let me ask you first," Shisui posed a question to Minato, "When I said Danzo was used as sacrifice for Edo Tensei, you were quite calm, didn't you feel something strange about it?"

Minato's eyes widened. He had really ignored it, because he himself knew that Danzo wasn't an innocent and definately not a good person, and Minato was worried that maybe some innocent was used as sacrifice, but hearing it was Danzo, he sighed in relief and completely ignored the matter. "This..." Minato opened his mouth to say something but he couldn't, and thought inwardly, 'Yeah, no matter the case, Sandaime considered Danzo as his close friend, how could this be possible that Danzo was used as a sacrifice for Edo Tensei and Sandaime didn't do anything about it?'

"Don't tell me, Sandaime-sama is also dead," Minato made his own assumption. "Does that also relate to why Naruto's Jinchuriki status is known by you, since I remember that higher-ups were always somewhat wary of your Clan!" Shisui looked at him, thinking if he should tell everything to Minato, for his better understanding. 'Well, my main purpose is Yin Kurama, as long as Minato gives me that, it doesn't matter if I tell him everything actually.' He shrugged and started telling him everything that was going on recently, and about Naruto's life till now.

He started from the incident of Kyuubi seven years ago, where Minato died, to current circumstances, but only main and important circumstances, not everything. While listening to Shisui, Minato's expressions at first turned to sadness, which slowly turned to anger, and at last to relief.

"Haa, I never thought this much could happen because of those elders' corruption," Minato said. "But I am thankful that Naruto is getting better treatment now, and Kakashi is with him, I am happy for him."

Shisui didn't interrupt when Minato was processing this information and stating his views on it. "But Jiraiya sensei really is going to be Godaime?" Minato asked, his face showing an excited and unbelievable smile, which showed that he himself couldn't believe that Jiraiya would ever agree to become Hokage. "Not exactly," Shisui shook his head. "Uncle Fugaku told me that Jiraiya-sama, for now, is only a temporary Hokage for a year, unless another better candidate comes within a year, Jiraiya-sama will become permanent Hokage then..."

"Hahahaha," Minato laughed heartily. "I really would like to see Sensei as Hokage, he always runs away from that position!" After laughing for a few minutes, Minato said, "Alright, so you want to be Jinchuriki of the Yin half of Kurama, then so be it, but you have to befriend him if you want to become a Perfect Jinchuriki; it will be hard for you, since he dislikes the Uchiha Clan most, so i suggests you to talk with him first."

Shisui nodded, then suddenly he realized something, 'Yin Half of Kurama? Did he say Kyuubi's real name, Kurama?' Shisui's eyes widened with shock, and he asked, "H-how, no, I mean wh—" This time Minato interrupted him and said, "I know, you find it difficult that I agree just like that, but don't worry, from the Uchiha clan, I mostly know about and close to are Wicked Eye Fugaku and you, Shisui of the Body Flicker. Even Fugaku's wife was good friends with Kushina, my wife. I know that both you and Fugaku would never do anything that would directly harm the village."

Shisui was still in a daze; moreover, this wasn't even his question. "Oh, and I understood that the current matters you told me about, that's really the Village's management's mistake, especially Danzo," Minato said with a smile. "So I would be more than happy if someone like you became Jinchuriki for the Village and protected Konoha with Naruto, sharing this burden." Shisui shook his head and said, "That's not what I was about to ask..." Minato was surprised a little and asked, "Oh, sorry to interrupt you there, so what do you want to ask?"

"You said Kurama, is that Kyuubi's real name, how do you know it?" Shisui took a deep breath and asked, while his mind was also thinking of speculations, 'I recalled that when Minato was reanimated during the 4th Shinobi War, he indeed seemed like he was in harmony with Kurama, is this the same case here for same reason?'

"Hm, Yeah, Kurama is Kyuubi's real name," Minato said, chuckling. "Oh, it just shouted at me, saying why I told someone, especially an Uchiha, his real name, hahaha!" Shisui nodded, his expressions still dazed and shocked.

"Well, from the time my soul with the other half of Kyuubi was sealed in Shinigami's stomach," Minato described, "We were alone to ourselves to talk with. Kurama cursed me a lot at first, me also doing the same, but with time and our conversation, I understood that all Bijuus aren't monsters that we know of, they were actually forced by us humans to be war weapons, oh and they all are actually siblings!"

Shisui nodded, finally understanding the reason, that Minato's understanding that the Bijuu were not inherently evil, but rather victims of human conflict after staying with Yin Kurama for seven years, while all the other things that Minato said like he was telling him a top secret was already known to him. "So, would you like to talk with him?" Minato asked and said, "Though if I could, I would like to have this half merge with the other in Naruto now, but let's scrap it, you are also a good choice I think!"

Shisui paused, thinks before replying, "I would like to talk with him, as I actually want to be a Perfect Jinchuriki," Shisui said. "Having it sealed completely within wouldn't make me a Perfect Jinchuriki, which needs harmony of both the Bijuu and its host." Then Shisui thought, 'Looks like I should at least give it a try to persuade Kurama; if it agrees then well and good, otherwise I still have one use of Kotoamatsukami left for now.'

Minato in front of him spoke, "Hm, hm, that would be good, well currently in this form, he isn't sealed inside me like any Jinchuriki but still in my mindspace, if you want to talk with him, then you can put some of your chakra over my mind to enter my mindspace." Shisui nodded and did as he said, touching Minato's head, transferring a little of his chakra and entering the mind space of Minato where resided a more than 50 meters tall orange-brown fox, the Nine-Tails, Kurama. The mind space in which Shisui entered was a dominant visual of an expansive, clear sky with a soft, warm glow.

It was simply a vast, open area where anyone can move freely and unleash their power without constraint; this is a great place, especially for someone like Kurama. "TCH, DAMN UCHIHA!!!" Kurama immediately roared when they entered the mind space together, momentarily scaring both of them. While Minato easily waved it off, Shisui gulped. The humongous figure of the Nine-Tails, upon personally seeing for the first time in real, indeed looked quite menacing, which from anime didn't give this feel after at starting.

"Haha, calm down, Kurama," Minato said, chuckling wearily. "He isn't like that Madara Uchiha you cursed usually; Shisui is a good Uchiha..." Kurama scoffed, "Ha, Good Uchiha is Dead Uchiha, living Uchiha can't be called good." Minato's face palmed at Kurama's response. Despite him now understanding the hate Kurama had for Uchihas, specifically Madara, and also for Shodaime, Hashirama, but mostly for Madara Uchiha, he still couldn't believe that Kurama directly shouted with rage at Shisui when he just saw him.

Shisui calmed himself down, collected his thoughts, understanding that Kurama was only taking his anger and frustration out on him and wasn't making himself ready to attack him, since Kurama was still lying in the open vast area. His body was coiled in on itself, forming a colossal, orange-red spiral. Kurama's all nine tails, wildly flailing, had been carefully tucked around his body, forming a soft, bushy "nest" like a protective barrier around him. They were not stiff but appeared to have a natural drape.

"Listen to me fir—" Shisui started to speak but Kurama interrupted him immediately. "I heard your conversation, and I have no interest even if you are really, by a million to one chance, a good alive Uchiha," Kurama sarcastically spoke, with a snort, "Hmph, you are still an Uchiha. I wouldn't even like to have you as my simple Host, let alone Perfect Jinchuriki, ha, now go away, it's the first time in years that I am in open air." Minato was about to say something in Shisui's defense to Kurama, but Shisui stopped him and said, "I will talk with him, Yondaime-sama, you don't need to bother."

"You are here, outside, because of the same me, you know," Shisui said, folding his arms. "You really don't want me to be your host?" Kurama shook his head, his eyes closed, like ready to sleep. "Even if I say there is a major problem to be occurs in future?" Kurama still shook his head, not responding. "Even when I say that problem is going to be the Juubi...?"

This time Shisui asked with a smirk on his face. Kurama once again was about to shake his head, but stop and suddenly stood up and spoke, "Did you say, J-Juubi? How do you even know about it?" He asked, little stammering. Even Minato was shocked, his now black eyes were widened, seeing the mighty and proud Kurama had a look of fear in his voice. He questioned in his mind, 'Who is Juubi?'
