Chapter 29 - Pack Betrayal

The rogue camp was shrouded in the mist of predawn, the type that snaked into your skin and made you feel every shadow was alive. I knelt at the periphery of Silverclaw territory, my heart racing like a war drum, the air stinging cold on my breath. The forest was quite save for the occasional rustling of leaves, but everything inside me was telling me that danger was near. The crescent mark on my wrist beat with a dull silver light beneath my sleeve, connecting me with Kael Draven, even though I hunted by myself. The revelation of last night—Gavyn Holt engineering Kael, framing him for treason—had lit a fire in me and I didn't want to wait for camp to rouse. I wanted evidence, something to show that snake before he buried his fangs in my pack any further.
