Just as Adam began to get re-situated in his old world, his body in the other world vanished. The family was shocked and heartbroken by his disappearance, Alyssa and Alynna tearing up and clinging to their parents, fearing Adam was gone forever.
Lyra, however, quickly reassured them, urging them to hold onto hope. She promised to figure out what happened and to try to reconnect with him.
A Kirin then appeared before them, placing its horn on Lyra's forehead. A bright light enveloped the room, and suddenly, Lyra was able to connect to Adam's mind.
Adam, receiving Lyra's panicked neuro-link, assured her that he was fine and was currently back in the old world. He hadn't died, but had merely returned to his original body, which had been in a coma. He told her that Emily was with him and he was staying with her family.
Adam asked Lyra to tell the rest of the family to continue living their lives, and that if he could find a way back, he would return with Emily. The Kirin then vanished, leaving Lyra with a sense of relief mixed with a tinge of jealousy.
Lyra relayed everything to the family. Albert and Helena were shocked but immensely relieved that Adam had survived and woken from his coma. Knowing Adam was safe with Emily and her family, they felt a profound sense of peace. Albert rallied everyone, urging them to keep living for Adam, ensuring that when he returned, they would be a family he could be proud of.
Everyone smiled and nodded, rededicating themselves to their lives for Adam's sake.
Lyra felt a deep ache at losing Adam and the constant connection they once shared. A wave of mixed emotions washed over her: relief for his safety, yet profound sadness that she couldn't be with him as before. This feeling of being alone for the first time made her heart ache, and she realized it was her first experience of truly missing someone.
A New Reality
Adam felt better knowing his family in the other world could move on. Now, he was back with Emily, contemplating their new situation. Emily asked Adam if he felt different in the old world. Adam confirmed he still retained his powers, but there was a significant issue: this world lacked mana.
His reliance on absorbing mana from his surroundings made it impossible to fully utilize his abilities. Emily understood, knowing his mana needed to be conserved.
Emily, however, was at a higher level than Adam, so her mana reserves were sufficient for her to use her powers. Adam, still at Level 1 with minimal mana capacity, was effectively living like a normal human.
The dynamics had completely flipped: Adam was now back in the old world, while Emily was the otherworlder. The irony of the situation made Adam laugh, recalling his pursuit of Emily in the other world.
Emily, pinching his face, playfully chided him, "Since you're healthy enough to think of all that, why not put your energy into learning how to walk again?"
Adam currently in a wheelchair, needing to regain strength in his legs. Emily, due to her mana and strength, had no issue carrying him.
After dinner, Emily carried Adam into her room, clearly prepared to "torture" him. Adam was shocked by her daring nature, now that her memories had returned. Emily, visibly annoyed that Adam hadn't taken care of himself despite her dying wish, was determined to make him pay for the hurt he'd caused her. With a smirk, she closed the door.
Emily then ran her fingers through Adam's body, then playfully grabbed his privates.
"Did anything happen between you and Lyra while I was away?" she whispered, her eyes narrowed. Adam, unable to escape in his weakened state, mentally succumbed to the questioning.
