"Roar!"
A terrifying roar echoed from deep within the Hive.
Alice and Carlos both turned pale at the sound.
Vincent Fox spread his hands. "Looks like I was right."
Alice bit her lip, her expression firm.
"No matter what Umbrella Corporation is plotting, I'm going to destroy them!"
Vincent smiled. "Same here."
Carlos, though still visibly nervous, couldn't say much in protest.
The three continued forward.
They passed through a long corridor and entered a spacious room.
The entire room was shrouded in darkness, making it impossible to see the surroundings clearly.
Alice's instincts screamed at her there was something dangerous lurking in the shadows.
"Stay alert. I can sense something's wrong here," Alice warned.
Carlos immediately turned on his flashlight, sweeping the beam across the room.
When the light hit one of the corners
Suddenly.
A flash of red darted past.
"Roar!"
A savage roar exploded in the dark.
A grotesque monster burst out of the shadows.
It moved on all fours, its spine trailing into a long, whip-like tail. Its entire body was raw, red muscle, looking like a giant skinned lizard.
It looked similar to a Licker.
But this thing was far larger and far more terrifying.
Alice's face changed immediately.
"Careful! It's a mutated Licker!"
Without hesitation, she drew her gun and opened fire.
Carlos joined in, unloading his rounds.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunfire roared through the room.
Both of them had excellent aim. The mutated Licker was quickly pinned down, its body riddled with bullet wounds.
Just then
A second mutated Licker burst from the darkness, leaping straight toward Alice.
Her expression shifted in shock.
She hadn't expected there to be a second one hiding in the room.
At this distance, there was no time for her to dodge.
At that critical moment, Vincent finally made his move.
With a single flash step, he closed the distance like a ghost, appearing next to the mutated Licker in the blink of an eye.
A glint of the blade!
Slash!
The mutated Licker was cleaved in half at the waist.
Its massive upper body skidded to a stop at Alice's feet, leaving a bloody trail across the floor.
"Alice, are you alright?" Carlos asked anxiously.
Without even turning her head, Alice replied, "I'm fine." Her eyes, however, were locked on Vincent.
Just now, Vincent's attack had been so fast, even she hadn't seen it clearly.
She wasn't an ordinary human she was also a T-virus carrier, though she hadn't fully mutated. She was essentially a superhuman.
Her physical strength and reaction speed far exceeded normal humans.
And yet she hadn't been able to follow his movements.
That alone proved how terrifying Vincent's power truly was.
"Seems like you've been hiding quite a lot from us," Alice said slowly.
Vincent frowned, his gaze sweeping the room.
He could sense that more monsters were lurking in the darkness, waiting for the right moment to strike.
"Now's not the time for this conversation. There are more mutated Lickers here."
Hearing this, Alice's expression hardened. She no longer dared to let her guard down.
"We need to get out of here, fast!" Alice urged. "Through that door, we should find the elevator to the lower levels."
"Go!" Vincent barked.
The three of them dashed forward.
Strangely enough, the other mutated Lickers in the room didn't pursue them. They simply watched as the trio left without lifting a claw.
It was as if the mutated Lickers had gained some degree of intelligence and realized these three weren't easy targets.
…
After passing through the room, they entered an elevator and quickly descended to the core of the Hive.
Ding.
When the elevator doors slid open, what greeted them was an unexpectedly luxurious living space.
The walls, created by high-tech holographic projections, simulated beautiful open fields, so lifelike it was hard to tell they weren't real.
It felt as though stepping outside would reveal blue skies and white clouds.
If it weren't for the elevator behind them, one could easily mistake this underground space for the surface world.
In the center of the room sat an expensive-looking leather sofa.
A well-dressed man was sitting there leisurely, sipping red wine.
This was none other than Dr. Alexander Isaacs, the real power behind Umbrella Corporation.
Standing silently behind him was Albert Wesker.
Seeing these two, Alice's face darkened slightly.
She hadn't expected them to actually be hiding here at the bottom of the Hive.
"Alice… and this gentleman," Isaacs greeted with a smile. "May I ask how I should address you?"
"Would you like to come over for a drink? This is a 1907 vintage Blanc de Blancs champagne. Quite exquisite."
"Isaacs!" Alice growled. "Hand over the T-virus antidote!"
But Isaacs only gave a calm, self-assured smile, completely in control.
"Alice, you're still so naive. Do you really think you're the only human who perfectly bonded with the T-virus?"
Alice's expression changed. "You…"
To be continued.
