Chapter Twenty
Mary and Sylvia looked at me in surprise.
"What… but you'll be in danger if you come with us," Mary said with concern.
"No… I already told you, I'll stay with you and not remain behind."
"Kim, you know you won't be able to withstand an attack, and yet you still want to come with us?"
"Do you know how risky this is?"
"Yes, and I still want to go with you."
Sylvia sighed at the heated argument between her and me before speaking.
"We know you want to help us, but this is really dangerous, Kim."
"No… I want to stay with you."
"Fine, but I want you to know that you insisted on coming with us."
After Sylvia agreed, Mary couldn't argue further, so the matter was settled.
I didn't refuse because I wanted to help them, but imagine if I stayed behind and that crazy George was waiting there for me.
My body shivered at the thought.
I can't take that risk.
What if I died because I was in the rear and something went wrong with the magic circle?
I would simply die in real life.
"Alright, everyone get your tools ready before we head to the river."
"But before all that, there's another problem here."
"Is there something else?" Mary asked.
Sylvia pointed behind us with her hand.
Mary and I turned to see five students kicking something.
Looking closely, we saw that they were kicking a student.
"Campbell Aronti."
Just a minor character who appears in the game, becoming friends with several heroes and helping them later as a merchant.
Honestly, he was a huge help to me in the game, so I had planned to get him on my side early.
All you had to do was support him with a few coins.
The system responded to my thoughts before issuing a quest.
[New Quest]
[Influence Campbell - Reward increases with influence level]
"Well… it's settled then."
I looked at Liam, who was getting beaten.
He was lying there pathetically as five students beat him.
Mary and I rushed closer so we could hear what they were saying.
"Just a commoner and you want to stay with us?"
"Damn your mother who gave birth to you."
"Miserable poor guy."
Mary couldn't take it anymore before she shouted at them:
"Damn all of you!"
"You think you're important just because your mothers are nobles?"
When Mary drew her sword, the five of them trembled in fear and started to flee.
Seeing the five run, I pulled out my gun and aimed at their heads.
"The first one's down."
I fired, and the first one's head exploded.
The second bullet pierced the second boy's heart.
The third struck the third boy's head.
The fourth pierced the fourth one's head and hit the fifth boy's leg.
The fifth boy looked at me in horror before speaking,
"You don't know what will happen if you kill me—my mother is…"
The bullet went through the fifth boy's head before he fell to the ground.
[Ding]
Then a blue screen appeared from the smart watch, and I couldn't help but smile.
[Points: 75]
Only five points left.
Even though they had only gathered 25 points in total, five each, I was still happy.
Mary looked at me before speaking,
"You know the rule about killing each other was just a guideline—no one actually uses it."
She was right. Imagine killing a noble and pushing them into the F-class.
You'd gather the hatred of the other students, and unless you had a high enough status, it could put you at risk of revenge.
But I didn't care about that.
Why should I let something as petty as the students' grudges stop me from entering Class S?
"Mary, you know this isn't the time for that," I said.
Mary looked at the beaten boy before walking toward him.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Slap
Campbell slapped Mary's hand away hard before starting to cry.
"I don't need your help… sob.....why does this always happen to me?I didn't choose to be born this way!Is it a crime to be born poor?"
Campbell began crying before unleashing a stream of desperate sobs.
Damn, is there anyone who can calm him down now?
I looked toward Liam, but it seemed he was crying in Sylvia's arms.
Damn you, pathetic bastard… I can't rely on you when I need you.
I looked at Mary, but after being slapped by Campbell, her gaze silently pleaded with me to do something.
"Haaaah…"
I couldn't help but sigh before walking over to Campbell.
I held his head and lifted his face toward me before speaking.
"It's not your fault at all."
He looked at me, his eyes now filled with tears.
"Do you really mean that?"
I smiled and looked at him.
"Yes…"
Then my expression turned serious.
Those pathetic bastards… I couldn't help but think.
"Campbell, you possess something even the rich don't."
"You have poverty."
Everyone went silent—even Liam, who was crying, couldn't help but look at me in shock.
I had said the only wise thing I knew in
this situation, and it seemed to deeply affect him.
