One by one, the corpses of the bandits transformed into zombies.
But with someone like Vincent Fox around, they didn't even get the chance to lift their heads.
These baby zombies were destined to be killed all over again.
Seventeen corpses in total.
Vincent personally took down nine. Autumn Summer handled the remaining eight.
On top of that, Vincent tried using his Blazing Flame ability directly on a zombie and it worked. The fire incinerated the creature alive.
Zombies feared fire by nature, and even more so, sunlight.
(Unless, of course, the zombie's cultivation had reached terrifying levels.)
But Vincent's flame wasn't just ordinary fire it was born from the sun itself.
That made it especially effective against creatures weak to sunlight.
This discovery thrilled Vincent.
He hadn't expected Blazing Flame to be this overpowered.
…
Inside the pit, the fire still roared.
All the bandit corpses had been dumped in and were now turning to ash.
Vincent looked up. In the eastern sky, the horizon was beginning to glow with the pale silver of dawn.
Morning was coming.
Next, Vincent used Blazing Flame to burn down all the wooden huts in the camp.
Only three horses were kept; the rest were set free.
He erased all traces of the bandit camp.
By the time everything was finished, daylight had begun to break.
They hadn't slept a wink that night.
Vincent, thanks to his Saitama Physique, was still full of energy. Autumn, on the other hand, looked a little tired.
"You alright, Autumn? Want to stop and rest somewhere?" Vincent asked.
Autumn smiled and shook her head. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Let's stick to the plan."
Seeing her insist, Vincent replied bluntly, "Alright. We'll rest at the next town."
With that, the two of them set out together.
As for Old Master Ren, he was sealed tightly in a wooden crate, wrapped in a thick black cloth to prevent sunlight from seeping through and cooking him alive.
They had three horses.
Vincent rode one, Autumn rode another, and the third carried Old Master Ren.
…
Meanwhile, back in Renjia Town…
Damon lawson, Elias Vale, and the others hadn't slept all night either.
Not because they didn't want to but because they couldn't.
The one and only zombie had been snatched away by Vincent Fox…
And all of them had taken on the "kill the zombie" mission.
If they failed the task, someone would die.
How could anyone sleep with that kind of pressure?
They were going insane with anxiety.
At the moment, they were slouched in a small breakfast stall, eyes bloodshot, eating in silence while brainstorming a new plan.
"Renjia Town isn't that big. We've searched every inch of it."
"Even the Ren family has people looking."
"At this point, it's obvious. The zombie is no longer in town. Someone took it."
"And whoever did it, damn them to hell. If I find them, I swear I'll make them regret being born."
Their words dripped with fury.
Even the usually composed Damon and Elias looked deeply unsettled.
Just then, the girl among them Serena Wren spoke up.
"Guys, I think I know who took the zombie."
"Oh?" one of the boys leaned forward eagerly. "Serena, really? Who?"
Everyone turned to her.
Serena explained, "Before entering the Forbidden Zone, Damon Lawson told us the instructors wanted us to eliminate the two top students from Martial Saint Academy."
"I've been searching all night. Haven't seen either of them. I even asked their classmates none of them have seen them either."
"So, I suspect those two also took on the zombie mission. And they probably had the exact same idea we did."
Credit where it's due Serena was sharp.
While investigating the zombie's whereabouts, she'd also deduced this much.
"In other words, the bastards who stole the zombie are probably those two from Martial Saint Academy?" a boy growled, clenching his fists.
"I think so," Serena replied calmly.
"Damn it! Even if the instructor hadn't given us the hit order, I still wouldn't let them off!"
"Trash-tier students from some garbage academy messing with our plans? Making me pull an all-nighter? They deserve to die."
Each of them cursed under their breath, murder in their eyes.
Damon finally spoke. "Right now, the priority is to find them."
Someone suggested, "What if we ask Uncle Nate for help? Our instructor said that Taoist is the real deal. He might know some tracking spells."
"Yeah. That old Daoist might actually help."
"How do we convince him?"
"Convince him? Why bother? The corpse went missing from his morgue. He has a responsibility to recover it. If not for us, then at least to answer to the Ren family."
"Alright then. Let's finish eating and go straight to the funeral parlor."
After settling the plan, they shoved a few mouthfuls of buns down and rushed off to find Uncle Nate.
