Chapter 8 - Wealth Stirs Hearts

Rin and Kuroro were currently in a village named Yuki no Mura.

The houses in this village were closely situated, different from the scattered layout of the village where Rin lived.

As they walked, Rin thought about Haku's past experiences from the anime, sighing lightly, and he couldn't help but have a poor opinion of the people in this village.

Although it wasn't clear why his uncle, who seemed to care so much for his aunt and Haku, would later join the villagers in killing them,

The reason seemed to be that Haku unintentionally revealed her Kekkei Genkai abilities.

Even her father, Eiji, feared this terrifying power that belonged to ninjas.

However, the decision to kill his wife and Haku was likely due to the villagers' coercion and threats.

Even in modern, civilized society, people often reject those who are different from the majority.

Let alone in such a backward and closed-off village.

If Eiji wanted to survive, he had to stand with the majority.

Perhaps when he was forced to kill his wife and daughter by the villagers, he deeply regretted revealing the secret.

Of course, this was just Rin's speculation.

But since he was here, he couldn't let such a tragedy happen again.

Although he had a kind heart, he was not naively good.

Just as Kuroro killed innocent people to take care of him,

Rin felt sorrow for the innocent victims and was willing to pay some price to ease his conscience.

But if someone tried to punish Kuroro for it, Rin would be the first to stand up and resist.

Human nature is ultimately complex and self-serving...

"Hey, Kuroro, where do you plan to stay?"

Rin glanced at Kuroro and asked softly.

At this moment, they were standing at the entrance of the village, surrounded by villagers who were busy with chores but were secretly watching the two strangers with wary eyes.

Hearing Rin's question, Kuroro glanced at him calmly and said,

"The closest place to you."

Although he agreed to let Rin stay at Eiji's house, Kuroro was still worried about Rin's safety and couldn't stay too far from him.

Rin scratched his head, feeling a bit helpless, and shrugged.

"Then we'll have to start by asking around Uncle's house. Do you have enough money on you?"

Kuroro pulled out a bag of money he had taken from the pharmacy owner, shaking it slightly to make it jingle.

"It should be enough."

Rin nodded and then headed towards a house near Eiji's home, speaking softly.

"Don't worry, you'll just have to put up with living alone for a while."

"I plan to rebuild and expand Uncle's house later so that there will be enough room for a few more people. Then you can move in with us."

Kuroro was slightly taken aback but nodded quietly.

As they walked, Rin seemed hesitant but finally spoke softly.

"Um... Kuroro..."

Kuroro turned to look at Rin's young face, his eyes calm.

"I already know what kind of world we're in."

Rin looked ahead, sighing lightly, and said softly.

"It's dangerous."

"Even if your Nen abilities hadn't disappeared, it would still be dangerous."

Turning his head slowly, Rin looked into Kuroro's eyes and said seriously.

"In this world, there are beings called ninjas. They're somewhat like Nen users, capable of using all sorts of strange techniques."

"Even with your former strength,

It would be difficult to deal with the top ninjas." He finished, walking forward while Kuroro pondered his words.

Ninjas who can use strange techniques...

Something that makes Rin feel threatened...

These kinds of people must be guarded against...

It seems necessary to let Rin start training in Nen as soon as possible...

Thinking this, Kuroro lowered his head slightly, glancing at his chest area.

There, near his heart, an invisible arrow remained, restricting his Nen abilities.

Unfortunately... being sealed off from my powers means I can only watch as Rin worries...

Clenching his fist slightly, Kuroro followed Rin to a house behind Eiji's home.

"Excuse me, is the owner of the house home?"

Rin wrapped himself tightly in his cloak, peeking into the house and calling out in a child's voice.

"Bang—"

After a while, a rough noise came from the door.

A disheveled man stepped out, his expression unfriendly. He glanced at Kuroro, then at Rin, and snapped.

"What is it, kid? What do you want?"

Despite the man's impatient tone, Rin didn't get angry. Instead, he smiled and said,

"Is your house available for rent? Or if you'd like to sell it, we can offer a good price."

Hearing this, the man's expression darkened further, his voice rough.

"Where did a brat like you come from, trying to fool me? Get lost before I make you regret it!"

Glancing warily at Kuroro, the man mumbled a few curses and prepared to go back inside.

Rin knew that it was a bit inappropriate to ask someone to sell their house right away.

He didn't get angry but quickly took the money pouch from Kuroro, shaking it and speaking loudly.

"I'm not fooling you, I really want to buy the house. Look, we have the money ready!"

Hearing the sound of money, the man stopped in his tracks.

Turning back with a look of uncertainty, he stared at Rin and asked.

"How much are you offering?"

Rin thought for a moment, pulling out five notes worth 20,000 ryo each and said softly.

"100,000 ryo should be enough to buy your house. We need to move in tonight."

For a simple house in an ordinary village, this price was quite generous.

"100,000 ryo!?"

The man's face showed obvious shock, his voice stuttering.

"Enough... No! Not enough! My house is worth more than that!"

Rin, hearing this, smiled slightly, turning to leave and said softly.

"Okay, I'll look elsewhere. Others might be willing to sell."

Seeing Rin turn to leave, the man panicked and quickly came out, rushing to Rin.

"Wait... wait, okay! You said you need to move in tonight, right!"

"No problem, 100,000 ryo, I'll sell the house to you!"

Rin didn't hesitate, handing over the money and taking the deed, while the man accepted the money with a delighted expression.

"Now that the deal is done, please pack your things quickly. We need to move in tonight."

Rin said softly to the man.

The man nodded, indicating he would move out quickly.

Rin and Kuroro then left.

"Phew, now that the housing issue is settled, let's head back."

"Oh, and Kuroro, Haku has ninja talent. Maybe you could observe her."

Rin said, glancing at Kuroro.

Hearing this, Kuroro was slightly surprised and asked.

"You mean that child?"

Rin nodded, his eyes calm as he spoke softly.

"A power called Kekkei Genkai, inherited from ancestors. Even among ninjas, it's a rare talent."

"Perhaps you can study that power to understand the strength of this world."

Kuroro nodded, his expression calm.

"That is quite interesting. Just a three-year-old child inheriting such abilities from ancestors..."

"Maybe it's worth studying..."

As they spoke, the two walked towards Eiji's house.

After they left, the man who had sold the house glanced in their direction.

Pocketing his money, he quickly ran towards the center of the village, heading to the largest house.

"Are you sure about this?"

"Absolutely, Lord Koichi. Those two strangers are now at Eiji's place. I caught a glimpse, and that kid carries a lot of money!"
