Adam declared that Arthur would now be handling the business affairs of the Fun Land, mall, and theatre. He instructed Arthur to work closely with his father, Albert, who possessed valuable business strategies beyond what Arthur might have learned from books. This collaboration would give Albert more free time for his potion research.
Adam then told his mother, Helena, that Leon could assist her with anything she needed, provided she gave precise instructions, highlighting Leon's ability to duplicate himself and his power. Leon simply nodded and smiled when Alyssa and Alynna cheekily asked him to play with them the next day.
Albert and Helena shared news about the influx of visitors to Damarsh. Nobles from neighboring kingdoms had been visiting, seeking an audience with Adam. They had been informed that Adam was out of the kingdom and his return date uncertain, so some might still be staying at the grand hotel. Adam was now a household name and a celebrity. As more visitors flocked to the attractions, positive reviews poured in, drawing even more attention to the mysterious inventor, Adam.
The Kirin Horn and a Sudden Disappearance
After dinner, Adam asked Helena to meet with Emily later to try and help her remember her past. In their room, Helena sat beside Emily, preparing to place both their hands on Adam's heart. A bright light emerged, just as before, but this time, Emily wasn't overwhelmed.
"Do you remember?" Adam asked. Emily heard voices, faint echoes of her past self speaking, but it was vague, nothing clear. They tried again, but still nothing. Adam, seeing it as slight progress, asked Helena how she had summoned the Kirin.
Helena confessed that she hadn't actually summoned the Kirin. She had been overcome with emotion about Adam's past in the old world, a wave of betrayal and anger consuming her as she thought of her sister. The Kirin's appearance, she believed, might have been a coincidence.
Adam remembered the Kirin horn. He took it out, but it remained inert. He handed it to Helena to see if there was any reaction; still nothing. He then passed the horn to Emily.
The moment Emily held the horn, she felt a sudden familiar feeling. The horn began to glow and break down into particles, surrounding Emily. Lyra's neuro-link immediately registered a mana fluctuation of Kirin energy surrounding Emily, which began fusing with her own mana. Emily felt a surge of energy, and then, she suddenly disappeared on the spot!
Adam was shocked. Lyra noted that Emily's mana signature had vanished from this world. Panicked, Adam asked Lyra to connect him to the Above, but their connection failed.
Back in the Old World
Meanwhile, Emily found herself transported to her old house. Though she wasn't sure why, an instinct urged her to go in. She opened the door and instinctively called out, "I'm home!" Footsteps rushed down, and Emily's parents stood face to face with their grown-up daughter. Emily's appearance had reverted to her old self, albeit at an older age.
"Is that you, Emily?" her mother asked, tears welling up. Emily, hearing someone call her by that name, knew these must be her parents from the old world. She realized she had been transported back. "Yes," she replied, "I'm your daughter."
Both parents hugged Emily tightly, weeping with joy over their daughter's miraculous return. Emily felt a profound sense of belonging, her eyes tearing up, feeling a love and longing for them even though she couldn't remember them fully.
As things slowly calmed down, her parents led Emily to the living room and asked how she had returned. Emily explained that she couldn't remember them exactly, but that she didn't truly belong in this world anymore.
She spoke of her current life, how she met Adam, and how he told her about this other world, and how she recognized the name Emily. Both parents were amazed by everything Emily shared, accepting it all as a second chance to be with their daughter again. Emily began to ask about her life in the old world, and her parents patiently helped her piece together her past.
Slowly, images of her life with them began to emerge. "Mom," Emily whispered, looking at her mother. "Dad," she said, looking at her father. She remembered them all, her memories of them flooding back. She rushed to hug them both, successfully unlocking her memories of her parents.
Yet, Emily still wondered why she couldn't remember anything about Adam. Her parents then told her about how she and Adam had grown up together, that Adam was her childhood friend and the one she always talked about. They had spent so much time together, but still, she couldn't remember him.
