Chapter 16 - Siren - Chapter 16

One year went by with Demian helping Wendy develop her capabilities.

He knew her power could be used effectively to obtain anything.

And they continued working together.

For several months, Demian devoted himself to fighting through the underworld—not to clean up the streets, but to dominate them. Every gang and criminal empire would be forced to obey him.

Those who refused faced two choices:

Be killed by his hand…

Or have their darkest secrets uncovered by Wendy, and exposed to the world.

It wasn't just the fear of death that kept them in line.

It was the fear of total ruin.

The fear of losing their power, their image, their control.

Demian, however, knew they could go one level further. They could rise not only within criminal society, but with Wendy's power, they could manipulate the part of society that didn't need to hide. She could dominate businessmen, politicians, artists, influencers, and people involved with new technologies.

And with detailed notes about anyone's future, they could climb the social ladder by exploiting their weaknesses and insecurities.

But to do that, they needed to find the right place; it had to be a place filled with valuable targets.

That's when Wendy decided to enroll in Ravenport's largest university.

The college was big and famous, being the home to students and professors of all types and areas.

It was a breeding ground for future influencers, leaders, scientists, and politicians, and could even fall into the world of magic.

They were people who might one day become threats to both her and Demian.

After all, they were powerful… and power always attracts opposition.

"I want you to keep an eye on everyone," Demian said, looking at Wendy.

"Yes, Master. I'll do my best," she replied, already studying to pass the entrance exam.

Studying wasn't really important in the grand scheme, but she couldn't just use her power to cheat—there was always the risk of being discovered.

So, at least a little effort was necessary.

Just enough to blend in.

"You're a good girl," Demian said.

Wendy smiled brightly. She never quite got used to being praised, but it was a truly good feeling that she cherished every time.

"Thank you, Master," she replied, then turned her focus back to the pile of books and notes in front of her.

Using her power to see people's futures during the exam, she knew exactly who to copy from, and with her own studying, she easily passed with a good enough score.

And just like that, she joined the same class as Renan.

During her time at the university, she spent more time taking notes about everyone around her than actually studying.

It didn't take long for her to earn the nickname "the weird girl," due to the way she often stared at people like a stalker, sometimes even following a few around.

But she wasn't just watching for no reason.

She knew who would succeed and who would fail in life.

Every detail she learned was passed on to Demian, who began targeting those individuals, blackmailing them with any critical information Wendy could uncover.

Things were going well.

Everything should have been perfect.

But with each passing night, Wendy could see it more clearly—Demian's end was near.

She felt it deep within her visions, a creeping certainty that the path they had taken together was slowly sealing the fate of the only person she had ever truly cared about.

"Master… I'm afraid you're going to die," she said softly one night, her voice barely a whisper.

But Demian was too confident.

For two years, they had dealt with everything that came their way.

They had crushed enemies, manipulated powerful people, and built an empire in the shadows.

"You don't need to worry," the vampire said. He had grown even more powerful during that time.

"But..." she replied, her voice trembling with fear.

"You keep saying you see an aura of death around me. But it's been there since the moment we met, hasn't it?"

She nodded slightly.

"Then what you're seeing isn't my future. It's the future of anyone foolish enough to mess with the king and queen of Ravenport," he said with a smirk, pressing a kiss to Wendy's lips and making her blush deeply.

"Now I have to go…

Whoever that little bastard is out there, attacking my men in the streets, he's going to pay."

Demian had heard rumors of a monster roaming the city at night, one that looked like a vampire, targeting gang members.

He leapt from the apartment balcony, vanishing into the dark, leaving Wendy behind.

Demian never returned.

From that night on, Wendy was alone.

"I'm sorry," Renan said after hearing the entire story... He had never imagined that Demian could have meant so much to someone.

"It's okay," Wendy replied, wiping the tears from her face with her hand.

"I have you now… and you carry a part of him inside you," she said with a soft smile.
