Chapter 15 - The Library Pavilion

After becoming a Soul Master, Yang Xiong's training regimen underwent a complete transformation, more accurately, he added quite a few new elements to it.

Although he was only eight years old, due to years of constant training, he had already grown to 1.4 meters tall, taller even than some children with beast-type martial souls.

Yang Xiong personally went to a blacksmith shop in Seven Treasure City and had a range of training equipment custom-made. He wore roughly fifteen kilograms of weighted gear at all times, including four wrist guards each weighing and a three kilograms, five kilograms chest plate. Additionally, he had sandbags made of small iron beads and an iron-constructed wooden dummy.

The so-called "wooden dummy" wasn't complicated in structure. It was a traditional martial arts training device commonly used in ancient Earth. The base was a large platform with a central iron column over 1.5 meters tall, full of holes. The iron post could rotate on its base when force was applied.

Each hole could be fitted with various oddly shaped iron arms, which could be customized as needed.

This wooden dummy was a culmination of martial techniques from ancient flower mountain on Earth, combining offensive moves, hand techniques, footwork, and legwork into a simulated training tool. It reflected ancient martial arts' focus on real combat awareness and technique.

However, while the ancient version was made from hardwood, Yang Xiong's custom version was forged entirely from iron, with interchangeable arms, making it far more versatile and durable than its predecessors.

After all, Douluo Continent is a fantasy world. Since becoming a Soul Master, Yang Xiong felt that both his strength and physique had significantly improved. Even at just eight years old, he believed he already surpassed many adult men from Earth.

Every morning, beyond his general exercises, Yang Xiong would train with the iron dummy and punch sandbags—this was his true combat simulation training.

When training with the iron dummy, as it spun, even the slightest delay in reaction could lead to being struck by the iron arms. The stronger and faster the movements, the higher the risk of getting hit. But Yang Xiong's martial soul required physical impact to grow stronger, so it was a good fit.

As for punching the sandbags, though they looked simple, it was one of the core elements of boxing.

The sandbags were filled entirely with fine iron sand and wrapped in soul beast hide. Even at full force, Yang Xiong couldn't break them. Every morning, he hit them with all his might, pushing his fists and feet to their limits.

Especially after hitting the iron sandbags with full force, the skin and flesh on his limbs would suffer bruises and trauma. The pain was intense, but it was exactly then that the special properties of his martial soul would kick in its terrifying healing abilities even amazed Yang Xiong himself.

By late morning, Yang Xiong rarely attended class anymore. Instead, he spent his time in the Seven Treasure Glazed Sect's Library Pavilion, where countless valuable resources awaited.

Afternoons were devoted entirely to physical conditioning. He would wear even heavier weights while running and swimming, pushing his stamina and endurance to the limit.

Though his days seemed simple, Yang Xiong could clearly feel himself growing stronger over time.

Of course, every three to five days, he would spar with his father. Though he was always beaten badly, these matches helped him gain valuable combat experience.

What surprised Yang Xiong the most was the richness of the Seven Treasure Glazed Sect's Library Pavilion.

The Pavilion had seven floors, each containing all kinds of books. The higher one went, the more secretive and valuable the texts became.

As the wealthiest sect on the Douluo Continent, the Seven Treasure Glazed Sect had clearly invested heavily in its library. The collection was vast and diverse, including training notes from many Titled Douluo experts, original soul skills created by advanced Soul Masters, and even extensive knowledge on poisonous flora and spiritual herbs. It was one of the most comprehensive libraries on the entire continent.

The higher the floor, the greater the value of the texts, many were rare or even one-of-a-kind, and some revealed hidden histories of the Soul Master world.

When Yang Xiong reached the sixth floor, he was amazed to find texts on the Clear Sky Sect's Random Cloak Hammer Technique, the Clear Sky Nine Techniques, and even the Dragon Transformation techniques from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Though these appeared to be battle notes compiled from previous masters, and some were incomplete, they were still extremely valuable.

To enter the seventh floor required a special token from the sect master or the two guardian elders, but Yang Xiong had received such a token from Ning Fengzhi long ago, allowing him unrestricted access.

If the first six floors were known for their richness and rarity, then the seventh floor was comparatively sparse, but of incomparably high value.

Even on his first visit, Yang Xiong's eyes widened in disbelief. This floor contained manuals on Split-Mind Control and the Seven Kill Sword Technique, as well as Bone Douluo's training methods. Though these texts only covered the preliminary stages, likely requiring personal instruction for the highest levels, hey were still astonishing.

Split-Mind Control was said to be a secret technique of the Seven Treasure Glazed Sect. Though not necessarily unique to them, it allowed the user to maximize the amplification effects of Seven Treasure Glazed Tower and even support multiple people simultaneously.

The Seven Kill Sword Technique was considered one of the most elite martial arts in existence, representing the pinnacle of swordsmanship.

What interested Yang Xiong most was Bone Douluo's training method. Bone Douluo's martial soul was Bone Dragon, and he was known as the most elusive master in the Soul Master world. However, his greatest strength actually lay in defense.

In terms of defense alone, he surpassed even Hu Yanzhen and Niu Gao of the Defense Clan. His power came not only from his unique martial soul but also from his specialized training methods.

Beyond that, Yang Xiong even discovered many defensive cultivation techniques from various clans in the Library Pavilion. These included not only unique training approaches but also methods of using medicinal stimulation to enhance one's defensive capabilities.

Immersed in the Library Pavilion, Yang Xiong felt as though he were swimming in an ocean of knowledge. Many of the things he read would benefit his future greatly, especially self-created soul skills, which could serve as references or inspirations for developing his own.

Of course, he also found many medicinal bath recipes passed down by various clans. Though they might not be the absolute best in the world, each had its own unique features and often suited particular types of martial souls.

Back at school, Lin Gong, the head teacher of Class One, was very strict about class discipline, but when it came to Yang Xiong, he felt helpless.

After all, the students were only eight years old and still learning basic Soul Master theory. There was little practical training involved.

Yang Xiong had stopped paying attention in class long ago. He only read books during lectures, and now he didn't even show up, opting instead to apply for leave and read in the Library Pavilion. This left the old man both frustrated and resigned.

Still, Lin Gong had no real recourse. Over the years, Yang Xiong had read so extensively and developed such a deep understanding of soul cultivation that he could even identify other people's martial souls at a glance. In terms of knowledge, he had likely surpassed many of the teachers.

Even so, Lin Gong insisted that Yang Xiong attend school at least once a week. Otherwise, he would become disconnected from the rest of the class. Moreover, as the class advisor, Lin Gong needed to understand his student's situation, he couldn't report back to the sect without knowing anything about him.
