The sun had begun its descent, casting long golden beams through the trees as Jimmy tightened the strap on his bag and stepped out of the house once more. His heart was pounding—not out of fear, but out of excitement. Luna was going to evolve.
She had been training all afternoon, pushing herself in short bursts—releasing energy, then rebuilding it. Resting. Pushing again. Her body glowed faintly every time she tapped into her deeper reserves, and Jimmy knew it wouldn't be long now.
But there was something he hadn't done yet—capturing this moment.
He rushed into town, eyes sharp, ignoring most things around him until he arrived at the Tech Plaza. The air inside was cool and sterile, lined with rows of gadgets, drones, and holographic gear.
He signed quickly to the clerk:
"I need a high-frame auto-focus camera. Motion stabilized. Capable of energy capture recording. Good enough to document a Whisp evolution."
The man blinked in surprise, then smiled and nodded. "Ah, someone's about to have a very special day."
He handed Jimmy a silver, lens-heavy camera packed with tracking sensors and a built-in aura filter, perfect for Whisp documentation. Jimmy paid without hesitation—this moment mattered.
By the time he returned home, the sky was painted with streaks of amber and violet. Luna was still in the backyard, circling through light energy bursts and calming movements. Jimmy set the camera up, testing angles and making sure it was fully charged.
Then, while Luna continued practicing, Jimmy stepped aside to make two important calls.
First, he called Sister Lisa.
The connection opened with a familiar soft chime, and her kind face appeared in a small hologram above the screen.
"Jimmy?" she asked gently, seeing the determination in his eyes.
He signed rapidly, excitement radiating from his gestures.
"Sister Lisa, she's going to evolve today. She's almost there. Her energy levels are peaking."
Lisa gasped softly and clasped her hands. "Oh, You're doing this all on your own...very good; I'm proud. Truly."
Jimmy smiled and signed again.
"She's doing most of the work. I just made space for her to grow."
Lisa chuckled. "That's more than most people ever do. Keep me updated, okay? I want to see her when she shines."
Jimmy nodded.
Just as he hung up, another call came through—this one from the school.
It was his class teacher, the one who had noticed Luna's rising power levels.
"Jimmy," the voice came sharp but not unkind, "I received your change-of-residence slip. You've already moved out of the dormitory? Why? The school just started."
Jimmy hesitated.
Then he typed out a response and let the voice AI speak for him:
"I prefer to live alone. I focus better that way."
There was a short silence. The teacher sighed.
"I heard everything form office. You're not being punished, you know. You're not a burden. You did not come to school as you thought yourself as burden. I was hoping to see more of your growth here, not less."
Jimmy added quickly:
"I'm still coming to class. I just... need space for her. For Luna."
The teacher softened. "Then I hope your new place brings you peace and progress. Keep doing what you're doing."
Jimmy nodded and ended the call.
............................
Back in the courtyard, time was 8: 32; as twilight wrapped the sky in hues of violet and deep blue, Jimmy returned to Luna's side. She was still glowing faintly, surrounded by low clouds of mist, droplets glistening like stars.
He looked at the Codex one last time.
[Luna - Primary 9th Level: 190/200]
10 points away.
Jimmy gave her a thumbs-up and turned on the camera.
The moment was near.
Auspicious time is near....
