Chapter 7 - Chapter 5: The Trap Within You

A loud slash—blood gushed from Player 223's neck.

It turned out Yun-ho had been secretly watching 223's movements. Seeing Jeong-hyuk in danger, he didn't hesitate and stabbed 223 with a fork.

The floor was soaked in 223's blood.

While everyone was still sleeping, the main door and lights came on.

The broadcast said: "Player 223 eliminated."

A masked man came in holding a coffin-shaped box.

Everyone looked toward Jeong-hyuk. His face was covered in blood.

Yun-ho sat on the ground, trembling with fear.

Ki-hyun smiled from afar.

Soon, the lights came on fully.

The broadcast said: "The fourth game will begin shortly. All players, please follow the instructions of the staff. Repeating: The fourth game will begin shortly. All players, please follow the instructions of the staff."

On the way, Il-hoon said to Jeong-hyuk, "Wipe your face."

Jeong-hyuk wiped it with his shirt.

Soon, they arrived at a location.

The broadcast said: "Welcome to the fourth game. This game will be played in teams of two. Please find someone to pair up with. Once both agree, shake hands to form a team. Repeating: This game will be played in teams of two. Please find someone to pair up with. Once both agree, shake hands to form a team. You have 10 minutes to find a partner."

Jeong-hyuk looked at Yun-ho, then at Il-hoon, unsure who to choose.

At that moment, Player 13 approached So-yeon. "Can I team up with you? I mean, we're both girls."

So-yeon looked toward Jeong-hyuk.

Jeong-hyuk said, "Don't look at me. It's your choice."

Player 13 held out her hand. So-yeon shook it.

Yun-ho walked up to Jeong-hyuk and held out his hand. "Let's team up."

Jeong-hyuk looked over at Il-hoon. Il-hoon glanced at him, then shook hands with Player 40.

Jeong-hyuk took Yun-ho's hand.

Meanwhile, Ki-hyun shook hands with Player 94.

The broadcast said: "Time for team selection is over. All players, please move to the game area with your partners."

Inside, there were many small rooms.

Il-hoon said, "Don't tell me we're playing in bathrooms."

Player 40 replied, "You're so funny."

"All participants, please follow the staff to your designated rooms."

Yun-ho asked, confused, "Why do we need to go into rooms?"

Jeong-hyuk said, "No idea."

Then, each pair entered an all-white room.

Inside, they found two chairs, a table, and a neatly stacked pile of Jenga blocks.

Once everyone was inside, the broadcast said: "This game is Jenga Duel. You must compete with your partner. The first to knock over the blocks will be eliminated. Repeating: This game is Jenga Duel. You must compete with your partner. The first to knock over the blocks will be eliminated. If no winner is determined, both will be eliminated."

They all looked at their partners.

At that moment, Ki-hyun muttered, "F***."

"Game time is 20 minutes. Begin."

As the announcement ended, Il-hoon calmly sat down and said, "Let's be clear—don't go easy on me."

Player 40 silently nodded.

Yun-ho looked at Jeong-hyuk. "Jeong-hyuk, I…"

Jeong-hyuk hugged him.

Ki-hyun said to Player 94, "Let's do this."

Player 94's hand trembled as he pulled the first block.

Then it was Ki-hyun's turn. He smoothly pulled out a block.

Elsewhere, So-yeon and Player 13 were already halfway through.

Player 13 glared fiercely at So-yeon. "Do you know what Player 300 told me? She said God protects me. That I won't die."

So-yeon replied, "You b*tch."

Il-hoon and Player 40 started playing—Il-hoon pulled one block, then Player 40 pulled one—going back and forth.

Jeong-hyuk said to Yun-ho, "I don't want to see either of us die so soon."

Yun-ho said, "We've got time. Let's wait till the end."

Jeong-hyuk nodded. "Okay."

Ki-hyun said, "Your turn."

Player 94 pulled one from the bottom left.

After pulling it out, he laughed, "Hahaha! Let's see you try now. There's only one left at the bottom."

So-yeon pulled out another block. "Your turn."

Player 13 began pulling—but halfway through, the tower collapsed. She stared in horror at the mess in front of her.

A masked man pointed a gun at her.

Player 13 cried, "No, no, no, please don't!"

Bang. Player 13 was dead.

Then came the broadcast: "Player 13 eliminated."

Il-hoon pulled out a block and said, "Your turn."

Player 40 said, "Player 201, you're still young. I don't want to see your life end here. I'm sorry."

As he spoke, his hand trembled while pulling the block—the tower fell.

Il-hoon angrily grabbed his collar. "Why?! We agreed—no letting me win!"

Player 40 replied, "I didn't let you win. My hand just slipped." A tear fell from his eye. "Make it out alive."

Then a masked man walked over.

Bang.

"Player 40 eliminated."

Yun-ho asked Jeong-hyuk, "You still haven't told me why you came here."

Jeong-hyuk said, "I'm a failed writer. I thought making money would be easy. Turns out, it's harder than climbing to heaven."

Ki-hyun slowly pulled out another block, shouting excitedly, "Your turn!"

Player 94 started pulling. Ki-hyun thought to himself, If this keeps going, I'll die.

Suddenly, an idea struck him—he kicked the table while 94 was pulling.

The tower collapsed. Player 94 stared at Ki-hyun. A masked man approached.

Player 94 said, "That doesn't count! He kicked it! It wasn't me!"

"Player 94 eliminated."

Jeong-hyuk said, "Thanks for saving me last night."

Yun-ho said, "Honestly, I was scared too. But for you, I'd do anything."

Jeong-hyuk looked at the timer. "Five minutes left… let's start."

Yun-ho said, "You go first."

Jeong-hyuk pulled out a block. "Your turn."

Yun-ho said, "I love you, Jeong-hyuk."

Then he knocked over the tower.

Jeong-hyuk was shocked. "What are you doing?!"

Yun-ho smiled. "When you get out… don't forget—your first time was with me."

A single tear rolled down his cheek.

The masked man walked up to Yun-ho. Jeong-hyuk tried to rush over but was held back by another masked man.

He could only cry helplessly. "Yun-ho, don't… Yun-ho!"

Bang.

"Player 409 eliminated."
