Kang Seungho lay unconscious in the remnant of the rain that swept away his blood with it. The forest behind the ports of Busan had no birds chirping and no droplets of rain, but the moon was high, mighty in the sky shining on Seungho's back.
Seungho blinks and opens his eyes completely, lifting his head to look but Alex Lim was nowhere to be seen and Seungho thought he really let me go. He couldn't have been any farther from the truth, Seungho struggling to stand and navigating through this forest limping on his left leg, clutching his right arm. He was sure that his ribs were cracked and his right hand was no different.
Seungho walks out to the main road following the forest trail, no car honking or headlights blaring tonight, but an orange hue to the sky, the fumes of burning wood entering his nostril as the fire is lit in the distance. In the direction of Seungho's house, who had lived in an old house with his only family, his father and he couldn't stop thinking that it was his bad luck catching up to him finally.
Meanwhile at Seungho's house, Taesik, Minho and Dohyun convene from their separate ways in front of the burning house. A crowd of his neighbors started to form around the burning building, some were calling the fire department while the other looked on.
"Hey, what the hell is going on?" Minho asks for answers among them.
"We just got here too." a member of the crowd answers.
"Where is Seungho at? This has to be that Alex bastard, " Minho paced left to right, rubbing his forehead thinking what to do in this situation, "We should go kill that bastard right now!"
"Hey, where is Officer Kang right now?" Dohyun asks with flames in his eyes.
"What" Minho turns to look at him.
"He should be at work right now" Taesik says unsure, "Unless—"
Dohyun runs into the flames, waving in the air against the erupting flames before disappearing into the smoke.
Taesik steps in and reaches out his hand trying to catch him but Dohyun was too quick.
"Do you have a death wish or what?" Minho yells out, now using both hands to scratch at his head, pulling out his own hair.
Even with this broken bones, Seungho mustered the courage to start jogging, fuck fuck fuck, bounced around in his head, He didn't want to believe Alex Lim was capable to this; He wanted to believe that Alex still had some humanity left in him.
The smoke from the burning house drew nearer and Seungho stood on the same block looking on to the entrance of his house. A horror scene appears before him, Dohyun and Officer Kang lay on the road, their bodies covered in burn marks. a distant whirring of the fire truck sirens can be heard, Taesik talks on his phone presumably to the police but Minho is nowhere to be seen now. Seungho stumbles as he starts running, and falls on his knee before them.
"ALEX, YOU DON'T TOUCH MY FAMILY AND LIVE TO SEE ANOTHER DAY" Seungho howls into the night, "I'LL DRAG YOU DOWN TO HELL IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO"
Seungho collapses amidst the crowd and Taesik runs over in time to catch him, stopping his face from hitting the concrete.
The sirens inch closer and Seungho hears, "Hey! Hey! Get a stretcher here too!" before losing consciousness.
A few days later…
Seungho recovered from his fight with Alex Lim, though the bruises were still visible all over his body, they put him in a cast for the time being.
However, Dohyun had to get skin grafts on the left side of his head, thankfully his eyes were not damaged in the fire.
"Officer Kang is still yet to wake up but his vitals are steady so it should be anytime" The nurse tells the boys, standing in a circle outside of the operating room.
Sigh… Taesik exhales with his hands over his head, looking lifeless.
"We have to do something about Alex Lim…" Dohyun says, sitting down in the waiting room, still recovering from his operation.
"I will go kill him right now, just give me the word," Minho exclaimed, looking up from chewing his nails nervously.
The hospital hall was empty, a rural hospital like this didn't get many people coming through and the sharp tang of disinfectants remained in the air. Minho stood leaning on the white wall, still wearing his school uniform, same with Taesik; They came to the hospital straight from their classes. Seungho stood on one leg, the other one in a cast, standing holding his crutches.
"Alex Lim already left Busan…" Seungho said, "Some of my classmates came by yesterday, they saw him by a bus stand in the morning before classes."
"FUCK! Now what are we gonna do? Seungho," Minho erupted, he almost punched a hole through the wall.
"What can we do here? I'll help with my father's construction and—" Seungho spoke softly, "You guys go on with your lives—"
"Hey, stop with this sorry ass talk, Seungho," Taesik interrupts, slashing the air with his hand. "Are you really okay with leaving Alex Lim be?"
"My blood boils just thinking about it," Seungho reaffirms.
"So, let's do something about this" Taesik spoke after clapping his hands, "Alex Lim's goal was not Busan especially not if he left so quickly, he is probably going to somewhere else to do exactly what he did here"
"Do you all forget why we started this crew?" Taesik looked around for a answer "We can't let him wreck hell on this world"
"Hey, so what exactly are you suggesting?" Dohyun broke his silence.
"I am saying we go after him, if we all jump him he won't have a chance" Taesik answered, "We can find what bus he took if we ask around"
"So what? Do you not see what happened to Seungho? " Dohyun asked,"Don't say dumb shit if you don't have the power to back it up"
Power…Seungho thought to himself, if it's just power we need.
"You guys can keep sucking on your thumbs, I will make Alex Lim pay for what he did" Dohyun explains rudely before walking away, "Wait–" Seungho voice rings in the hall and stops them in their place.
"We can bring Alex Lim down…" Seungho claimed
"How?"
"Stop joking"
"What?"
"What we need is—" Seungho said "6 years—"
"6 years?" Minho sideyes Seungho.
They stood in a circle, while Seungho gestured and spoke in detail about what '6 years' meant.
The first step of this plan was to allow Kang Seungho to stay by his father's side while he also trained his power to ultimately fight head on with Alex Lim. Alex Lim was too wary of Seungho, so everyone else was to split up in the country and silently increase their "power" in the world; if it's power they were lacking, then they were gonna have the greatest power in the world. In the end, Alex Lim would never see his four worst nightmares coming for his head.
Lee Tae-sik, who was the studious of the bunch went on to study at Kyungpook National University School of Business, studying business and managed to garner a large support in the country through his philanthropy and volunteer work; even worked as a college professor in Daegu, gaining a large favor with students across the country.
Jang Min-ho, who was the grittiest fighter among them, never threw in the towel, always fighting until his last breath. He went on to become a prosecutor in Gwangju after studying from Chonnam National University, now known as the "Prosecutor from Hell" among the law firms all over the country. One of the few rising stars in terms of the law in the country, representing the vulnerable against the rotten of this world.
Last but not least, Park Do-Hyun, known for his sense of justice among the bunch, he really looked up to Seongho's Father and when the fire engulfed his house, Dohyun ran through flames to save his father which resulted in a scar on the left side of his face; a testament to his determination to uphold justice now worked as an Inspector in Seoul. Dohyun is known for his 100% percentage in clearing cases, leaving no cases unsolved, even to the extent of solving notorious cold cases of the decade.
