One month passed significantly, and the new life that Kalina was living felt heavy. Every day there was something that always made her buzz strange words in her mind.
About Zaki, the state of the house, to Kanaya's condition, raising assumptions that were increasingly soaring.
Strangeness after strangeness began to be felt, regarding Zaki's attitude towards Kalina, aka Kanaya. The man seemed fine when Arum and Airuz were near his child.
However, when they were alone, Zaki's cold attitude was clearly shown. Kalina didn't know who the man was.
"Mommy and Daddy have to return to the country, Honey. You are fine here, don't worry, Zaki is always looking after you," said Arum, rubbing her cheek gently.
"Daddy and Mommy have a business to complete. After we are finished, we will go home immediately. We also hope for good news from you two," continued Airuz, glancing at Zaki who was embracing his wife affectionately, as if saying we expect grandchildren.
Kalina also understood what she had just said.
This couple had been married for years, but they had not been blessed with children. Whatever happened, Kalina had not received an answer and other strange things were getting worse.
"Mommy and Daddy, don't worry. I will take good care of Kanaya here, too… hopefully, the good news that Dad and Mom want will come soon," Zaki added, giving sky-high hopes.
Airuz and Arum glanced at each other, bright smiles spread across their old faces. They were very happy, hoping to get the good news soon.
"Okay, Mommy and Daddy will be waiting for it. Take good care of yourselves," Arum said again, diving into her child's blue eyes.
"Um, be careful, come home safely." That was all Kalina could say.
She couldn't express herself about someone's departure. Once again, this wasn't her life, so acting sad was useless.
"We'll go first, Daddy entrusts Kanaya to you, Zaki." Airuz patted his son-in-law's shoulder firmly, and Zaki just nodded in agreement.
The two middle-aged men got into the car and took them to the airport. A wave accompanied their departure, and Kalina's feelings were mixed up instantly.
Whatever she felt right now, everything couldn't be described clearly.
"Let's go back inside."
A baritone voice brought her back to her senses, who knows since when Zaki let go of his embrace on her shoulder, Kalina didn't feel his movement because she was so carried away by emotion.
She glanced to her right, and Zaki looked away without saying a word. Kalina's wide forehead frowned at her husband's constantly changing attitude.
"Why is he again? Does he not like his in-laws leaving? Or vice versa?" Kalina muttered watching him leave.
***
Since noon, Kalina spent time until evening in her room. She didn't care where Zaki went after eating together.
She didn't want to know and interfere in the man's affairs. After living together for a month, Kalina was indifferent to Kanaya's marriage to Zaki.
During that month, Kalina also tried to find out how Kanaya lived. Although it wasn't easy, she tried to keep up so that they wouldn't be too suspicious.
"Now I just have to focus on finding out who Kanaya is," Kalina determined, once again.
She got up from the sofa and went to a room next to the bedroom. There she saw Kanaya and Zaki's wardrobes side by side.
She then opened both wardrobe doors and found the clothes she usually wore lately.
Her clear blue eyes scanned the items there one by one. However, there was nothing suspicious, the clothes were very normal.
She closed it again, turned back, and saw a small wardrobe where Kanaya and Zaki's accessories were.
There was Kanaya's jewelry, Zaki's famous brand watch, and so on, very pleasing to the eye.
Even though she had lived there for a month, this was the first time Kalina paid attention to all the belongings of the body she was occupying.
One by one she scanned closely, but still nothing suspicious. Until she crouched down and found a small safe underneath.
Her eyebrows knitted together when she found the safe locked. "What is this? Why is there a safe in a place like this?" she chattered as she carried the item into her arms.
She turned the safe over and over again looking for clues to open it. Kalina then entered some random numbers, pressing the buttons randomly.
It didn't open. The second to fifth attempts still failed. Kalina was furious and roughly put the safe on the floor.
"Argh! Damn, I don't know how to open it," Kalina cursed, emotionally.
A flash of an idea came into her head, Kalina hugged the safe again and took it to her main room.
She stood right in front of the wedding picture, her eyes rolling here and there observing every curve.
Until Kalina's attention was drawn to the right corner where Kanaya was standing. Six numbers caught her attention.
Without thinking, Kalina immediately tried the numbers to open the safe. Who would have thought that the numbers were the code to open it?
"Kanaya, was your wedding day very memorable? To the point of being used as a code for this valuable item?" Kalina said, snorting, in disbelief.
Kalina then opened it and found a jet-black diary complete with several photos draped over it.
Kalina was surprised, it was unusual for rich people to keep diaries and photos in a safe. Usually, they would hide valuables, such as gold, savings books, or jewelry at fantastic prices.
"Kanaya, you are a woman who is difficult to guess," she continued.
However, before Kalina had time to read and see the photos, she suddenly heard the sound of sturdy footsteps approaching.
She hurriedly put the book and the photos into the safe. She hid it in the nightstand drawer and tried to stay calm.
Not long after, the bedroom door was opened roughly, Kalina was surprised when she found Zaki coming. His facial expression showed very strong dislike and hatred.
"Zaki-"
Her words stopped when Zaki immediately grabbed her soft object. The kiss happened so fast that Kalina's eyes widened.
Her heart was beating fast, this was the first time she had felt such a deep kiss. Until Zaki threw her onto the bed.
Kalina was very surprised when Zaki pinned her on both sides.
"What are you doing?" Kalina asked, her breath gasping.
However, instead of answering, Zaki grabbed Kalina's face. The pain from the man's rough treatment made her stunned.
"You should be dead! Why did you wake up again, damn it? Why didn't you just die?"
A deep voice full of hatred thundered, Kalina was shocked, her body froze watching the glare like an eagle preying on its prey.
Zaki's attitude had completely changed now, he was not like the man yesterday who treated her well, when the mistress and the master were at home.
"W-what did you say?" Kalina asked, surprised.
"You should just die, Kanaya!"
The word die seemed to prove that Zaki had never played the role of a good husband. Kalina immediately got the answer, regarding Kanaya's husband's attitude that felt strange lately.
"Ah~ so, this man shows his fangs too? So he's a man like this? Tch, how ridiculous," she muttered to herself.
"You should die, damn it! Die! Die! Die!"
Zaki kept saying the same word over and over again, Kalina remained calm and didn't reply at all.
