Chapter 11 - CERA//ROYA

Approximately 12 years ago, on the surface of the world above Averune, multiple families stood, witnessing the era of Resurgence. Due to a lack of strength from a virus that spread throughout the world, countless people had died, weakening the clans strength in numbers. As a result, hundreds upon thousands of children were born over the years, effectively bringing the clan's numbers back to their prime state.

One of the families, the Malvez, were one of the strongest in the country, their elemental abilities unlike no other. They primarily focused on their wind as their primary element, but a certain few had taught themselves to create their own sub-abilities, which is what eventually led to a birth. The birth of misfortune. FRIDAY 13TH, APRIL, 2007.

CERA MALVEZ WAS BORN.

As a child, Cera was quiet. He wore bandages often because that's what made him comfortable. Little did he know, this would develop is affinity with paper. He simply sat on a bench at school, alone. That's how he spent most of his days. Nobody thought like him, nobody saw like him, nobody felt...like him. It was always weird for him to try and fit in with others due to the fact that he just stood out. His white hair was constantly tied up in a bun, his dark blue eyes glistening like a dark ocean, an infinite gaze that nobody could swim through without drowning.

But today, it was different. A girl who looked around the same age as him had sat down. For a while, they both remained silent, Cera eating his food, and the girl trying to get a glimpse of his face. After his meal was finished, he sighed, looking down as he muttered,

"Why..are you sitting next to me...I'm just..nobody." He sighed, looking over at the girl who seemed to be wearing shades, despite it being cloudy outside.

"Because I can tell that you're just like me. My name's Roya. Roya Celia." She smiled. Cera looked at her, holding his hand out.

"My name's Cera...Cera Malvez...Nice to meet you." He spoke with a bit of restraint. However, she didn't care. She lent her hand out to him as they both stood up. With a mutual agreement with each other, they became best friends. Both exiled from society as its flaws, they bonded and got closer together. They went out almost every day, shared food and drinks, told stories to each other, and had one place that they both shared deeply. Beyond the forest stood an illuminated sight, a field of flowers with an empty patch of ground where they both used to sit together. Most of their conversations took place here, and they laughed until the night came. They had even shared each others birthdays. But one day...the energy had shifted.

Cera's voice was different. It was deeper, like he was restraining himself. With every conversation, there was a slight wince of pain that would appear on his face every few minutes. Roya saw through every twitch, knowing something was wrong. As they continued speaking, she saw his face twitch again as he took a slight breath out. Roya looked at him, glancing up and down as she stared at him, cutting him off.

"So, all I wanted to do wa-"

"There's something wrong."

"Hm??"

"There's something wrong. You think I can't notice it, but I can.."

"What do you mean, Roya??" Cera spoke, looking at her. Roya slowly tried reaching for his wrist, but noticing Cera hesitated, she quickly grabbed them, feeling a liquid seeping on her palms. As she slowly took her hands off the bandages, she looked in shock at her hand, covered in red. Her eye twitched as Cera looked at her, losing the light in his eyes. With such a dark gaze, all she could do was stand up, already seeing him leaving at a fast pace. She had to catch up. She had no idea what he would do.

"CERA! WHAT ARE YOU ABOUT TO DO?!" She shouted, his legs slowing down, coming to a slow stop. She felt a piercing gaze. His dark face glaring at her, his face smeared with his own blood as he continued walking. If there was one thing Roya could take from that interaction, it's that this wasn't Cera. She quickly started running after him, the droplets of blood tracing behind him gave a clear insight on where exactly he was heading to - where it had all began.

Within a few minutes, they were already at the Malvez estate. With a silhouette standing in front of the large doors. Cera came to a slow pause, Roya standing next to him. The man laughed, looking at Cera's bleeding body with a smirk burning on his face.

"Awwwww, little Malvez got a few little scratches!! DO YOU NEED SOMEBODY TO HEAL YOU, MONSTER?" He shouted with arrogance before he blinked, noticing Cera had already disappeared. His neck felt awkward...like he had a papercut...With a touch of his neck, he felt the blood suddenly rush, Cera's dead face staring directly at him without a care in the world. He then walked into the estate himself, Roya quickly following.

"If they value their lives...they'll apologize." Cera muttered under his breath before sprinting around with his paper blade. Due to his current weightless property, he was able to move at immense speeds, which allowed for an easier experience of his slaughter. Roya looked at him in shock, but also realized that this is what he had to do. The Malvez had caused pan to each member in the clan. His goal was to end their suffering, and his own. A move on from the past.

Within the 5 minutes of murder, Cera had landed again, the head of the Malvez walking out with a gun, immediately firing at Cera, who dodged all the attacks using his paper to phase through them. With a quick action, he grabbed Roya, spreading his wings as he flew her into the air. The man immediately launched himself into the air, creating an airborne fight. Cera looked back at Roya, speeding over to a distant battlefield as he quickly landed, kicking his leg against the rock, creating a force that allowed him to slow down. He slowly dropped Roya and leapt out onto the dirt.

"You'll be safe from this distance. Just let me deal with this myself." He spoke, his voice empty. He watched the clan head crash onto the battlefield, immediately zooming towards him, creating a powerful clash. Due to Cera's properties, he was too light to win in the clash, fluttering into sheets of paper that covered the clan head, creating sharp paper needles that pierced into him, kicking him back, forming back into his human body. He then started applying his regular weight to his body, using his legs to boost himself, launching a hit on the clan head, who quickly countered it, slamming Cera to the ground with his foot, continuously stomping on him, hoping to break a few bones.

"YOU!- MONSTER!- DON'T..EVER...TRY..MESSING...WITH...ME...AGAIN!!" He shouted, taking staggering breaths within each word. Once he ran out of energy, he saw Cera's mangled body on the ground, his body twitching, showered in blood. Roya stared, trying to run, but she didn't want to attract the clan head's attention. But her thoughts were conflicting. She had all the chances to save Cera...and the opportunity was a sheet of paper that flew past. She knew she could move as fast as Cera could, she'd just need a stronger reaction time. With a deep breath, she threw her shades into the air, her eyes glistening a bright colour as she blitzed directly to the man.

"With the help of Cera...I'LL KILL THE MAN THAT'S STANDING BEFORE ME!!" She thought in her head as she pierced through the man's chest with the paper blade, taking a final breath, clutching onto the blade as she continued pushing it through, pushing with all of her might. If there was one thing that Cera could thank her for, it would be for this. She couldn't let the fleeting moment fade. The burst of energy that the man emitted was powerful, but Roya kept her ground, gritting her teeth as her hair violently fought against the wind. Holding onto her courage, she continued to push, feeling a surge of power coming from within her soul, giving her enough strength to break her limit, fully stabbing into the clan head, creating a large dust explosion that blew all 3 of them away.

With her heavy eyelids, Roya looked at Cera's body, then looked at the clan head's corpse. She weakly crawled towards Cera's body, holding onto it as she passed out. With a gust of wind, a figure had appeared in the sky, looking down at the two of them.

"Hmmm....The Malvez have been killed. By a kid. That's definitely something."
