As we were flying, we realized we had a tail when a ball of fire flew past us. Those retainers must have sent a griffin rider with a magic user to pursue us. Dysis turns around and effortlessly shoots a bolt of lightning at the other griffin. Greatly wounded, the griffin starts falling. It seems the griffin was able to do a few flaps of its wings to help cushion the fall, but it seems out of commission for now.
It takes us a few days of flying to get to Leo, Kenji, and CoCo. We get to the inn where Leo was hiding out, and he is lying on the bed where Kenji is cuddling with the leopard stuffed animal. He is in his wolf form, cuddling with them, but perks up when he sees us and goes up to Lysara for a hug, still as a wolf, and says, "I am so glad you are safe." He starts crying, "I am so useless. I am so sorry." I immediately snapped back, "You did absolutely nothing wrong, and there was nothing you could have done in that situation. Do not put yourself down for a reason you have no control over." Lysara looks at me, realizing what he said, and looks back to Leo and says, "Yeah, Leo, what she said. What happened to me was not your fault in the slightest. You did everything right by staying safe until we could come back to you." She says as she leans down to pet his fur.
Leo sniffles, "Ok." I tell Leo, wearing a worried face, "Things happened at the capital, and it is even more dangerous now. I am afraid we are going to have to return you to your mother for now." Leo is crying more now, "Why, Miss Ari? Please take me with you!" I deeply sigh and tell him why it is so dangerous, "Somebody poisoned the king and queen, and somehow they are convinced it was Lysara and I who poisoned them. We are very wanted criminals right now, which is an even worse situation than when we started our journey. I need to keep my promise to your mother. Now, if something happens and they come to find you and you are in danger at your mother's, I want you to come to me on CoCo. I will be leaving her in your care, so please take good care of her while we are away. She loves to be brushed, and she likes it when you play with her mane. I then say, "Let us get out of your hair to get you some privacy. Once you get changed and packed, come down for food." He nods, and we leave and head downstairs. I then say as I sit down while still holding Thultu, "While we wait for your father, do you want to hear stories of our adventures?" Thultu beams, "Yes, please, Miss Ari!"
I giggle, and then we tell him the filtered, more child-friendly version of events while I show him scars as they come up in the story. He was locked in during the whole story and was very entertained by our adventures. Since the story was pretty long, by the time we were almost done telling the story, Rhixl was walking through the door, returning from work. We tried to tell them we had no motive in the crime, but they didn't seem to want to listen to us. We called Dysis, and she carried us to safety." Rhixl asks curiously, "Who is Dysis?" Thultu, who was paying attention, replies, "She is a griffin who can use lightning magic!" he says with enthusiasm, and then he does his imitation of a lightning strike boom with his mouth in a very cute way. Rhixl then says, smiling at his son's adorable explanation, "Wow, you guys have been busy." I replied, "Yeah, we are in the process of getting this one here back to his mother before we try to clear our names, gesturing to Leo.
I continue getting Rhixl up to speed, "It is going to get even more dangerous for a while, so we need to be careful until we can prove our innocence. We will definitely come back to visit you, and I want to pick Leo up again for our adventures later too. He has something very important he wants to do, and I want to help him, but we have to be safe right now." Leo is still a bit droopy because he hates it when we bring up being separated. He replies, "I know you will, Miss Ari. I just want to selfishly stay by your side, but I understand. I will go back home for a while to my mother and sister for now." I have already told Leo that I would continue searching for his remaining family and helping anyone else who might be in slavery, too, while we are separated. To ease his worries.
Rhixl then says, "Your family must miss you, too. Enjoy them while you can. You never know when they might be taken from you." Leo's ears droop again, and he says in a dejected tone, "I know that too well." His ears have been going up and down throughout the conversation like his emotions are all over the place. Rhixl then also droops a bit in his tail, "I am so sorry to hear that, kid. Then all the more reason to spend time with them while you can." Leo nods, and he goes off to the corner to be by himself a bit to brood.

I stand up and take my now empty tea cup and place it in their sink (still holding Thultu with one arm) while saying, "Thank you so much for the tea and letting us visit, you two. I enjoy your company." I look down and smile at Thultu, who is beaming and tail wagging fast, "We really enjoy you, too!" Lysara pouts a bit, "Can I get a hug, Thultu? I feel so neglected over here." I giggle at her jealousy and walk over to her and hand her Thultu while I take her teacup and Rhixl's to the sink as well. Rhixl says, "Oh, you didn't have to do that." I replied, "You invited us into your house when it puts you at risk. It is the least I can do." I then wash the tea cups, and Rhixl then stands and says, "I can't have our nation's princess-to-be doing dishes in my house." I replied while waving a hand in dismissal, "It is no big deal. Plus, as of right now, I am no princess, but a wanted criminal." I say with a wink and a soft yet worried smile and continue, "I just want to help you while we are here. I hate how we have to leave so soon."
Rhixl sits back down in defeat, "Fine, have it your way, Miss Ari. Thank you." It doesn't take me long to wash the teacups. I then ask while holding the now clean teacups, "Where would you like me to put these for now?" Rhixl replies while pointing beside the sink to the counterspace, "Place them upside down on the counter a while so they can air dry for me, please." I do just that, and then I say, "All done. We probably should be going now since it is getting late." Thultu protests, "Nooo! Not yet!" Lysara pats his head, "We will be back, Thultu. We promise. We have gotten way too attached to you, so you will be our first stop when everything is safe. I was thinking of stopping here right after our wedding as the first stop of our honeymoon. We get back to the inn for dinner, then retire to our rooms. Leo goes to his with Kenji in tow, and we go to ours. We are leaving Kenji with Leo for now, just in case. Not only that, Kenji likes Leo. We still have plenty of days left, so we top off on supplies and Sky, Lysara, and I head out of town a safe distance, then we summon Dysis.
