Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: Back to Where It All Went Wrong

"What the... Where am I?"

Yuuta blinked.

A second ago I was at the rooftop i was—no, that version of me said something.

"Don't worry… Let's restart."

Restart? What did that even mean?

"Yuuta? Yuuta!" the teacher called from the front of the classroom.

He snapped out of his thoughts. "Ah… sorry, ma'am." He quickly bowed and shuffled to his seat.

But something felt off.

As he sat down, a familiar voice whispered beside him.

"Oi, oi, Yuuta!"

Yuuta turned. His eyes widened.

"Ha… Renji?"

Renji grinned from ear to ear. "You finally transferred to my school! I've been waiting ever since you told me."

Yuuta forced a small smile. What's going on? Renji didn't go to my middle school. None of this looks familiar. Wait…

His eyes scanned the classroom. Something was wrong—very wrong.

And then he saw her.

No.

It can't be…

Airi.

She was sitting alone by the window, quietly flipping through her notebook. Her eyes were hollow. Her posture was slouched. She looked… broken.

Yuuta's heart dropped.

This isn't right. We only met in high school. In my world, she was always surrounded by friends, always smiling...

Come to think of it... Sakura and Hikari met Airi in high school too.

And Renji—he never told me that he went to the same middle school as Airi.

So...

I'm in a different past now?

"What is happening...? Why am I in middle school?" I mumbled.

Atleast this world yuuta has peacefull past then me

---

The bell rang.

"Let's go, Yuuta. Next period's in the other block," Renji said, already packing up.

"Yeah…" Yuuta nodded absentmindedly and followed, but his eyes stayed on Airi.

She was alone. Quiet. Picking up her books slowly as if dreading every movement.

Suddenly, a group of boys surrounded her.

"Heh, time to play again," one of them sneered.

"Daiki and his gang…" someone whispered behind Yuuta. "They're always messing with her."

Yuuta froze in place. Who is this daiki

"Poor Airi…" another student muttered. "They never leave her alone."

"Oi, gloomy girl," Daiki called out. He kicked over her books, sending them scattering across the floor.

Airi flinched.

"You look bored today," Daiki said, grinning as he opened his water bottle.

Yuuta stepped forward, but Renji grabbed his arm.

"Yuuta, don't. It's got nothing to do with us," he whispered urgently.

Yuuta's fists clenched.

Splash.

The cold water drenched Airi's blouse. Her hands trembled. Her body shook.

"If I ask you something, nod your head," Daiki ordered.

Airi nodded slowly, her lips sealed tight in fear.

Yuuta's blood boiled.

"It's her fault anyway," Renji whispered. "She got in between Ruma and Daiki that day. She should've kept her head down."

Yuuta turned sharply. "What…?"

Daiki crouched, grabbing Airi's wrist roughly.

"So, let's skip class, yeah? You're our toy for the day."

"I… I'm sorry," Airi mumbled, barely audible. "I shouldn't have gotten between you and Ruma… Please forgive me…"

Yuuta couldn't believe what he was hearing.

She was apologizing to them. For being abused.

Daiki leaned in close to her face. "But now I like you, Airi. As a toy. So you're coming with me. Or…"

His hand raised to strike her.

But before he could move—a hand caught his wrist.

"…What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Daiki looked up, confused. "Huh?"

Yuuta's eyes burned with fury.

The room froze.

"That's the new transfer student," someone whispered. "Does he have a death wish?"

"What are you doing, Yuuta?!" Renji hissed.

Daiki's gang stepped forward. "Back off, new guy, unless you want to get hurt."

But Yuuta didn't flinch.

Daiki smirked. "I'll forgive you just once. Let go."

Yuuta said nothing. His glare didn't waver.

"Y-You should stop," Airi suddenly whispered. "You don't know me. I'm fine. You'll get in trouble because of me…"

Yuuta exhaled, calming his breath. He slowly released Daiki's hand… and grabbed Airi's instead.

"Come on, Airi. We're late for class," he said gently.

She blinked, stunned, as he pulled her forward.

But before they could leave—Daiki grabbed Airi's other arm.

"She's my toy," he spat. "You don't get to take her."

Yuuta froze.

Airi looked back in terror.

Then Yuuta sighed.

"…Wrong answer."

CRACK.

His foot drove into Daiki's jaw with a sharp kick. The bully flew backwards, slammed into the lockers, and collapsed in a heap.

Gasps echoed through the hallway.

"D-DAIKI?!"

Renji's voice trembled. "Yuuta…"

Daiki's gang backed away, stunned. No one had ever dared fight back.

Yuuta stepped forward, towering over Daiki's unconscious form.

"She's not anyone's toy," he said, voice like ice. "And I'm forgiving you just this once."

His eyes sharpened into a death glare.

"But if you ever lay a finger on her again—I will end you."
