116. Chapter 116: There is Only One Hero, and That's Me!
"Don't you have a movie premiere to attend?" Stan Edgar raised his arm, looking at the time on his wristwatch.
Homelander remained silent, forcefully suppressing the anger in his heart. He then turned and left, flying to the Villa where Becca lived, seeking solace from his son.
Before knocking, Homelander dialed an unknown number. "Operation start."
He said only one sentence, then crushed the phone in his hand. "Stan Edgar, I'll let you know that I'm irreplaceable. There is only one Hero in the United States, and that's me!"
The scene shifts to Hughie. The next day, he woke up as usual.
As he was wandering around the Basement as usual, suddenly, a guy covered in bloodstains was helped into the Basement by his accomplice. Mother's Milk immediately came out of the Room to check the guy's injury.
He saw that when he unwrapped the towel tied around the guy's arm, underneath was a horrific arm. It looked like it had been soaked in sulfuric acid, with muscle fiber and yellowed bone completely exposed to the air.
Hughie couldn't help but look away. In an instant, he felt his stomach churning.
"His arm bones are completely broken, and even half of his ribs are broken. There's nothing I can do about this. Take him to the Hospital."
Mother's Milk said in a hurried tone. To be honest, the fact that this guy had lasted this long could only be attributed to his strong will and God's blessing; there was no more suitable reason.
They were crew members from Frenchie's smuggling ship. Seeing his own crew member's injury was so severe, Frenchie knew something had happened to his ship. "Take him to the Hospital, now! Immediately!"
After sending the injured man away, Frenchie looked out the window restlessly. It was early morning now, and if they went out, the probability of exposure was very high.
"Frenchie, what exactly happened?" Mother's Milk asked after cleaning up the bloodstains on the table.
Since Frenchie's crew members were all from minority ethnic groups, the others couldn't understand their conversation at all.
"Something happened to my ship."
Frenchie clutched his head in pain. To get this Basement, he had been forced to make a deal with the Underworld, lending them his ship. He didn't expect something to happen so quickly. "Those bastards, really damn them!"
It wasn't until late at night that the few of them quietly left the Basement and rushed towards the Dock.
When they arrived at the scene, they found that Frenchie's ship had actually capsized.
"Monitoring Room, I remember there's surveillance here." Frenchie hurried towards the Monitoring Room.
Kimiko, standing nearby, seemed to sense something and looked up at the ship in front of her.
"Was your ship discovered by the Police?" Mother's Milk asked, standing in front of the surveillance camera.
"No, this is a private entrance used for smuggling. Only a few people know its location." Frenchie answered Mother's Milk's question while pulling up last night's surveillance footage.
Soon, they saw from the surveillance footage that after the ship docked, several crew members herded a group of poorly dressed Refugees off the ship.
"Oh shit, my god, Frenchie, you actually dared to engage in human trafficking, that's unbelievable."
Hughie said in shock.
Frenchie's tone became increasingly agitated: "Those damn guys didn't tell me at all that they were borrowing my ship for human trafficking business."
"And you didn't ask?" Mother's Milk's words directly plunged Frenchie into silence. Afterwards, they saw in the surveillance video that a crew member got into a dispute with a man. Then, they actually saw the large ship slowly rise into the air under the man's telekinesis, and with a wave of the man's arms, the large ship was actually thrown directly towards the smugglers.
"Holy crap..." Hughie and the others were instantly stunned speechless.
Finally, that mysterious man walked out of the range of the surveillance and disappeared into the darkness.
......
The few of them returned to the Basement. Kimiko seemed to have thought of something, but she still couldn't speak. She could only use all she knew to write the word 'boy' on paper. When she handed the paper to Frenchie, Frenchie didn't understand what it meant.
"What should we do?" Hughie asked Mother's Milk.
"What should we do? I have a good suggestion. You can make an anonymous call to the Mayor, ask him for help, and have him send the Army to deal with that Superpowered Criminal. The premise is, when they find you, how will you explain your current identity? A little boy framed and wronged by Vought?"
Mother's Milk wondered where Hughie got so much saintly heart; maybe he got it wholesale from Jesus.
He couldn't even protect himself right now, yet he still had the mood to care about others. Thinking of this, Mother's Milk couldn't help but start to miss the Hughie who had been injected with Compound V and was ruthless and spoke little.
"Then let's find Starlight, she can definitely help us." Hughie still didn't want to give up.
"Go ahead, go ahead. I guarantee her phone is being monitored by Vought. The moment you make the call, Homelander will rush over our heads and cut us into pieces with a beam of heat vision!"
Mother's Milk was enraged by Hughie at this moment, so he roared loudly.
"That guy might kill a lot of people..."
"Hughie, let someone else handle it, okay? Or you can find that Mr. Mystery and give yourself another injection, then you can transform into a Superhero and save the United States." Mother's Milk spread his hands and said to Hughie.
"You need to know, you're neither a soldier nor a Superhero. You're just a salesman who sells broken appliances..." Mother's Milk advised.
Unexpectedly, Hughie directly retorted: "No, I'm not. To resist Vought, I lost my job, I lost my life. Although I might not be able to become a soldier like you, I can become Harry Potter, or John Connor...
The point is, I can become that person who wasn't initially favored but ultimately turned out to be super powerful, just like when I was injected with Compound V. I can save you guys, I can do things I couldn't do before."
His remarks caused the people present to fall into contemplation.
On the other side.
Just as Mother's Milk had predicted, Xia Shang was standing behind a staff member of the Vought Regulatory Department, checking the call records of the Superheroes.
"Operation start?" Looking at the words on the screen, Xia Shang frowned. What kind of operation could Homelander have? The only thing related to him was that group of overseas super terrorists.
Could it be that Homelander, in order to demonstrate his importance, ordered people to smuggle super terrorists from overseas into the United States?
It had to be said, this indeed seemed like something Homelander would do.
It seemed that the conversation between Homelander and Stan Edgar yesterday must have been very unpleasant, otherwise Homelander wouldn't be so eager to prove himself. To be honest, although Homelander was incredibly powerful, his temperament wasn't much more mature than his son's.
