Eevee is about to hatch.
Staring at the Pokémon egg with his dark pupils, Yun's heart surged along with the glowing light.
Crack…
As the light completely filled Yun's vision, a sharp sound echoed. He felt a sudden flash in front of him, and then everything fell silent again.
At this moment, the white egg with brown markings was already covered in spiderweb-like cracks. Soon, as the cracks spread, the eggshell gradually broke apart.
"Bui~"
Just as Yun's heart nearly leapt to his throat, finally, a tiny lifeform emerged from the egg and began curiously observing its surroundings.
Compared to the images, the living Eevee was even more adorable.
Its smooth brown fur and fluffy tail with a creamy tip brushed gently against the floor. Lifting its head, Eevee noticed Yun. Its bright brown eyes sparkled with intelligence. When Yun smiled, Eevee stretched out its short slender legs and rubbed against him with its soft pink paw pads.
"Please take care of me," Yun said, smiling as he gently picked Eevee up.
It's a common instinct for newly hatched Pokémon to treat the first living being they see as their caretaker, and this little Eevee was no exception.
As Yun held it, Eevee's long rabbit-like ears twitched slightly. Its tiny black nose sniffed Yun intensely, as if trying to commit his scent to memory.
"Bui~ Bui~~"
Gradually, Eevee became bolder and rubbed harder against Yun, seemingly finding comfort in it.
"Eevee, from now on, we'll be the most important partners, okay?"
"Bui~"
Eevee looked at Yun warmly. Though it might not fully understand his words yet, it still nodded instinctively and responded cheerfully.
Right now, not only did Eevee feel close to Yun, but Yun, having guarded the egg for several days and witnessed its hatching, also fell deeply for this clingy little fellow.
For newborn Pokémon, it's best to rinse their body with warm water.
Yun remembered this guideline and quickly took Eevee to the bathroom. Fortunately, Eevee's temperament was indeed gentle, making their interaction smooth and effortless.
After the bath, Eevee shook off the water from its fur and suddenly shivered. Although the water was warm, having just been born, it still felt a bit of chill.
"I almost forgot."
Seeing Eevee's reaction, Yun slapped his forehead and carried Eevee back to the bedroom to grab a silk scarf by the bed.
"Wrap this around you. You'll warm up soon."
He explained as he gently wrapped the scarf around Eevee's neck. Amusedly, the scarf appeared oversized on the small Eevee, who had only just hatched.
Yun couldn't help but stare in awe.
Ironically, the large scarf turned out to be excellent for warmth—like a miniature blanket. Eevee let out another satisfied cry.
Yun continued to daydream.
"Bui?"
Eevee tilted its head in confusion at the dazed Yun.
"Ah, it's nothing," Yun chuckled, stroking Eevee's head. "I was just wondering when you'll grow up and actually wear that as a proper scarf."
Due to being newly born, Eevee was curious about everything and full of energy. Yun didn't restrict its movement and followed it around, explaining everything as they went.
Lamps, mirrors, fridge, TV… Even these most mundane objects could amuse Eevee for a long time. Seeing Eevee so happy filled Yun with joy. Spending time with this little creature made him feel youthful again—even though he was only sixteen...
"Hungry? I've got some milk ready for you."
After playing for a while, Eevee started showing signs of fatigue. It was impressive it had so much energy right after hatching. At that moment, Yun brought out the already-warmed milk. Even from a distance, Eevee caught a whiff of it and eagerly showed anticipation.
"Come, take it easy while drinking…"
Placing the milk container on the table and picking up Eevee, Yun gently reminded it.
"Bui~~"
Eevee blinked and eagerly jumped to the table, moving close to the container. But just as it was about to drink, it suddenly looked up at Yun with pleading eyes and nudged the container toward him.
"Bui?"
Yun scratched his head, unsure what it meant at first. After thinking, he asked, "You want me to drink it first?"
"Bui! Bui~" Eevee nodded vigorously.
"It's fine, I've got plenty. This one's for you."
Yun's heart melted. He rubbed Eevee's head again, touched by its thoughtful gesture, and couldn't stop smiling.
Only then did Eevee lower its head and begin enjoying the high-quality Miltank milk.
Gulp… gulp…
As it drank, a blissful expression spread across Eevee's face: (๑¯∀¯๑)
Clearly, the milk's deliciousness had completely won over the little one.
A big bowl of milk—just the right amount of nutrition for a newborn Eevee—was gone in a single sitting.
But then came the awkward part. After playing and now full, Eevee quickly grew drowsy and began to doze off…
Yun shook his head with a sigh, wiped Eevee's mouth, then carefully picked it up. He laid it on the bed, wrapped it up with the silk scarf like a blanket.
In its sleep, Eevee seemed to be having a sweet dream. It rolled over and snugly tucked itself inside the scarf, a satisfied smile spreading across its face as it continued sleeping…
Yun swore, he was instantly won over by Eevee.
He now felt incredibly lucky for choosing this little Eevee as his starter Pokémon.
With Eevee asleep, Yun quietly sat at his desk after watching over it for a long while.
At this point, he should have started studying… but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get Eevee's image out of his head, eagerly waiting for it to wake up.
"You're so hopeless," he muttered to himself, then pulled out a recipe sheet.
Right now, Eevee is still in its newborn phase.
Three bowls of Miltank milk per day would be enough—for about three days.
After that, some solid food could be introduced. By the end of the week, the recipe would need to be updated again.
Yun had prepared various ingredients: vegetables, fruits, porridge, even some meat…
This diet plan was designed to help Eevee smoothly transition through its newborn stage and build a strong foundation. Yun had invested quite a lot for this—his personal savings were nearly gone.
"I've never been this particular even about my own meals… and I still have to cook myself…" Yun complained, half-truthfully.
