Chapter 57 - Home sweet home

After the broker finalized the paperwork and handed over the digital keys, he bowed respectfully and took his leave with a smile. Jimmy stood alone now—truly alone—in the wide space that stretched around him like a quiet dream.

The moment lingered, then reality returned.

Jimmy opened his notepad and started listing everything he would need:

An energy tester to monitor Luna's fluctuations

Basic training equipment for agility and coordination drills

A food storage system with elemental regulation (for fruits, portions, and rare items)

A proper kitchen setup

Basic medical supplies, lighting tools, and Whisp rest chambers

He sighed and checked the time. There was one thing he had to do first before he could settle here.

Jimmy returned to the school dormitory and approached the admin building. The interior was busy—students requesting meal plans, accommodation changes, test reassignments.

When Jimmy handed over his request form—an application to stay outside the school dorms—the staff member behind the desk squinted at him.

"Stay outside?" the man asked, raising a brow. "But the school year's only just begun. Most students haven't even unpacked yet. Why would you leave now?"

Jimmy, ever silent, typed out a short message on his device and showed the screen:

"My mother arranged a private residence for me nearby. It's better for training."

The man narrowed his eyes. "Mother? Aren't you from the orphanage records?"

Jimmy paused for a second. Then nodded.

"We called the caretaker 'Mother.' That's what she was to us."

There was silence.

The man exhaled through his nose, leaning back. His expression softened just a little as he looked at the small, mute boy in front of him—firm, polite, and composed.

"Technically... that checks out," he muttered. "I was going to call her for confirmation, but..."

He glanced at Jimmy's bandaged hand and the Whisp tamer badge on his collar.

"…You don't look like the kind of kid who lies to escape rules. Alright."

He stamped the form and handed Jimmy a digital slip.

"You're approved to stay off-campus. No extra fee, since your year has already paid in full. We'll refund half of your dorm balance in a few days."

Jimmy bowed lightly in gratitude and turned to leave.

Scene: Farewells at the Dorm

Back at the dorm entrance, Jimmy passed the hostel guard—a gruff but kind man who had seen many students come and go. He noticed Jimmy carrying his bag, a folded mattress, and Luna's feeding box.

"You're moving out?" the guard asked. "No one bullied you, right?"

Jimmy shook his head.

"I just like to live alone," he signed.

The guard scratched his beard and sighed. "Well... to each their own. Take care, alright? You've got that quiet strength. I hope the world doesn't mess it up."

Jimmy smiled and nodded before walking out with everything packed neatly. In less than an hour, he had cleared his space, turned in his dorm card, and officially moved out.

Back in the new house, Jimmy placed Luna on the floor and told her:

"Explore. It's yours too."

Luna squeaked happily and scampered around, sniffing each room like a puppy given freedom for the first time. She pawed at the windows, stretched out on the smooth wooden floor, and leapt atop a sunlit table.

Meanwhile, Jimmy began checking every inch of the house.

The furniture was basic but strong. The training shed was wide enough for both movement and skill drills. There was even a hatch in the back for underground storage. But…

the lights and console boards.

The plant-based Whisp repaired the water lines with natural root-binding techniques.

A new password-locked security node was installed at the front gate.

The lights flickered on. The taps ran clear. A fan began to hum.

Jimmy stood in the centre of the room and exhaled deeply.

It felt like home now.

He turned to the broker and tapped a thank-you note into his device:

"If anything goes wrong… can I call you?"

The broker patted Jimmy on the shoulder and nodded with a grin. "Of course. Call me anytime."

As the group left, Jimmy looked at Luna, who had made a small nest of towels in the corner and was now happily spinning in place.

He smiled.

............................................................

Jimmy returned home, walking softly on the stone path now familiar under his feet. In one arm he carried a few basic supplies he had picked up personally; the rest would arrive soon. On his shoulder, Luna dozed peacefully—her small body warm against his neck, her breathing calm but ever so slightly glowing with a quiet energy.

He stepped into the house, locked the door behind him with a soft chime, and gently sat on the low wooden bench. Luna stirred, half-awake, stretching her limbs like a cat.

"Anything you need, Luna?" Jimmy asked quietly, placing a hand near her head.

Luna yawned and shook her head lazily. "Ononon... I just... how long do I have to keep holding all this energy?"

She sounded tired—not physically, but energetically weighed down.

Jimmy opened his phone and began scrolling. "What if you could release it... like through a skill?" he signed, then tapped on a specific screen.

He showed her an entry: Rain Calling — a rare, weather-type move that manipulates cloud formation and atmospheric condensation to summon a downpour.

Luna's eyes widened.

She didn't just stare—her gaze locked onto the screen like it was a piece of her soul trying to remember something forgotten.

Then Jimmy felt it.

A soft hum in the air. The aura around Luna began to flicker, shifting from its usual watery shimmer into a deep blueish glow, like the calm eye of a storm just before it speaks.

The temperature in the room dropped slightly.

Outside, the sunlight dimmed. The sky beyond the windows turned grey, streaks of dark clouds swirling at unnatural speed as if called by an unseen force. The wind whispered louder. Leaves rustled though no breeze passed through the trees.

Jimmy stood up. "Luna... wait—"

But before he could say more, the clouds suddenly halted mid-spin—then dissolved, evaporating like smoke into the noon sky.

The energy snapped back into Luna like a whip. She gasped, her body briefly shaking, then immediately used her Healing Light to stabilize herself. The golden-white radiance enveloped her, quieting her spasms.

Jimmy rushed to her side, lifting her into his arms. "Are you okay?!"

Luna gave a weak but proud nod. "Ononon... drained so much. I couldn't finish it."

Jimmy exhaled in relief and smiled. "Don't worry. That is why I calling you to stop. Try starting smaller. Focus on condensing mist. You know what I told you before—mist becomes clouds... clouds bring rain. Start there."

A metaphorical bulb lit above Luna's head.

"Onon!" she chirped with sudden clarity.

Without wasting another moment, she trotted outside into the backyard. Jimmy followed and watched as Luna sat in the center of the stone courtyard and began generating soft Mist Clouds—controlled, elegant streams of water vapor released from her body. The particles hovered, slowly rising and forming whisper-thin wisps of cloud above her head.

Bit by bit, she was doing it—not by brute force, but by understanding nature's rhythm.

Proud, Jimmy walked back inside and fetched an Ice-type evolution fruit, placing it gently on a flat leaf-shaped dish. Luna returned after her short training burst, panting slightly. He handed her the fruit.

She chewed thoughtfully, and her body shimmered with a thin coat of frost. It wasn't freezing—just stabilizing her overflowing energy, syncing it with her water core.

Jimmy gave her a thumbs-up and walked to the front gate to meet the delivery crew. She aslo went to practice more.

Several workers stood there, unloading crates and setting up machines.

Energy Tester ✔️Training Dummy Frames ✔️Miniature Obstacle Dome ✔️Smart Cooling Food Unit ✔️Basic Kitchen Core with Auto Heat Element ✔️Water Filter and Dispenser ✔️

"Thank you all," Jimmy signed and bowed. They responded with surprised smiles at his politeness and efficiency. Most people didn't expect a rich mute shy boy to be so sharp.

He returned inside, arranged everything, and glanced at Luna's new readings on his Codex:

[Primary 9th Level: 15558 Energy Units]

It was 2:00 PM.

The number kept rising... but now, it was doing so in balance.

Jimmy leaned against the wall, crossed his arms, and looked outside at Luna, who sat quietly under a forming fog cloud—one that she was building all by herself.
