Kevin Cross wasn't limited to just using blades. After all, wasn't playing with guns a man's instinct no, his nature? Or maybe not. Whatever the case, he had a certain fondness for firearms.
So on the way to the bank, Kevin couldn't help himself he started playing with his gun.
Bang, bang, bang. Bullets spat from the muzzle in rapid bursts. At first, since it was his first time, his aim was off. Not only did he fail to kill any zombies, but the gunfire attracted even more of them.
Still, Kevin's physical prowess was exceptional, and now that his Sharingan had awakened, his dynamic vision was off the charts. It didn't take long before he reached the point where he could shoot exactly where he aimed.
When the last bullet was finally spent, he lowered the barrel of the now overheated gun with a sigh. The weapon felt limp in his hands. Holstering it, he immediately charged forward, slicing his way through the horde drawn in by the noise.
The Mitsubishi Bank was the largest in the city. But now, it was a dead zone literally. Nothing remained inside but shambling corpses.
With an Okamoto 0.01 condom in hand, Kevin rushed in. Before the undead even realized what was happening, he'd already dispatched every last one of them.
But when he reached the vault, trouble reared its head he had no idea how to open it. Keys? Maybe he could find one on a corpse. But fingerprints? Retinal scans? That was a no-go.
He only had one option: brute force.
Kevin stomped the ground. Beneath the floor was a massive slab of reinforced metal. Not even Earth Release techniques would let him tunnel through.
"So, brute force it is," he muttered, shaking his head but his eyes gleamed with a hint of excitement.
This was a bank heist. Sure, the world was in chaos, the undead roamed freely, and society's rules had all but collapsed. But for someone like Kevin, who'd never done anything like this before, it was exhilarating.
The problem was, cracking open a vault door made of who-knows-how-thick solid metal wasn't something he had a ready jutsu for. After all, Izumi Uchiha hadn't specialized in ninjutsu; her forte was taijutsu. And since Kevin had copied everything she had, he wasn't any better off in that department.
Which left him only one method.
"Susanoo."
A towering skeletal structure materialized before the vault. The space was tight, but that didn't stop it from unleashing a devastating blow.
Boom
The vault door gave way under the sheer force. But right on cue, the alarm system blared to life.
Kevin froze.
He hadn't expected a security system to still be active. But thinking about it, of course there would be one. This was a bank vault. Forcibly opening it? Of course there'd be an alarm.
And now, that siren was going to bring more zombies.
Not that they could actually hurt him, but they were still an annoying hassle.
He promptly smashed the alarm panel to shut it up, then closed the main doors to the bank. At least that would slow the undead down. Only then did he step into the vault.
"Damn. That's a lot of gold." Kevin couldn't help but swallow.
Inside, most of the paper currency had already decayed into worthless scraps. But the shelves stacked high with gold bars hit him like a truck.
Even with a cheat ability that let him travel between worlds, this was the first time Kevin had ever seen this much gold in one place.
The bars came in various weights 50 grams, 100 grams, 200 grams, 500 grams the largest ones weighing nearly 2,000 grams each.
Taking a deep breath to calm his racing heart, Kevin quickly set about collecting the bars. But just as he was about to return home with his haul, he hesitated.
This world was crawling with the undead, and the virus was likely airborne or worse, clinging to surfaces. What if the gold carried traces of it back with him?
"Fire Style: Majestic Flame Annihilation!"
A massive wave of fire engulfed the vault. The paper money ignited and crumbled into ash. The gold, too, began to melt in the intense heat, fusing together under Kevin's control into a single, massive orb.
Extreme-temperature sterilization that was the only method Kevin could think of.
And frankly, transporting a giant ball of gold was a lot easier than dealing with thousands of individual bars. At least, it was easier for him.
With the vault still ablaze behind him, Kevin left the world carrying his massive, molten gold sphere.
Back home, he was still riding the high. He even posted a photo in the chat group.
Saeko Busujima: "Is that... gold?"
Kevin Cross: "Yep. Found it, and brought it back."
Izumi: "All that gold in one ball? How much is there?"
Kevin Cross: "Not much, not much. Just a few dozen tons. Not even a hundred."
One ton of gold was worth over fifty million U.S. dollars. So with several dozen tons, Kevin was sitting on a gold pile worth billions. He figured if he threw that much money at Dr. Stein, there was no way the guy wouldn't be able to build a top-tier laboratory.
Izumi Uchiha: "Dozens of tons of gold... that's unreal."
Kumoko: "Umm, umm, group leader, how are you planning to turn all that gold into actual money?"
Kevin Cross: "Turn it into money?"
He blinked, glancing at the giant sphere behind him. There was no source documentation for this gold, no paper trail, nothing he could use to legally exchange it. And he had no contacts in the black market, either...
"…"
The chat went quiet. Everyone suddenly understood his predicament.
Kumoko: "HAHAHAHA! I'm dying! You got all that gold and you can't even spend it! Hahahaha!"
She rolled on the floor, laughing until her stomach hurt.
"…"
Kevin rubbed his temple. Now he had a headache. He hadn't expected the hard part of stealing gold to be figuring out what to do with it afterward.
Of course, if he really wanted to, he could find someone to move it. He had power, after all hypnosis with the Sharingan could open many doors. But... what a pain. With this much gold, just dealing with it was going to be a full-time job.
