After stepping off the bus near school gate, Jimmy headed straight to one of the specialized medical apothecaries — a modest place with clean glass counters and jars full of glowing herbs and bottled elemental potions.
He quietly showed his newly acquired voucher to the pharmacist, who blinked at first, then nodded respectfully. Not many came in with those.
"Feel free to select your combination," the pharmacist said. "Top shelf. Behind the glass."
Jimmy pointed silently: Seven Water-type Body Potions and Three Thunder-Type Stim portions. The clerk nodded and carefully packed them into an insulated bag, handing it over with a slight bow.
Jimmy nodded with quiet thanks, his fingers wrapping tightly around the handle of the bag. In his other hand, he still carried the boxed incubator—a sleek model with a crystal-lined shell and light-reactive panels. Its seal shimmered slightly with protective sigils.
He also brought Star Cherries, kino Grapes, cuerpo fruit and Volt berries. He picked a wide variety—flesh-heavy, energy-rich fruits designed for Whisp consumption—especially body-enhancing and stamina-regulating ones. Some were rare, marked with silver tags.
He whispered toward Luna, who floated quietly beside him on his shoulder. "We'll come back tonight. We'll stock up more then. But this much… is a start."
At the counter, he swiped his card.
Transaction Approved.
A soft jingle confirmed it, and Jimmy's heart leapt with relief. The card is real. The money is real.
With arms full of supplies, he stepped out onto the road once more, wind tugging at his coat. As he passed the front gate of the academy, the security guard—an older man with a bushy moustache and a curious streak—glanced up from his tea.
"Hey, welcome back. Smooth journey?" he asked.
Jimmy gave a small nod and held up the fruit box with a grin.
"What's in the bag?"
Jimmy signed a reply with his free hand, a little mischievous: "Just fruits. portions"
The guard chuckled. "Shopping spree, huh? Been a while since you carried this much."
Jimmy gave him a polite wave. But before heading in, he did one more thing.
He pulled out the incubator, holding it discreetly near his waist. With a whisper of mental command, it shimmered—and shrank down into a small, cube. Lightweight. Compact. Perfect for concealment.
He tucked it beneath the fruit pile, nestled safely. The security guard squinted at the box, nodded, and let him pass.
Back inside his dorm room, the door shut with a soft hiss behind him.
Jimmy exhaled deeply.
He placed everything on his desk—fruits, potions, incubator—and immediately brought up his phone, searching Whisp nutrition charts and fruit impact tables, scanning across tiers: from Common to Rare, Base-level to Class-S. He bookmarked a few options for later.
Then, he called Luna over.
"Let's begin," he signed, eyes focused.
Luna, silent and graceful, hovered down and curled up on the floor mat. Jimmy handed her two deep brown fruits cuerpo fruit — body enhancers designed to restore balance after energy stress—and then uncapped one electric-type portions.
Luna consumed them quietly, her breathing slowing. Her tail flicked. Her feathers shimmered faintly with internal charge.
"Energy levels are rising…" she murmured through their link.
Jimmy nodded. He grabbed a bucket and placed it near her. "Train while your energy absorbs. Let's reduce overflow."
He then sat with a large leather-bound book in his lap, flipping to a page titled "Mental Flow Channelling for Tamers." His fingers moved across the letters, she also use her energy to make those letters for energy consumption.
Across the room, Luna dipped her paws into the bucket, focusing on absorbing the energy into her limbs and tail.
After twenty minutes, Jimmy opened his Codex.
Luna – Whisp StatusLevel: Primary – 9th Level(15 / 200)*Energy Conversion (Tier 1): 65 / 100+
Jimmy blinked. "Already near evolution…"
But something felt… uneven.
He looked closer. Despite the rise in internal energy, Luna's physical strength hadn't scaled in sync. The body-enhancing fruit helped recovery, but hadn't empowered her physique the way the Codex suggested it should. Luna was eating well, but her output was not yet optimal.
He signed, "Do you need potions?"
But Luna shook her head and curled her tail, replying softly, "Not potions. The fruits. More of them. It balances me better."
Jimmy hesitated. Too much might overload her… but if she feels it helps…
He took a breath and handed her two more high-grade fruits—denser, glowing slightly with slow-released nutrients.
Luna nibbled them calmly. A moment later, she sat upright.
.............................
Luna had just finished the last of the body-enhancing fruit when it happened.
She blinked, looked down at her paws, and let out a surprised yelp. "Jimmy! What's happening?!"
Her body had visibly grown from 1.0m to 1.2 m — leaner muscles, sleeker feathers, her frame stretching from a childlike build to something more adolescent. Her voice, still delicate, now carried more force. She looked stronger—not just in appearance, but in presence.
Jimmy, though slightly stunned, kept calm. He signed quickly, his hands a blur of thought.
"Your energy levels were overflowing before. It was bottling your growth. But now, your body has caught up—balanced. The fruits and those Thunder potions stabilized it. Your power didn't just increase—it aligned."
Luna gave a little twirl, testing her newfound strength. She stopped, smiling. Her feet didn't even wobble.
Jimmy straightened, suddenly serious.
"Let's confirm it. We're going to the school's testing ground, for energy testing."
The Testing Ground
The Whisp Energy Testing Ground wasn't usually crowded at this time of day, but a few students lingered around the machines—black, pillar-like devices with floating core crystals designed to scan and measure a Whisp's raw energy output.
Jimmy stepped up to one and placed his academy ID on the side scanner. A soft chime confirmed the session.
"Testing fee: 50 points" the display read.
He sighed inwardly. Even with newfound wealth, the number still stung. Money is just a number now, but not points. he reminded himself.
He tapped "Confirm."
The testing core glowed, projecting a scanning circle around Luna.
"Step in," the machine voice instructed.
Luna walked into the centre, paws glowing faintly as her aura responded to the magnetic pull of the scan. A second later, light burst upward from her feet to her head—swirling streams of blue and silver dancing around her.
The scanner beeped.
Then buzzed.
Then buzzed again—louder.
On the holographic display above the crystal:
Whisp Energy Detected: 14,459 Units
A low whistle escaped from a nearby testing technician, a young man in a lab coat who had been inputting data at a nearby console.
He walked over slowly, eyes narrowing. "Is this an intermediate-class Whisp?" he asked, voice low and puzzled.
Jimmy shook his head immediately. "No. She's still Primary rank."
The technician blinked. "Are you sure? That number is well beyond expected. Most Primary Whisps tap out under 10,000."
Jimmy's heart raced. He didn't like the attention.
Before the technician could question further, Jimmy reached out and ended the session.
"Thank you," he said curtly and turned, gesturing for Luna to follow.
They left fast, walking quickly through the halls and back to the dormitories. Jimmy's mind was spinning. That number is going to raise eyebrows.
.........................
Just as Jimmy closed the dorm room door behind him, his phone buzzed to life. A glowing notification blinked on his wall screen.
Incoming Call: Class B Homeroom Teacher
Jimmy froze. He hadn't expected this—not so soon.
He exchanged a quick look with Luna, who had just curled up on his bed, still glowing faintly with residual energy from the earlier scan.
The call connected before he could think twice.
Class teacher 's calm, composed face flickered into view as a soft projection. She wore her usual serious expression, glasses reflecting unreadable data as she glanced at her console.
"Jimmy," she said smoothly, "interesting numbers showing up from today's energy testing session. All over the school forums."
Jimmy felt a rush of heat to his face.
Class teacher leaned back slightly, folding his hands. "Fourteen thousand, four hundred fifty-nine units." She paused. "Do you want to tell me what's going on?"
Luna said in form of jimmy 'ono nonnonoo... I think the machine was malfunctioning.'
Class teacher said nothing and cut the call, uneasiness from jimmy's heart went down.
Time is 3:52. Time for training.
