After they chose a quest, the two of them started going into the dark forest where the monsters live.
"Akarui, why did you want to go on a quest with me? I'm new here and I have a low level. I may get in the way and get the two of us killed," asked Kenji curiously.
"I wanted to go on an easy quest for some money, and since you were new, I thought helping you would be great. And we should become great friends!" said Akarui, smiling.
"Yeah, I think we will be great friends too."
"So, do you want to kill most of the monsters and level up, or do you want me to take care of them?" Asked Akarui with a smile.
"I'm planning on killing the most monsters so I'll level up and get stronger. After all, I'm new here and need to get stronger."
"Of course! That works for me!" Akarui said, looking at Kenji's eyes.
After that, the forest got darker and darker. There weren't many sounds of animals anymore. It was... silent.
"We're almost there! I've been here so many times and know the place very well. This must be your first time here, right Kenji?"
"Yeah, this is my first time in this place." Kenji said.
Before they knew it, a group of Gimons appeared in front of them. There were fifteen, surrounding them.
"Do you know how to fight them? Will you be fine? If you want help, just ask me I'll be always glad to help you! After all this is your first time."
"I'll be fine. I have some experience from somewhere."
Kenji started to fight the Gimons with the sword he got from the guild. Now that he had a sword, he was much stronger. Even though they were level 5, he was able to kill them easily because of his experience in his world.
He moved the sword as if he had trained for a long time, and Akarui was so surprised to see that he was this strong—even though he was just level 2.
He was able to defeat 12 of the Gimons in a slash, without needing help.
"Wow, you're so good for level 2! How is that possible? You need to be much higher level," Akarui said, surprised by his movements.
"I never fought monsters, though I did train to get stronger," Kenji immediately said.
Then, the same system appeared once again in front of his face, saying:
[Level 3 Unlocked]
He was surprised to see the same thing again. Then, new writing showed up:
[New Spell Acquired: Water Ball]
What's this now? I thought you can only level up here... Does this mean I can use many kind of spells? Kenji didn't expect this to happen.
"Akarui, what's this spell I just got?... I thought you can only level up here?"
"Oh wait, you really didn't know that you can get spells by killing new and strong monsters?" asked Akarui, surprised.
"No, I didn't. I thought you can only get levels and not spells..."
"Well, by each monster, you get new spells. Most of the spells you can get are water spells, and the lowest-level monsters give you those spells.
Next are earth spells, which are also spells everyone has. Then wind and fire. Fire is the rarest to have.
And the one spell no one was able to get is the Shadow spell."
"So, by killing monsters, you get spells? That's interesting. And why has no one gotten Shadow spells?"
"It's because only the highest-level monsters have them. You need to kill a monster that is level 95 to get that spell. And for that, you yourself need to be level 95 or more—and no one has gotten close to that level."
"Ohh... so no one's reached that level? I see..." Kenji said, wondering if he could get close if he trained more and more.
Another small group of Gimons appeared, and this time Akarui wanted to take them down. He had a gold sword and was strong, and since the Gimons were 5 levels lower than him, it was super easy for him.
After they killed all the Gimons, they headed back to the guild to get the money for the monsters they defeated.
Since Kenji killed more than needed, he was supposed to get more money.
On the way to the guild, they saw a small kid crying near the forest.
Akarui saw the kid there all alone, crying, and quickly ran to him.
"What's wrong? Why are you crying? Where are your parents? This is a dangerous place. You should go home."
"I'm lost... I was playing with my friends and they ran somewhere. I didn't see them and tried to find them, but got lost. Please help me," the kid said, crying.
"Sure, come with us. We can help. Just tell me where you live," Akarui said, hoping the kid knew.
"I live near an armor shop. I should know where to go once I see the shop."
"I know just the shop! Come with us!We can help you!"
They took the small kid and left the dark forest. After a while, they found the armor shop and the kid got home safely.
Kenji was kind of surprised how nice Akarui was with the kid—and was happy to have met such a good friend.
They went inside the guild and got the money for the quest they just completed.
So now I have 45 dollars for killing more than needed.I'll still need to go on another quest to get more money so I can buy the sword I was looking for... he thought.
The guild had rooms for adventurers to stay, so they didn't need to rent one. For that, Kenji felt lucky.
After his first quest, he felt like he needed to train more—so he could go on harder quests and get stronger.
Stronger...
So he could finally buy that black sword he saw in the Sword shop
