Chapter 4195: Corpse Poison

Qiao Mu didn't want to talk to him and immediately turned her head away.

"None of your business," Mo Lian retorted grumpily, pulling his little wife's hand and heading towards the City Lord's Mansion.

Hades scoffed, then quickly followed. "Did you, you rascal, make her angry?"

"Shut up," Mo Lian glared back at him. He initially didn't want to engage, but his gaze swept over the group of elderly, weak, and sick people following Hades. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and ask, "Have these people been thoroughly checked? Can you confirm they aren't infected with corpse poison?"

The remaining people would certainly need to be evacuated. If there were uncontrolled individuals in the group who could mutate at any time, things would become difficult. After all, they couldn't constantly monitor so many people, and oversights were inevitable. Once chaos erupted again, it would only affect the most vulnerable—the ordinary people with no cultivation.

Hades, unwilling to speak much with Mo Lian, snorted at his question and retorted, "Who can guarantee it? At this point, we can only take it one step at a time."

"I have a kind of medicinal liquid," Qiao Mu suddenly spoke up. "We can try it."

Hades turned to look at her, his eyes suddenly lighting up. "Are you talking to me?"

Mo Lian chuckled dismissively at Hades, then pulled Qiao Mu and turned to leave, asking her softly, "What do we need to prepare?"

Fifteen minutes later, all the rescued people stood in front of the City Lord's Mansion. There were over ten thousand civilians, each looking utterly exhausted. Hades ordered his men to arrange these ordinary people into orderly lines. In front of them, ten-odd washbasins were neatly arranged. Inside them was a clear, shimmering green medicinal liquid, appearing very transparent and bright with a gentle hue.

"Now, everyone in the first row, step forward and wash your hands in the basin."

A row of people nervously stepped forward, knelt down, and placed their hands in the basins. They felt a gentle current flow through their palms and instantly felt a slight invigoration. In less than two seconds, Hades had them move to the back.

Though the onlookers didn't understand what was happening, they vaguely realized that if nothing went wrong while they washed their hands, they could stand behind these cultivators, in a safe place. Everyone approached with a mix of panic and apprehension, then batches of them were led back behind Qiao Mu and the others, excitedly reforming their ranks.

Suddenly, in the third basin, the originally vibrant green, shallow medicinal liquid violently churned, a strange blackness emerging from its depths. The guards, who had been standing intently on either side, instantly changed color and brandished their sharp blades.

The old woman kneeling in front of the basin was clearly startled by their actions. Her legs gave out, and she knelt on the ground, one hand tightly clutching a child about five or six years old. Startled by the commotion, the child immediately burst into loud sobs.

Qiao Mu quickly approached, waved her hand for the two guards with swords to step back, her eyes filled with complex emotions as she stared at the old woman.

"Isolate them first."

The old woman looked back at her in a panic, crying out, "What are you going to do? You, you are bullying good citizens!"

Qiao Mu gently shook her head, her voice faint as she said, "Not her; it's the child."

Everyone present was taken aback.
