Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Lapras's Determination

"Weepinbell's typical habit is to paralyze prey with Poison Powder, then melt them with Acid for consumption. Some Weepinbell also use sharp Razor Leaf to cut prey into small pieces before swallowing them in stages."

"Hmm, from this, we can determine Weepinbell's training direction."

"Special Attack-focused Acid, or Physical Attack-focused Razor Leaf..."

Ace mused while glancing at Bellsprout's stat panel.

Both its offensive stats were 60, but Bellsprout's nature was Modest, and combined with its fragile physique and slow movement speed, making it a close-range fighter would indeed be a challenge.

"So, Bellsprout's role should be a stationary cannon, relying on long-range attacks to wear down opponents. As for a fast attacker, that's still up to Zubat."

Ace summarized, then stood up and wiped the sweat from his face with a towel.

After wiping his sweat, Ace changed his posture, lying on the ground and starting to do sit-ups.

In front of him, a wooden block held down his feet, and on the block lay the Weepinbell training manual. With each sit-up, Ace would read a section of the manual or turn to the next page.

Thus, while exercising and absorbing knowledge, Ace's time was incredibly productive.

It wasn't that Ace wanted to do this, but rather a new item had mysteriously appeared in his daily tasks.

"Daily Task (Trainer's Physique): In Pokémon battles, it's not just about the Pokémon's clash, but also the trainer's physique. Exercise two hours daily to maintain the trainer's physical strength. Task Reward: 10 Gold Coins, Task Points based on completion evaluation. (Refresh time: 11 hours)"

That's right, now Ace not only had to train his Pokémon, but he also had to exercise for two hours every day himself.

If not for this task, Ace would have preferred to quietly read or focus on guiding his Pokémon's training, rather than arduously exercising his body here.

While Ace exercised and read, Bellsprout intermittently sprayed Acid beside him, a faint scent lingering in the entire clearing.

On the other side, Zubat adjusted its body in mid-air, diving down at extreme speed, then making a sharp turn forward just before hitting the ground.

This was the Aerial Ace move. Ace wanted Zubat to master this move as quickly as possible to broaden Zubat's attack coverage.

Finally, further away from Ace, Lapras remained still, eyes closed as if resting.

But if you approached Lapras, you would feel the biting cold around it.

Zubat and Bellsprout were undergoing special training, so there was no reason for Lapras, Ace's third Pokémon, to be idle.

So, the special training Ace assigned to Lapras was to master its internal Ice-type moves, and if possible, attempt a powerful Ice-type move: Sheer Cold.

Of course, Ace didn't have high hopes.

As a powerful Ice-type move, Sheer Cold had extremely stringent learning conditions.

Firstly, the user must have a thorough understanding of Ice-type moves and a deep grasp of ice control.

Secondly, its strength must also be extremely high; weaker Pokémon simply couldn't comprehend this move.

Lastly, it required extremely low temperatures.

Absolute Zero!

Just hearing the name tells you how cold this move is. Without extremely low temperatures, it's impossible to master it.

As the saying goes: strong Ice-type Pokémon don't necessarily know Sheer Cold, but Pokémon that know Sheer Cold are definitely extremely powerful.

As for why Ace knew all this?

That's because he spent three hundred gold coins to purchase the Lapras Training Manual.

After all, if you own a Pokémon, you should at least understand its characteristics, right?

However, Ace didn't have high expectations for Lapras. After all, he tacitly considered it a tool, and even for training, Lapras didn't receive high-grade Energy Cubes; Ace only fed it basic ones.

Lapras didn't mind, or rather, it couldn't distinguish between these seemingly similar Energy Cubes and didn't realize there was so much hidden complexity within them.

But the straightforward Lapras discovered that after eating these delicious little things, its body immediately gained a beneficial energy.

Combined with the sight of Zubat and Bellsprout training desperately, Lapras naturally believed that it too needed to put in its utmost effort to repay Ace for giving it such good things to eat.

So, after distancing itself from Ace and the others, Lapras unreservedly began practicing its control over low temperatures, doing its best to complete Ace's given command.

Learn Sheer Cold!

The somewhat straightforward, or rather, stubborn Lapras didn't even consider whether this move was difficult to learn or if it could succeed.

To Lapras, Ace was a trainer with magical power. Even when it was on the verge of death, the next moment it could be brought back to life, its condition even better than its strongest state.

So, in Lapras's eyes, if Ace said it could learn Sheer Cold, then it absolutely could learn the move.

As for when it would learn it, that depended on how hard it worked!

To repay Ace for his efforts, Lapras put in 120% effort, diligently training according to Ace's instructions.

Sometimes, these stubborn individuals are terrifying because they either go down a path to regret forever.

Or they walk on the right path, strive forward, and achieve incredibly formidable accomplishments.

Clearly, Lapras was the latter.

When Ace finished his exercise and was about to prepare lunch, he discovered that the trees, flowers, and grass around Lapras were all encased in ice crystals!

One must remember, this was Cinnabar Island!

A volcanic island!

Cinnabar Island, where temperatures generally hovered around thirty degrees Celsius, was now directly frozen by Lapras!

Ace rubbed his eyes in disbelief, looking at the scene of ice crystals within a ten-meter radius, with Lapras at the center.

"Wait, Lapras, come here for a moment."

Ace called out to Lapras. Lapras opened its eyes, glanced at Ace, and with a single glide of its limbs on the frozen ice surface, swiftly slid towards Ace.

Lapras was fast on ice, but once it left the ice, its speed became almost zero.

Its massive body was not suited for land movement. Ace had no choice but to walk over, then began to scrutinize Lapras.

"Lapras, full of energy, control over ice is improving, recommended for training."

Ace was stunned. He knew that when he first captured Lapras, the system had indicated its aptitude was Average and advised against Ace spending effort training it.

How could Lapras have made such a breakthrough in such a short time and even gained the system's approval!
